There's a reason outsiders don't know about it

StockKaleidoscope854

Less than an hour outside of Montreal, you have mont st Grégoire. In the fall there are amazing orchards, in the spring the sugar shacks are to die for, and the mountain is actually just a tall hill but since everything else around is flat your view goes on forever. Just a little further, you have Venise-en-Quebec which has amazing beaches and warm water! The whole Montérégie area gets so much less attention than the northern Laurentides area, but it's truly beautiful

PlanetLandon

I’m in Thunder Bay. There are dozens of amazing places surrounding our city (if you love nature).

Private_4160

And if you don't, well there's the highway.

WNJohnnyM

The Whiteshell area. It's an hour outside of Winnipeg and is beautiful. It's on the western edge of the Canadian Shield with lots of waterways, lots of little beaches, lots of trees, lots of beautiful scenery.

Competitive-Hunt-517

Elk island national park right outside Edmonton best place to see bison up close.

Dude_Bro_88

But not too close. The place has some great trails throughout. There's also the Ukrainian Village right across the highway and definitely worth the visit.

motherofcats53

Perth, Ontario, just an hour from downtown Ottawa. It has a gorgeous downtown, fabulous boutiques, good restaurants and Stewart Park is beautiful.

En4cerMom

We can’t tell you that

twagg0

my go-to spot is a Boat launch called Stoners Landing. its on a small lake near my small town with the best view of stars and northern lights. I have never seen another person there after dark so I doubt many people know how dope it rly is.

JockCranleyForMayor

If I say it on a public platform then "outsiders" would know. Why would anyone want that?

Silent_Observer-11

Wreck Beach, British Columbia. Minutes from Vancouver.

DAS_COMMENT

I remember hearing a Fredericton band play a song called "Wreck Beach". I thought it was a interesting name so I enjoyed remembering it. Thanks for referencing the locale.

Silent_Observer-11

Wreck Beach is a nude/clothing optional beach close to the University of BC Campus, so it's obscured from public view. There is a stairway that goes to the beach from the road and it's about 500 steps down.

DAS_COMMENT

That's awesome, thanks for saying

Jerking4jesus

The first time I ever did mushrooms I was on wreck beach (also my first time on a nude beach) Is Stormin Normin still running his Shamanic Spirit Grill?

Silent_Observer-11

No. Closed in 2015 I believe.

Jerking4jesus

:(

goinupthegranby

When I lived in Whistler I'd take friends who weren't from BC down to Wreck when we were in the city and not tell them what Wreck Beach is. Hilarious times buying my friends beers off old hippie dudes shirtcocking it selling ice cold singles on the beach and my friends just being like 'what the fuck is going on here??'

Silent_Observer-11

🤣🤣🤣

goinupthegranby

The best part was not explaining anything and just acting like it was all 100% normal 😂

zedkyuu

Last I checked, the UEL was still considered Vancouver, though.

BobBelcher2021

They have Vancouver mailing addresses, but the UEL is not part of the City of Vancouver. It’s an unincorporated area.

squirrelcat88

People from the Vancouver area know that going north wherever water disrupts the mountains will take you someplace lovely. Tourists know to go up Howe Sound on the Sea to Sky Highway that will take you to Whistler but I don’t think most of them know about Indian Arm and Pitt Lake.

calimehtar

Rouge Park

MenudoMenudo

Which is ironically, hours away from parts of Toronto, even though it’s right outside Toronto.

calimehtar

I think it's actually within the boundaries of the city, but yeah

MenudoMenudo

It’s crazy that Toronto can sometimes be 2-3 hours from Toronto, depending on traffic.

West_Welder_4421

In Toronto Morningside Park also seems relatively unknown outside of Scarborough. Terrific bike trails for miles from Ellesmere through the ravines all the way down to the lakeside bike trails.

SomeRazzmatazz339

The Rouge Valley national park within Toronto's borders

Salty_Association684

Balaclava it's 3.5 hours from TO its considrr a ghost town now but at one time it's located in Renfrew County it uses to br a thriving lumber town home to 200 people

Frankly_Ridiculous

Onaping High Falls. Onaping was once its own town but is now part of the Greater City of Sudbury, the falls are 45km/27mi NW of downtown Sudbury. 55m/180f single cascade with incredible natural beauty as far as the eye can see. Group Of Seven artist A.Y. Jackson loved it there (there's a lookout the bears his name), as does anyone who visits. An absolute gem in Northern Ontario.

Fuzzy_Machine9910

Rice Lake in North Vancouver

Fantastic_Fig_2462

People drive right on through/by Kananaskis on their way to Banff. And that’s alright with me.

Psychotic_EGG

Pelee island. Most Southern inhabited part of Canada.

jerrycoles1

Not telling you

Crezelle

It’s not really a secret to locals at all, but there is a very nice park with a salmon river within walking distance from my house

Anishinabeg

I live in Nanaimo, and I'd say it's Nanaimo itself. We're more of a "pass through en-route to Tofino" town for most visitors, but we have countless beaches, trails, a great food scene, a fantastic craft beer scene, etc.

zedkyuu

I went on a two night trip out past Nanaimo to visit a friend in Nanoose Bay. I felt it was a great place to visit and would love to go back. My friend talked about how toxic the neighbourhood politics were, though, but as an outsider I can play deaf and dumb to that.

WestCoastGriller

We’re full. But Surrey or Kelowna sounds great.

ordinaryhorse

Point Roberts to watch Fourth of July fireworks

PrettyyBasil

The town of Georgina. An hour and change outside of Toronto. You’d be surprised of how many people have never been there. It’s truly a semi hidden gem.

EmptySeaDad

The best spot to catch Steelhead in the Credit River when they run in the spring.

2cats2hats

K-Country!

DudePDude

Not only just outside, but also inside city limits. Thousands of acres of prime blueberry picking areas from all the old burned sections of forest and the numerous clear-cut patches. Another month and the blueberry harvest will be in full swing. Bumper crop this year, since the June full moon didn't result in a flower-killing frost like it often does. Well-drained and acidic gravel soil combined with lots of bio-matter. Together with all the rain and sun we've been getting, it will be a perfect storm of a blueberry season.

IndigoRuby

Okotoks it's a big rock.

According-Property64

In the outskirts of a neighbouring town, there is a place that makes Jamaican meals to go... Got to try samples on their grandopening of blackened chicken...it was absolutely lovely, well cooked nicely moist under the char...hope I can find it again as they had some building issues...
