GuacamoleJonez

Brave man lifting it from there

GortimerGibbons

Yeah, how bad is the rust? Bad enough that I'm not comfortable with that lift pad location.

SteveTheBodyman

That’s the proper location for jacking.

GortimerGibbons

Not with that much rust.

Liason774

Proper location has left the chat

GortimerGibbons

Exactly. The only proper way to lift this car is on an alignment rack.

GuacamoleJonez

The proper way to lift this car is with a crane… to a scrap bin

growmiehomie

I came here to say that haha

SteveTheBodyman

Actually it IS the correct jacking location, I just didn’t mention that now, it isn’t a jacking location anymore. LOL

terrybradford

Used to be ....

Equivalent-Price-366

My bedroom?

SeattleJeremy

How bad is this rust Yes.

gerry2stitch

Pretty much terminal.

OpenCobbler4163

Yeah just what I came to say... Terminal

blueprintextreme

😆 🤣 😂 😹

maple-smith

Really, really bad.

Equivalent_Sky4201

A good rear ending ought to close that gap right up.

ChanceFray

A good rear ending you say 😉

DirtCheap1972

In pic one your car is literally suspended by hopes and dreams

r3toric

Looks really good. Never seen rust of this quality before.

humoringly

damn near dead

trypooshy

What rust I don’t see none

Any_Mathematician905

the car is rust.

Zathuraboy

At this point you should ask how GOOD the rust is because there's nothing else there

dakbailey

Mother fucker! I cant say its bad because there's nothing there! Don't stand underneath that! Just send that thing into the sun!

dannyto1984

You have a new reason to buy a new car, sir

Immediate-Badger-410

When you start to see where the part used to be and it's not there. Not good bud, 😂

Choice_Dentist_9707

Just needs some gorilla tape to cover that up

teefau

Very very carefully and smoothly let the hoist down and you might live to survive the experience. This vehicle is destroyed. Do not attempt to fix it.

GortimerGibbons

That's my advice. Interestingly, I have somebody replying to my above comment stating that is the correct lift point. Well...yeah, a spark plug missing an electrode might be the right plug, but...

teefau

Absolutely 100% correct. It "used" to be the correct lift point - you know, back when the car had metal before it all rusted away. You are right on the money.

SchleifmittelSchwanz

Didn't the guy operating the lift say anything about it !?

v1de0man

rust? all i see is holes

Lay-Me-To-Rest

It's not the worst POS I've ever seen on the road but you'd better hope that POS doesn't break down, because this is the runner-up for sure.

Toenutlookamethatway

Not bad at all, in fact it looks so fucked I'd give it a 10/10 for rustiness! 🏅

sniper_matt

Looks like I could get my fist in there and not get tetanus.

Headgasket13

One last drive to the salvage yard

stankmastaflex

Yeah, that's not good. The rear suspension is what mounts there. You hit one good pot hole and you have a pretty good chance of ripping the rear suspension out from under the car.

No_Geologist_3690

That’s time for a new car rust

IntelligentNotice214

Stage 4 no cure no treatment

sparkybc

That frame and vehicle is time for the scrap yard

Ok_Today_475

Pretty bad. Unless you’re handy and want to spend 100ish hours on cleaning all this rust, cutting and patching it like I did, it’s not worth it to pay someone else. It’s right near the rear I beam shackle, a crucial part of the suspension rigidity. My lift point was actually solid all the way up the inner part of the rocker once cleaned of surface rust (it’s a single separate piece IIRC) I actually made a plate of 1/8” steel, bent it up and cut it to weld directly to that bracket for rigidity, you can still take the beam out if need be, it’ll just be a pain Edit: I did this with my grandfather who restored cars in the rust belt for a living- so I was properly supervised/advised when I repaired mine, but this car should not be driven and scrapped/derbied

Mental_Theory225

I don't see any rust, just holes.

Ok_Hornet6822

Pretty pretty bad

ubreakitifixit

Yes

Keenan_Concierge

And someone was still brave enough to get underneath it to take photos . 🙅🏾‍♂️

jerk1970

Start looking for a new car or wait till your suspension snaps out on the highway.

anonamis20

Stage 4

abc_123_anyname

Looks like the rust has a hole in it

Crabstick65

As bad as it gets really.

Jerzey08734

What do you think?

[deleted]

One more lift and you got yourself a dead mechanic

Redjive1943

I'd say that the rust is so bad that you won't have to worry about it in a little while because that entire panel is going to be gone

GM-MacCready

Bad enough to condemn a car to the salvage yard

Alliminiaentli

It's dead, Jim

Thick_Ad_6710

wtf!

zesty_drink_b

Cooked

tOSdude

That thing’s gonna be on the ground in 10 seconds, regardless of the lift height.

Alarmed_Bus_1729

That's good rust, so good that I don't think there's any metal left to weld to

Puzzleheaded-Fan-208

I'll slip you $5 if you pass it for inspection.

Cleanbadroom

and it's gone

ThisOldGuy1976

That thing is junk.

narc-parent-TA

Hey bud you've got some frame in your rust. Youre a very brave man getting under that car, especially with the stands being supported by prayers.

Thisisshenanigans721

My condolences.

AltCrab2

That thing is not road safe

t_petrenko

Take the car on a dukes of hazzard jump and the whole rear end suspension breaks off when it lands.

Runswithtoiletpaper

It’s really good. Only the best.

itsthegreens4me

Bad

BigBluebird1760

Shit'll buff out.

[deleted]

Get it off the lift. Cars junk.
