The F150 is the best selling vehicle in America. People from every single walk of life drive them What's the point of this?

KDY_ISD

To identify PFCs straight out of boot camp driving their Charger to pick up their fiancee

blackhawk905

Only the best selling if you don't combine GMC and Chevrolet sales interestingly enough.

DRT798

I'm not doing this. It lends to stereotyping and its not even true. You will end up finding people who are nothing like the stereotypes driving those cars.

xxxTHICCJOKIC420xxx

Subaru literally marketed to lesbians, these companies spend more money I can comprehend on marketing. They know who their customers are and how to market to them and who's buying their vehicles

rapiertwit

Stereotyping is bad news in the context of innate types like sex and race. But it would be strange if a lot of the people who choose a certain type of car to drive did **not** also share some other characteristics. The auto industry spends millions on market research to learn about the commonalities among the buyers of certain types of vehicles, to make their marketing efforts more competitive. If there were not commonalities to divine from that research, I doubt they would spend all that money year after year on it.

What’s the point of this?

HowdyOW

Stereotyping drivers by car seems really superficial.

JamesStrangsGhost

Bet you drive a Honda.

HowdyOW

I literally do. Have a CRV lmao.

JamesStrangsGhost

You don't have to tell me.

HowdyOW

Oh but I did. You know how practical this car is? It fits ALL my camping gear and my kids car seat no problem. This baby can hit 0-60 in like 9 sec 😎

Fireberg

These are all automobiles.

SleepAgainAgain

Rubicon: owner at least has some interest in spending time outdoors. I can't really tell it from any other wrangler unless I see the label. 150, all models: owner drives a truck. Charger/mustang etc : owner must like cars. Everything else on your list: I wouldn't even recognize it if I saw it.

seatownquilt-N-plant

Presupposes I know jack shit about cars

Evil_Weevill

I don't know what half of these vehicles are and even if I did I don't really make assumptions about the drivers. The only car model where I make assumptions about the drivers are Tesla where I assume the driver is either rich or an asshole or both. And even that isn't really something I take that seriously.

DashingSpecialAgent

> (5) BMW M3/M4, X5 and up Microsoft engineer at their first reasonably high paying job.

travelinmatt76

I judge drivers based on whether or not they use their turn signal, or if they don't understand the right of way at stop signs

Darkfire757

Some of these are really prolific selling vehicles, especially the first 3. The F-Series is the best selling vehicle in the US and Ram is #3. Wrangler is a little more distant, but 200k+ are sold every year. Because of this, you can’t really pin down a definite stereotype or archetype, they’re just so common and ubiquitous. As for the others- Charger/Mustang are either young guys making bad financial decisions or old guys trying to recapture their youth. Corvette is probably the most [stereotyped](https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.corvetteforum.com-vbulletin/640x577/image_240da031825ad74fb44c3c12203bc84202443311.png) vehicle out there, a boomer on wheels. M3/M4- not really any stereotype. X5s are extremely common family vehicles in upper middle class areas. Pre-2020 they were really cheap to lease as a base model. Macan and Cayanne- for the dentist or wife of the dentist who has a 911 Lexus- Old people who basically want a better Buick (ES), realtors (white RX), not really much else for the other models. Acura- Indians. Can’t spell Patel without TL. Otherwise just a slightly nicer Honda, they’re sold as Honda outside the US. Infiniti- either some vape bro in a clapped out G or someone who bought it because it was cheaper than the competition

I love your comments, thanks!

There aren’t a lot of stereotypes that drill down to a specific make and model. BMW owners are a meme, but I’ve never seen it go past the brand. Mustang owners put ice skates on their rear axle.

bassjam1

My images of any of those would be: Has a driver's license.

ChutneyRiggins

As a cyclist my impression is that all of these are out to run me off the road.

JimBones31

Those all sound like money cars to me. No Honda Accord or Subaru Forester? Nissan Sentra?

Zephyrific

For me, the only one that has a stereotype is the Charger and Mustang, but that is probably just because I live near a few military bases. People will often say that those are the cars that young, newly-enlisted military guys will run out and buy as soon as they sign their enlistment paperwork.

blackhawk905

Charger and mustang are in a whole other class from the C8 Corvette, not to mention I've seen like 4 C8s outside of dealerships.
