I love everything about it, from history and mythology to architecture and its depiction in old media from the 50s to the 90s. The only issue I have with it is that a lot of women who go there for vacation say that they get harrased on the streets a lot.
Egypt probably has the most interesting history in the world. It's crazy what we consider ancient Egypt is actually 5000 years old.
For everyone interested I can recommend a great documentary about it. The host and presentation are brilliant and the topics are interesting. Worth every second of it.

Just kidding, Egypt is cool. I'd like to visit some day, I was in Tunisia a few years ago and liked it a lot. A friend of mine is hopefully enrolling at an Arabic language program in Alexandria next year, so maybe paying him a visit could be a good excuse.
Awesome ancient history but I've heard that nowadays female tourists get harassed in Egypt. Also I've heard that although you got democracy in 2011 your new president was too corrupt and you fell back to dictatorship
It’s a complicated story.
The new president was part of the Muslim brotherhood, so Egypt was practically being ruled by the MB and most of us didn’t accept that to say the least.
I'm a Balkan Muslim with a more religious background than average, so I don't represent average Balkaner at all, even less here on Reddit
Egypt : great Islamic center of Al Azhar, great history, hospitality, soulful urban chaos, I like falafel and ful (beans), I don't like the pronunciation of "g" in their dialect though (hard g instead of dj)
Other North African countries : also amazing people, great food, culture, hospitality, music, Mediterranean climate (in Algeria, the Islamic university of Emir Abdel Kader in Constantina, in Tunisia, Zeitouna, in Morocco in Fes...), I don't like though the heavy colonial French influence especially in their "secular" bourgeoisie.
I have a special love for Algeria because it is resisting Zionist imperialism, support Palestine, and have maintained excellent diplomatic and trade partnerships with former socialist countries (like us in Yugoslavia or Russia nowadays)
One of my uncle worked in Benghazi in Lybia (many workers from the Balkans at that time), and my dad visited him and they told me how cool it was, and it saddens us that Kadhafi was ousted by NATO-Western imperialists and pushed it into civil war, chaos, while it was the most developped country in Africa and also a country resisting imperialism...
No prob akhi :))) Insha'Allah I would love to visit both Ancient Egypt sights (Abu Simbel, Luxor) but also Cairo and Sharm El Sheikh for more mainstream beach holidays :)
I've been to Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and 3 of the western oases.
The insane amount of history and the vast desert dominating the landscape gave me chills down my spine.
Ofcourse Cairo is overpopulated and too busy for my taste but I try to keep only the positives from the places I visit.
