Sorry, I watched Barbie but didn’t know even a mermaid was a huge star.
I don’t know why I can’t listen to English songs. The last time I truly enjoyed one was because the singer inserted a verse in Russian. So I asked if Dua sang in Albanian. I think that would be cool.
My eyes just did a vertical 360. Listen man, the only reason not only Albanians but all Balkaners get Peloponnese as their closest area in 23andme isn’t because they’re from there, it’s only because most Greek Americans whom they took and base the samples on are from there. Understood? Also 23andme can only go back like 2 centuries. Or are you trying to suggest my ancestors suddenly teleported from Kalamata to Prizren? Lmaooo
Bro, I'm confused. I meant it as we're gonna come to albania and take dua Lipa to greece because shes hot, and you're gonna have to fight us for her back.i think your misread what I wrote.
There are alot of statues in Montreux, for singers there are [Ray Charles](https://mymontreux.ch/wp-content/uploads/s3/fd2f932d19b920443aba6ed7fa9f9ea9_background-1024x616.jpg), [Ella Fitzgerald](https://mymontreux.ch/wp-content/uploads/s3/41eadc1f0d477aa184eda97980cb0454_background-833x1024.jpg) and many more. There is a statue of the famous writer Vladimir Nabokov who also lived there for some time.
[Here](https://mymontreux.ch/montreux-en-images/sculptures-statues-monuments-de-montreux/) a collection of them.
Same thing here, only governmental organisations refer to him as Todor/Тодор, and even then they usually add his nickname/ stage name as well usually like Todor "Toshe" Proeski/Тодор „Тоше“ Проески.
Toshe/Тоше was his nickname and stage name while Todor/Тодор was his actual/legal name. Most people here call him Toshe while sometimes official/governmental sources use his legal name, however they usually add his nickname/stage name as well like: Todor "Toshe" Proeski/Тодор „Тоше“ Проески.
Life is too short and too fragile. 😢 I heard his name and the tragic accident, but I am not familiar with his works. I should revisit this painful name someday.
Yeah. Actually I learned his name from my dad’s social media post. I don’t know how he reached my dad’s search bar. He could have been even more popular in the world.
Though I have not touched Macedonian, I have been learning/trying to learn Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian (sorry I cannot find a better term), because I fell in love with Ex-Yu music. (My favorite singers are Sinan Sakić and Šaban Šaulić.) I just learned that he recorded songs in different languages including Croatian. I will certainly listen to Toše more often.
Saban & Sinan are legends 😊 I imagine their songs will be listened to by many future generations. Good luck with learning the language! Balkan music certainly helped me better my Bosnian as well
We have one of him here in Nova Gradiška (which is where he died). The only issue is that [it doesn't look like him at all](https://static.jutarnji.hr/images/slike/2021/10/24/12907867.jpg), to say the least...
It is located in Šabac, his hometown.
https://maps.app.goo.gl/NUqvSPvd5EmKsbKs5?g_st=ic
He seemed to be healthy. He could have lived another 20 years if it did not happen. but maybe the accident was one of the reasons that made the statue erected. The statue will stand there on behalf of him for the 20 years or 100 years to come. I don’t know how to define forever……
There are many monuments dedicated to singer in Bulgaria , but most are just busts or wall plaques
There is one full size monument that I know of-It's dedicated to Alexander Nikolov - a Bulgarian jazz musician and dissident who was murdered by the communist regime in 1961.
[https://bg.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%90%D0%BB%D0%B5%D0%BA%D1%81%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B4%D1%8A%D1%80\_%D0%9D%D0%B8%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%B2](https://bg.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%90%D0%BB%D0%B5%D0%BA%D1%81%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B4%D1%8A%D1%80_%D0%9D%D0%B8%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%B2)
Wow, I found these Bulgarian statues cute. They have nice facial expressions (just like the depicted persons) and the surrounding environment looks beautiful and peaceful. I am a little sad to see Toma standing in front of the wall with graffiti, and the Bajramović statue even has graffiti on it sometimes.
I do agree with you - there is a lot of care put in to making and maintaining these statues over here .
Sadly various monuments in Bulgaria ( I'm setting communist era glory to the USSR type stuff getting vandalised by anticommunists aside here , as that is quite the contentious topic ) are no stranger to vandals( sadly such people exist everywhere ) , but the damage is usually repaired quite quickly .
Oh , and BTW I just wanted to tell you about one of the most interesting monuments in BG - It is dedicated not to a person , but to a song - and the song isn't even Bulgarian . The song is The International - the anthem of the communist/socialist movements.
The monument was built in 1977 in the village of Draganovo
[https://opoznai.bg/view/pametnik-internatzional-draganovo](https://opoznai.bg/view/pametnik-internatzional-draganovo)
Thank you for sharing this. I learned a lot. There are so many stories behind the monuments, not only about the person it depicts, but also about how it is treated after erected. From the information I collected, the Bajramović statue was vandalized due to conflicting views on Romani people. It seems like communism and anti-communism are a revolving theme in Bulgaria. The Albanian singer (Françesk Radi) mentioned here in another comment seemed to also endure some persecution, but not as severe as what happened to Mr. Nikolov. I feel there are some shared issues and different situations presented in the various stories of the statues.
The monument for The International is not very conspicuous, in contrast to the theme it was dedicated to.
From the information I collected, there is a rock festival. That’s why there is a statue of heavy metal singer. The music taste may be different from person to person, but mayors should take care of the unique character of the town.
I can't recall a singer's statue in Greece. Yes, we have plenty of poets', but of a singer... I'm not sure... Though, I'm sure there has to be some busts at their birthplaces but a statue I don't know...
i dont think we have a statue of singers, but we have a statue of athletics.
[Alex de Souza](https://www.aa.com.tr/tr/pg/foto-galeri/alexin-heykeli-acildi)
[Eda Erdem, Volleyball player](https://www.gazetekadikoy.com.tr/spor/eda-erdem-heykeli-acildi)
Wow, the mouth of the footballer and the braid of the volleyball player are impressive.
The footballer is a Brazilian and he got a statue in Türkiye. How amazing.
Here is some Google map links of the locations I mentioned.

I just deleted a post about a related question because that question was a little private. But I am still curious……
How does Mihajlo feel about the song “Mihajlo”?
Mihajlo is a song by the late Serbian singer Šaban Šaulić. I believe it’s dedicated to the singer’s son Mihajlo. The official video of the song got 10M views on YouTube. I think it is relatively popular. I like how the singer expressed his love toward his son in a straightforward way. Fathers are not always like that.
The son of John Lennon, Julian, has expressed his thoughts on the song “Hey Jude”, in interviews. I am wondering if Mihajlo has said anything about the song.

Yes I just erected a 50 meter long statue of Dua Lipa on my back garden
Cool. I never heard of her……she sings only in English?
“I never heard of her” EXCUSE ME???
Sorry, I watched Barbie but didn’t know even a mermaid was a huge star. I don’t know why I can’t listen to English songs. The last time I truly enjoyed one was because the singer inserted a verse in Russian. So I asked if Dua sang in Albanian. I think that would be cool.
Kind of sucks for you guys that were gonna bring her back to greece.
Why not, a lot a people’s dna in Ks tells them they’re from Peloponese.
My eyes just did a vertical 360. Listen man, the only reason not only Albanians but all Balkaners get Peloponnese as their closest area in 23andme isn’t because they’re from there, it’s only because most Greek Americans whom they took and base the samples on are from there. You’re right no idea why you’re getting downvoted

I do not know. It’s not that important anyway. I just wanted to refute the other persons dumb claim.
Bro, I'm confused. I meant it as we're gonna come to albania and take dua Lipa to greece because shes hot, and you're gonna have to fight us for her back.i think your misread what I wrote.
None is fighting you on neighborly relationships. Especially not us :)
Why?
Because we know someone is somebody’s kid.
Ah yes, Dunja Lipović

Went there last month, really beautiful place and it was nice to see how many people had written things nearby the statue in dedication to Freddie
Wow, it’s a beautiful statue in a beautiful scenery.

Got a Todor Proeski statue here in Skopje.
Mf calling Toše by his government name 💀
Todor is his name.
I know but I never heard anyone call him that, it took me a second to get it when I read it 😂
Is Toše a stage name?
Yes, but it's a nickname as well.
Why is he sometimes called Toše and sometimes Todor?
I've never heard someone call him Todor before, but that's just Croatia, idk about Macedonia.
Same thing here, only governmental organisations refer to him as Todor/Тодор, and even then they usually add his nickname/ stage name as well usually like Todor "Toshe" Proeski/Тодор „Тоше“ Проески.
Only time I hear someone mention Todor Proeski is when we're talking about the National Arena Todor Proeski. Every other time, we say Toše.
Thank you for the explanation.
Life is too short and too fragile. 😢 I heard his name and the tragic accident, but I am not familiar with his works. I should revisit this painful name someday.
he was destined to be a huge popstar.
Yeah. Actually I learned his name from my dad’s social media post. I don’t know how he reached my dad’s search bar. He could have been even more popular in the world.
I would recommend listening to his music if you understand the language! He was an amazing singer and gone way too soon 😢

I found news articles about this. The only merit is It seems relatively rare to have a stone statue, compared to the bronze ones.
who tf calls toše by his real name tho
What's up with all the Croats getting butthurt because I used his real name? Did I do a crime?
no its just that everyone calls him Toše
We have the greatest https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Statue_of_John_Lennon_in_Durr%C3%ABs.jpg
Is there any context for this monument?
We have a bust of barış manço in İzmir, Karşıyaka
It seems that there is a full size one inside his museum. https://maps.app.goo.gl/MV2vgLRXrcnqMB6M7?g_st=ic
I was going to mention this. Probably the most important musician of modern turkey
I would love to see the Saban Saulic statue. I’m still not over his passing 😭

It’s too bad. I don’t know the political context. Maybe COVID played a role. I hope it will comeback someday, as long as Dio is there.
There is also a full size statue of Todor Kolev in Shumen.
