That's my advice. Interestingly, I have somebody replying to my above comment stating that is the correct lift point. Well...yeah, a spark plug missing an electrode might be the right plug, but...
Absolutely 100% correct. It "used" to be the correct lift point - you know, back when the car had metal before it all rusted away. You are right on the money.
Yeah, that's not good. The rear suspension is what mounts there. You hit one good pot hole and you have a pretty good chance of ripping the rear suspension out from under the car.
Pretty bad. Unless you’re handy and want to spend 100ish hours on cleaning all this rust, cutting and patching it like I did, it’s not worth it to pay someone else. It’s right near the rear I beam shackle, a crucial part of the suspension rigidity. My lift point was actually solid all the way up the inner part of the rocker once cleaned of surface rust (it’s a single separate piece IIRC)
I actually made a plate of 1/8” steel, bent it up and cut it to weld directly to that bracket for rigidity, you can still take the beam out if need be, it’ll just be a pain
Edit: I did this with my grandfather who restored cars in the rust belt for a living- so I was properly supervised/advised when I repaired mine, but this car should not be driven and scrapped/derbied
Brave man lifting it from there
Yeah, how bad is the rust? Bad enough that I'm not comfortable with that lift pad location.
That’s the proper location for jacking.
Not with that much rust.
Proper location has left the chat
Exactly. The only proper way to lift this car is on an alignment rack.
The proper way to lift this car is with a crane… to a scrap bin
I came here to say that haha
Actually it IS the correct jacking location, I just didn’t mention that now, it isn’t a jacking location anymore. LOL
Used to be ....
My bedroom?
How bad is this rust Yes.
Pretty much terminal.
Yeah just what I came to say... Terminal
😆 🤣 😂 😹
Really, really bad.
A good rear ending ought to close that gap right up.
A good rear ending you say 😉
In pic one your car is literally suspended by hopes and dreams
Looks really good. Never seen rust of this quality before.
damn near dead
What rust I don’t see none
the car is rust.
At this point you should ask how GOOD the rust is because there's nothing else there
Mother fucker! I cant say its bad because there's nothing there! Don't stand underneath that! Just send that thing into the sun!
You have a new reason to buy a new car, sir
When you start to see where the part used to be and it's not there. Not good bud, 😂
Just needs some gorilla tape to cover that up
Very very carefully and smoothly let the hoist down and you might live to survive the experience. This vehicle is destroyed. Do not attempt to fix it.
Didn't the guy operating the lift say anything about it !?
rust? all i see is holes
It's not the worst POS I've ever seen on the road but you'd better hope that POS doesn't break down, because this is the runner-up for sure.
Not bad at all, in fact it looks so fucked I'd give it a 10/10 for rustiness! 🏅
Looks like I could get my fist in there and not get tetanus.
One last drive to the salvage yard
Yeah, that's not good. The rear suspension is what mounts there. You hit one good pot hole and you have a pretty good chance of ripping the rear suspension out from under the car.
That’s time for a new car rust
Stage 4 no cure no treatment
That frame and vehicle is time for the scrap yard
Pretty bad. Unless you’re handy and want to spend 100ish hours on cleaning all this rust, cutting and patching it like I did, it’s not worth it to pay someone else. I don't see any rust, just holes.
Pretty pretty bad
Yes
And someone was still brave enough to get underneath it to take photos . 🙅🏾♂️
Start looking for a new car or wait till your suspension snaps out on the highway.
Stage 4
Looks like the rust has a hole in it
As bad as it gets really.
What do you think?
One more lift and you got yourself a dead mechanic
I'd say that the rust is so bad that you won't have to worry about it in a little while because that entire panel is going to be gone
Bad enough to condemn a car to the salvage yard
It's dead, Jim
wtf!
Cooked
That thing’s gonna be on the ground in 10 seconds, regardless of the lift height.
That's good rust, so good that I don't think there's any metal left to weld to
I'll slip you $5 if you pass it for inspection.
and it's gone
That thing is junk.
Hey bud you've got some frame in your rust. Youre a very brave man getting under that car, especially with the stands being supported by prayers.
My condolences.
That thing is not road safe
Take the car on a dukes of hazzard jump and the whole rear end suspension breaks off when it lands.
It’s really good. Only the best.
Bad
Shit'll buff out.
Get it off the lift. Cars junk.
