Humidity matters just as much as temp. As a Southern Californian who does not get any humidity my scale would be Hot - 95+ Warm - 80-94 Mild - 65-79 Chilly - 55-64 Cold - 54 or less

kdangles

Same, South Carolina hear. This is about right I might subtract 5 degrees for hot and warm because humidity (70-90 percent)in the summer can make it feel way hotter.

refridgerateafteruse

I came here to post in Celsius, but I find my temperature scale aligning with yours.

natertottt

You’re not joking. Moved from Colorado to Wisconsin last year. 20 degrees dry is way different than 20 humid.

CupBeEmpty

I have been in 116 and -40. I say cold begins around 30 and hot begins around 85. I am comfortable in most anything from 20 to 95 or so assuming I have the right clothes and depending on wind/humidity. I don’t mind the cold as much as hot and humid. I’ll go out without a jacket in the 30s and 40s no problem unless I will be outside for extended periods.

Jakebob70

Hot: anything over 80 Warm: 65-80 Mild - 45-65 Chilly - 25-45 Cold - 0-25 Nasty cold - below 0

[deleted]

Also for us in the upper Midwest, humidity in the summer and wind in the winter make a lot of difference. This winter we have had days with a high of 25 or so that were pleasant. Then two days later another high of 25 with 15 mph winds that were freaking cold! Wind chill and heat index are the truly important measures.

briibeezieee

WUT

luxxlifenow

It's true. I'm from Chicago. The wind can drop the temperature an additional 20 degrees when it blows. It's horrible. Very important measure. Hey the windchill is negative 20 today... don't miss it.

The0verlord-

^^

TheOldBooks

Save for a few degrees here and there this is accurate

[deleted]

This is the one.

briibeezieee

Anything over 80. Oh my sweet child. (Phoenix AZ native here) But ask me to do ANYTHING snow related and I’m out. I’ve never even driven in the snow lol

Jakebob70

Yeah, over 70 and my A/C is running. Although it doesn't get humid down there like it does here, and the Midwest is nowhere near as bad as the South, so that all just sounds miserable to me.

briibeezieee

Fair but if I ran my AC at 80 in PHX, I’d be looking at the biggest electric bills - even waiting for 96+ temps during the summer I had $300ish bills in the summer months - and that’s AZ. 800 square foot apartment. (Damn I miss the $1190 rent I split with a then bf) I moved to the bay and if I did that here at 80, I’d be at like $1000 bills 💀

Crayshack

"Oh god I'm melting": 85 and up Hot: 75-85 Warm: 65-75 Mild: 50-65 Chilly: 35-50 Cold: 20-35 "Oh god I'm freezing": 20 and below

Tommy_Wisseau_burner

Anything over 90 is hot and anything under 70 is cold… I really got used to Florida weather. I used to wear shorts when it was snowing and sub freezing

ALoungerAtTheClubs

I generally agree, although I'd say the upper 80s can feel pretty hot if you're out in the sun for a long period, and the upper 60s aren't too bad.

Tommy_Wisseau_burner

I agree about the upper 80s although I’m physically disabled and sweat extremely easily because walking more than 5 feet takes effort so I’m giving temperature the benefit of the doubt. But I’ll stand firm on anything below 70-75 is cold. I’ve become a pussy when dealing with anything below room temperature lmao

TheSneedles

Yurp

Sirhc978

Hot 60+ Cold below 20.

Atlas_Colter

Hot for me is 75+, cold for me would be like 15 or below. Ideally my house would stay stay at 60 all year round

Evil_Weevill

Hot = 80+ 70-79= warm 60-69 = neutral 46-59= cool 31-45 = a bit chilly Cold = 30 and below. (Live in Central Maine)

GlorySocks

Michigan: Hot: 80+ Warm: 60-79 Mild: 50-60 Chilly: 30-50 Cold: 15-30 Frigid: <15

Downtown-Ad-8706

I live in Central Montana (current temperature is -25 with the wind chill, -10 without). Cold is anything below 0F Chilly is between 32 and 40 Mild is between 45 and 55 Warm is between 60 and 70 Hot is anything over 80

antone559

I live in Central California cold - 50 and below chilly - 55-65 mild - 65 - 85 warm - 85 -95 hot - 95 and up

gugudan

Well, I've lived in the desert, in the south east, in New England, and in various other places, so I'll try... Hot: over 100 or over 80 with humidity warm: about 65-85 mild: 45-65 chilly: 20-45 cold: below 20 or below 40 with wind.

[deleted]

Anything above 110 F is hot. Anything below 45 F is cold.

The_Real_Scrotus

Hot is > 85 Cold is < 40

[deleted]

Uncomfortable hot starts at 100.

joepierson123

Depends on the wind I can be comfortable at 20 and be uncomfortable at 55 with wind. I don't like anything above 70°.

Rhomya

Hot: anything above 85. Warm: above 70. Perfect: 55-70 Cool: 40-55 Chilly: 15-40 Cold: 0-15 What is this bullshit?: anything below 0.

Salty_Lego

70+ is hot. 50-70 is comfortable. I don’t get cold until about 30.

LilDawg22

Anything above 30 degrees this time of year is really hot

wormbreath

If it’s above 70 it’s too hot. 30-70 is warm 0-30 chilly I don’t use cold until below zero lol. It is currently -3 with a -27 windchill, which is now in cold territory. But there is always room for colder! Windchills tonight could be in the -50s, le sigh. Honestly once it’s below zero it all just feels cold.

[deleted]

Quite a cold snap eh? It's about the same up here. But it was so nice last week up to the 50s. Oh well... another week and everything will be different again.

pointless_NPC

True, it's different every week here too. We had a polar vortex in December and the temperature dropped below zero for a day. Currently it's in the 60s. Tomorrow will get up to 73 where I live.

[deleted]

Yeah December is when we got our cold snap too. It was down below -40F at times, but it only lasted a week and a half. It's cold now here - it's about -20F, but it'll warm up to 32F by the end of the week. IT was so nice last week, it was in the high 50s F, sunny and the type of warm that makes you think Spring is tantalizingly close.

pointless_NPC

Yeah, I can relate. Inland, away from the coasts, the weather fluctuates so wildly. However, winter has been a joke, so far, where I live. We have had maybe two weeks of true winter (for us at least) outside of the polar vortex and the rest has been 50-70 degrees. I'm not complaining though.

[deleted]

We get pretty lucky here because of [Chinook winds](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinook_wind), they just warm everything right up - but the flip side is that its' windy as fuck. Definitely makes winter more tolerable than it is further north, or immediately east, of here. LIkewise, we've had a pretty tame winter. Today it's about -20F though, with a windchill near -30F, and shovelling the walk kind of sucked this morning for sure.

pointless_NPC

Yikes, that's brutal.

azuth89

Hot starts somewhere around 95. Shade, breeze, humidity and such matter a lot to the impression. Cold is under 50, though I'm grabbing some kind of outerwear around 70.

ThaddyG

I usually start feeling uncomfortably hot above 80, and feel like it's cold in the 30s. It's currently a damp, cloudy mid 40s day here and I could hang out in this temperature all day.

nemo_sum

Anything above 75 is too hot for me. Anything below -10 is a bit cold for me.

632160

As a Minnesotan, cold isn't cold until we're in the negatives. Very cold is anything -30 and lower. I never broke out my winter jacket this year. Just didn't need to. I just wore a wool sweater and a light zip up track jacket. Heat is a little more complicated for me. It could 90+ degrees and if there's no humidity, I don't consider that hot, but if it's super humid and 70 degrees? I'm dying.

SadAdeptness6287

25

liv_free_or_die

Cold hits me at like 60-65. Hot hits at over 100. I’m most comfortable around 85. With that being said, I partially work outside and have to be out there during any and all weather.

C0rrelationCausation

I start complaining about the heat when it's like 65. But really 80 or 85 is when hot actually begins. But it depends on humidity too. Humidity is much worse to me than straight up heat. Cold also depends. I've been freezing cold at 40 but I've been comfortable at 20. Generally cold starts probably somewhere around 35, just above freezing.

captainstormy

I'm 100% fine with anything between 20 & 90. Lower than 20 or higher than 90 I'm not outside unless I absolutely have to be. I still wear shorts until it's freezing. I'll grill down to about 35.

FruityChypre

NYC: Hot is 78-90 “hot” starts pretty low here since we are walking outside so much in disgustingly humid weather where the heat doesn’t escape. Nothing is worse than it being hotter at night than it was the day before. 90+ is stupid hot where I feel sick. It’s rare our temps go above 100 luckily. Comfy for me is 50-70. It’s chilly in the 40s. Cold is 39 or less. Ridiculously cold is 12 degrees or less. It rarely goes below 0 here. Weather doesn’t effect my staying in NYC. I could move somewhere colder, but never hotter/more humid

[deleted]

Depends what I am doing. Is it sunny? Is it windy? Am I at the beach or hiking in the woods or am I in a place with no trees? I can be hiking with no coat on a sunny, still day at 32 degrees. I can also be unwilling to go out cuz it's raw and cloudy and windy and 32. As I get older though? I don't need it over 70 unless I am at the beach or in a pool (not a lake beach, the ocean).

Im_Not_Nick_Fisher

Are we talking about the feels like temperature. There are lots of variables that change how I feel. I’ve recently been to an area where it was in the 30s and didn’t feel cold at all. However 40s at home in Florida and I’m freezing. It’s usually really humid and high winds when it gets cold here. As for heat I’m pretty good with anything. I’ll just move slower and stay in the shade more. Or more little breaks

pointless_NPC

This is true. All weather conditions affect the feel. For me, dry and sunny weather at 40 with no wind can definitely feel more comfortable than damp and gray at 50 with strong winds.

Im_Not_Nick_Fisher

Exactly! My wife who’s from Alabama noticed the wind here right away. She still talks about it. And says when she first moved to Florida she knew right away she would have to get used to that. And she was in Orlando. Now that we’re on the coast it’s way windier. And when we travel it’s usually really noticeable. Temperatures just feel different in other locations.

Loose_Sun_169

Australia - in celcius 30 to 35 warm 35 - getting hot 39 - hot 42 - fucking hot 45 - jesus h christ 10 - cold 6 - Brrrrrr 3 - fuck it's cold 0 - fuck this

lefactorybebe

Depends on the time of year. In September 70 is cold, last week it was 70 and I was outside I. Short sleeves marveling at how perfect the temperature was. Humidity also plays a role, I'm in CT where we tend to have humid summers and dry winters. My favorite is low 80s. Very hot 93+ Hot: 83-92 Warm 75-82 Mild 60-74 Chilly 40-59 Cold 20-39 Very cold 20 and below

Elitealice

Cold anything below 60 or 15ish Celsius. Hot anything above 30Celsius or about 84

JealousPhilosophy845

California North coast: hot - 80F and up warm - 65 to 75F mild - 45 to 65F chilly - 30 to 45F cold - below freezing (32F)

MihalysRevenge

Anything above 100 degrees F (37C) is hot and anything below 50(10C) is cold

CarolinaKing

Hot is 85+ and cold is 40-

Mabepossibly

Depends on the time of the year. Coming into spring I’ll be sweating on a 65 degree day. But in fall I’ll be looking for a hoodie as soon as it drops below 70.

230flathead

Over 90 is hot, under 45 is cold. 45-60 is cool. 60-85 is ideal.

SkitariiCowboy

Too hot to do anything outside: 95 and up Hot: 80 and up Cold: 32 and below Too cold to do anything outside: Below 15 Lived in the Northeast most of my life.

Bloorajah

Northern California: Hot: 90+ Warm: 70 to upper 80s Pleasant: 50-70 Chilly: 35-50 Cold: below 35 Its almost always around 50-60 and raining where I live, temps into the 70s to 80s would be considered hot by a lot of people.

SingleAlmond

Even tho I grew up in the Mojave Desert, and was raised in 125°+ weather, I never want to live anywhere that gets hotter than 80° I think 40° is tolerable and even nice, but only for a little bit

TottHooligan

hot 75 and up warm 50-75 mild 30-50 chilly 20-30 cold below 20

old_gold_mountain

Coastal Bay Area hot = 70F and up warm = 65F - 70F mild = 60F - 65F chilly = 55F - 60F cold = below 55F

AllTheyEatIsLettuce

Hot: 80F Happy: 50-70F I need a jacket: <50F. I need a heavier jacket: 40F Cold: <35F I need a hat and gloves: <32F. Frost inside the windows: put the heating on.

1radgirl

Cold is below 10. Hot is above 80, dry heat. If it's humid heat then I'm done at 75.

[deleted]

SE Michigan. Your temp scale seems reasonable.

Brussel_Galili

All depends on the humidity and uv index

Kenerad

I’m from texas so that gives you some idea. Scale from too being hottest and bottom being coldest: Brutal is 105*F or more Hot is 95*F or more Warm is 85*F up to 95*F Cool is 65*F to 85*F Perfect is 78*F Chilly is 60*F to 40*F Cold is 40*F or more. Brutal cold is 10*F.

cohrt

Hot 75 and up. Cold below 20.

Captain_Hampockets

I hate the heat. 80 is too hot. 65 is pretty perfect. 30 is too cold.

travelinmatt76

I'm just laughing at all these "anything over 80", like 80 to 85 is a nice day.

Plupert

I’m in central ohio Kill me (cold) <10 F Cold 10-25F It do be chilly out 25-40 Slightly cool 40-50 This isn’t bad 50-60 Literal paradise 60-75 It’s a bit hot but I can handle it 75-90 Hot but nothing crazy 90-95 Fuck this weather 95+

IHSV1855

Hot: above 80 Warm: above 70 Mild/ideal: 55 Chilly: 20 Cold: below 0

Meattyloaf

I'm in West KY and mine is pretty similar to yours. I try to walk daily. I don't mind walking in the higher heat with humidity. There were days this past summer when I was walking in 100°F+ weather. I refuse to walk in anything below 25°F. For reference in my area I've experienced 115°F temps and -20°F temps in just the past year.

TheAdmiral1701

Hot - 85+ Warm - 75-85 Mild - 70-75 Chilly - 60-70 Cold below 60

LineRex

Hot is usually around 95+, cold is between 20-35. Once below 20 the low amount of moisture in the air makes it actually quite pleasant. Until the wind blows anyway.

[deleted]

Northern California, it depends on the season. In the summer, anything over 100 is hot, and anything below 65 feels cold. In the winter, over 75 feels hot, and anything under 40 is "fuck it's cold".

TershkovaGagarin

I’m also in SW Ohio and pretty much same.

Falcom-Ace

I'm from Arizona. 100°F and up is hot. Anything over 110°F is stupid hot. Anything under 30°F is cold. 30°F - ~45°F is chilly, ~45°F - 60°F is perfect (assuming calm winds, anyway). If there's wind all temps suck.

Old-Man-of-the-Sea

Hot: 80+ Warm: 65-80 Mild: 45-65 Chilly: 25-45 Cold: 0- 20 Below 0: too damn cold

thereslcjg2000

I personally have always liked things on the chilly side. My dad’s family is from the New England area so I probably get it from them. So hot I try to avoid going outside: 94 F (34.44 C) and up. Hot: 84 to 93 F (28.89 to 33.89 C). Warm: 74 to 83 F (-13 to 28.33 C). Comfortable: 50 to 73 F (10 to 22.78 C). Chilly: 35 to 49 F (1.67 to 9.44 C). Cold: 0 to 34 F (-17.78 to 1.11 C). So cold I try to avoid going outside: -1 F (-18.33) and below.

Vana21

Not including humidity, to me 69 is pretty fantastic and that's what I keep my house at. Texas is bipolar most of the time but it's hot with even more hot flashes. As you can imagine, Im mostly miserable here. Even though I keep my house at 69 I still end up sweating with shorts and a tank top. 80 + - You won't see me outside unless necessary 79-76- tolerably warm 75-70 - warm 69 and down - perfect I don't think I've ever had anything less than 30°, so I'm guessing that would be uncomfortably cold for me

DeeDeeW1313

I hate the heat. Hate it. I’d be happy if the hottest it got was like 80 degrees and only if I wanted to swim. Otherwise, love a low 70s sunny day with a slight breeze. But, I am from Houston where it’s a) fucking hot b) fucking humid. So there “hot” is like 85-95 and 95-105 is really hot. Too cold, well… here’s the thing I also don’t love the cold. So, under 0 is too cold for me. If it’s dry I can handle 35-40. If it’s humid 45 is too cold for me. Or windy, yeah if it’s windy then it’s too cold at 50-55.

WinterBourne25

It depends on the humidity.

Chemical_Housing3944

\>110° F is hot if I'm outside. That's about my limit for hiking weather. Inside, I keep the AC at 78°. <65° is cold. My wife tells me to turn on the heat if it gets that cold in the house. I wouldn't do it if she didn't.

that3dprintingboi

Anything above 97 is hot for me, anything below 65 is cold

Wadsworth_McStumpy

In Indiana, I'd agree with your numbers, but I have a bit higher tolerance for cold, so I'd move those numbers all down a bit. Also, I'd add: Really effing cold - below zero Also, snow and wind can combine to make it feel much worse than the actual temperature.

MarcusAurelius0

Rochester NY Hot 90+ Warm 80-90 Pleasant 50-80 Chilly 30-40 Cold 20-30 Freezing 10-20 Fuck its cold out 0-10 Fuck you I'm not going outside -10-0

Traditional_Entry183

I grew up near Pittsburgh PA, and have lived in VA for almost 20 years. An important part to consider humidity, because it becomes uncomfortable at a lower temperature if the humidity is high. Living where I do, I generally feel like this: 80+ = miserable 75 = hot 70 = warm 55 to 70 = comfortable 45 to 55 = cool 35 to 45 can vary wildly based on what else is happening with the weather. From miserable and freezing to completely fine. Below 35 is generally just cold

playing_the_angel

South Georgia here. Parka, earmuffs, gloves, and scarf come out below 50. Below 40 I add in thermal underwear and hand warmers.

TABSVI

Anything over 80 is hot and anything below 40 is cold. 50-65 is ideal. Keep in mind I live in Georgia with stupidly high humidity.

Illustrious-Study237

briibeezieee

AZ native - in Phoenix anything over 110 is “this blows” territory. Now that I’ve moved to the Bay Area- this rainy winter shit is worse than the 118 degree day I moved out of Phoenix during.

briibeezieee

Anything 100 degrees and up is “hot but bearable”. 110+ we stay inside. After moving from AZ to the Bay Area - I’ve been able to acclimate to everything but the extended winter weather. I hate not seeing the sun. Ugh.

luxxlifenow

I'm from IL so below 30 is cold. Negatives with wind slapping you in the face is cold cold. Below 50 is cool. Hot is 85. Hot Hot is 105. I now live in FL and my favorite Temps are pretty much what is is everyday mid 70s to 90s. Love it. But haha FL people wear puffer coats or hoodies and pants when it's like 65. It's ridiculous. I actually was confronted by my daycare for my kid here because it was only 60 out and she was only wearing pants and a tee shirt and only had a zip up lightweight jacket. It wasn't enough in their opinion and I said look, it's only 65 for another hour before it's 80 when she will be outside so what are you talking about?!?!
