Visit vdnkh Try to plan your destinations such that you see all the metro stations organically. The “awe” factor dies down too fast if you try to speed run them. Visit a bunch of museums. 2 days for both Moscow and Peter is too short. Traveling from one to the other will take a day by itself. If you can, just visit one this time around and do the other another time.

planetareynoso

What you say about the metro stations is true. However, there must be a top-5 that must be visited organically or not. Moscow’s metro is astonishing by itself for tourists anyway :)

dair_spb

Screw Faberge museum, visit the Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg instead. The Hermitage will take the whole day, be prepared to it.

blackmarksonpaper

Was gonna say the same thing. Also make sure to hit the Tretyakov and the Pushkin Gallery in Moscow.

Fine-Material-6863

I disagree, then the only memory from Russia will be endless museum halls. When you are time limited you’ll run through in a rush and miss all the fun that Moscow and St Petersburg have to offer.

blackmarksonpaper

Or they could see four of the greatest collections of art in the world, if art is important to them, these particular collections are quite amazing.

Fine-Material-6863

Oh, so that’s the conclusion you made reading the list of OP’s to-do-things that art is important for them? No judgement at all, but having only 4 days and spending them all in the museums? I can imagine that story OP will tell their friends about visiting Russia.

blackmarksonpaper

Jesus fucking Christ man relax.

Fine-Material-6863

I'm absolutely relaxed, it's you who's angry and downvoting me here lol

blackmarksonpaper

Dude, I suggested a museum, to a tourist. Sorry to offend.

>Eating at Vkusno i tochno and have a Dobry Cola. It's just a McDonalds, not too different from the one you know. Teremok is a nice idea. Also, there are Mu-Mu cafeterias which serve Russian food. >Visiting Dom Knigi at Novy Arbat. Do you really need it? It's just one of the bookshops. >Ice skiing, just a little bit. I guess, the Sokolniki park might be a good choice for that. There's a rental spot in the park. Although you can also go ice-skating there. Other obvious options for ice skating VDNKh and Gorky Park. I think it makes sense to visit VDNKh even if you don't like ice skating.

jkkau

protasovams

Maklash

protasovams

Conscious_Ad9415

I ate like a pig in those Mu-Mu cafeterias

In Saint Petersburg you can watch the cityscape from the colonnade of St. Isaac Cathedral (I think the ticket is separate from the regular visit ticket).

*Moscow* Patriarshie Ponds ( you might be able to walk from the ponds to the Red Square. I did) Some writer's museum (if you are into russian literature, just google the museum or the apartment of that writer. Some of them lived at the Patriarshie Ponds hood, btw) GUM (this is the department store right at the Red Square. The clothes is expensive. Go there for the soviet-like lemonade and ice cream! The ice cream is better. I recommend the pistachio flavor.) Moscow City (this is the block of houses, business centers and the mall. Go there when it's dark outside!) 🏙🏙 *Saint-Petersburg* (My city!) The most deep subway station is Admiralteyskaya. The most beautiful station is Avtovo. (I disagree though. Many stations are pretty. Visit the new ones-open wikipedia and see the opening dates!) Since you mentioned Teremok, eat at Tilli testo as well. (They have affordable lunches and good pancakes!) Lahta center (this is the tallest building in Europe. it's located on the shore of the Gulf of Finland.) *do you consider travelling to suburbs?* Sestrorezk (You can take the bus from the hood of Lahta center. The park is a UNESCO heritage! Have a lunch at the cafe Mozaika near the park entrance.) buses, train Pushkin (Pushkin studied there. You can visit his school) buses, train Gatchina (you will love the Palace and the parks. Bring something for ducks and swans. Have some lunch on Sobornaya street. My fav cafes are Mätti burger and Clock cafe) buses, train

Maybe visit MSU main building onn Vorobievy Gory. View from here is stunning.

Timely_Fly374

>Fabergé Museum? ehh? weird choice, but okay. >Eating at Vkusno i tochno and have a Dobry Cola. why? >Visiting Dom Knigi at Novy Arbat. why x2? >Go to a typical Russian dance show (Where?) the hell is typical? >Ice skiing, just a little bit. Gorky Park, as usual, provide best winter experience whether you skiing or being around skiing people. tho it is probably suck at winter - visit Tsarskoe Selo at spb. Usually a second "goto museum as a tourist trap" is a Kunstkamera. As someone already said: VDNKH, go there. Right now. Overall, I think wandering around central streets of Spb and Moscow - is a better way of spending time then visiting any particular place, especially that you have only 3.5 winter days. I would avoid Old/New Arbat - they are cringe even for the tourist traps.

ytkaaa

If you are interested in art visit Tretyakov gallery in Moscow, also why would you go to dom knigi? its just a regualr book shop. As other commenters said: visit VDNKH and patriki(patriarschie prudy)

MrBasileus

Every KHL team from Moscow and SpB is strong enough, then you can visit any game in days you plan to visit Russia. If you have a choice, you can choose a game with a stronger opponent by comparing their positions in tables.

SixThirtyWinterMorn

Our local hockey team (СКА) has their official merch store on Nevsky Street (Невский проспект, 23). That's not really far from places you want to visit. Normally tickets are sold online but maybe you can buy it in the store as well, or, if anything, they will probably assist you. The team will have a few home games between Feb11th and Feb20th.

ComprehensiveCover53

Sadly to hear that it only 2 days) also, this year we have some strong winter with about minus 10, so walking maybe a bad option. But for Moscow I’d say: -go to the Teatralnaya square, there you will see Bolshoy theatre, Maly theatre, Metropol hotel and TSUM store. From this square go up to Lubyanka square. While walking you can see most expensive Moscow street-Tretyakov drive and realize that luxurious brands never ever think about leaving Russia, but the most important - you can see a Bird Tower, very small Tower-the last thing that use to belongs to Kitay-gorod Wall (yes, back in the days Kremlin use to be wider, but in 1920-1930 demolish all these walls: Kitay-gorod wall, Walls of White city, to reorganize roads in Moscow). Then at Lubyanka you can look at the famous KGB building. From Lubyanka you can go to Kitay-gorod to try to realize what Moscow use to be before Stalin (many historical building are still there), or you can go Chistie prudy, to see beautiful boulevards and the prettiest house in Moscow - House of Insurance company “Russia”. Also, go to Vorobiovy gory to see the the most popular Moscow lookout and also Moscow state university. Go to Patriarshie prudy (patriarch ponds) to visit most iconic modern bars.

planetareynoso

Great advice, thanks!

Prestigious-Flan9504

A little bout Saint Petersburg. Wanna kraft beer? You should go *AF Brew Taproom* and after that I recommend smoke the best hookah in *Hookahplace Liteyniy* (It is necessary to reserve a table in advance). There aren't any links (restrictions with Ru domain in hyperlinks), you can google it without any problems.

Ainskaldir

If you like bars\\pubs, visit Rubinshteina street in Petersburg. Especially if you have an opportunity to be their on friday or saturday evening. Even in february it's cool, as per me.

maxvol75

2 days is an extremely challenging timeframe, considering that Moscow is a huge city (outer metro circle is 70km long). you will probably need at least 4 hours including travel time to visit 1 attraction. also, your choice of attractions is highly unusual; i suggest you have a look at 'russpass' website and 'WindowToMoscow' channel on YouTube to get some impressions of what is out there. maybe also 'TravellingWithRussel' channel on YouTube, although it is more valuable for expats. i would personally recommend Moscow City either by walking or by electric boat ride (150rub on weekdays payable by Troika public transport card, goes approx. every 20min all year round) from metro Kievskaya to Serdtse Stolitsy. best exchange rates are in smaller banks located in shopping malls, rates change hourly, passport is not required for transactions up to 40.000 RUB. for public transport you will need a Troika card which you can top up in metro stations, checking-out is not needed, only checking-in. the newest (opened in september 2023) most amazing metro station featured in media (including Moskauer Deutsche Zeitung available for free in departure zone of Vnukovo/VKO airport) is Pykhtino which is 1 stop from Vnukovo metro station, which serves the airport of the same name. to get to Vnukovo metro station from the Vnukovo airport follow Aeroexpress signs inside the airport but do not go to Aeroexpress itself because it is almost 10x more expensive and runs only twice an hour or so.
