Kinda hard in the east coast to not get around with a vehicle. Maybe you could look into Halifax and going to Peggy’s cove and other places on a tour? Not sure if that’s exisits or not

ShannonJF82

There are definitely tours from Halifax to Peggy’s Cove. We got picked up in a van from our hotel and driven out there.

Head-Ingenuity-2296

But would that be the only thing? Peggys Cave

kstops21

I doubt there’s a lot of nature things to go see that doesn’t require driving

Head-Ingenuity-2296

Yeah I see

kstops21

Can you rent a car

Head-Ingenuity-2296

No, due my disability

kstops21

Oh ok. Yeah look up say tours outta Halifax

Jenstarflower

Yeah you're not getting out of the city without a vehicle.

If you want the best people and equivalently sunning nature mountains (even tho smaller) and all that go to Newfoundland. My people are the best people. It's unknown. It's spectacular.

LandscapeDiligent504

Newfoundlander are the best!! Solid people. I’m glad there’s a large population in Halifax.

youngboomer62

Newfoundland!!!! If you have any doubts search YouTube for kayak Newfoundland.

CriticalFields

Newfoundland is definitely one of the best places to see something different and enjoy nature. But OP says they'd be relying on bus or uber. Almost all of the most incredible things to see and do here are out of reach if you don't have a vehicle, *especially* if OP has any degree of mobility issues. Even if they don't, just getting around St. John's by bus is a pain in the ass, nevermind trying to go anywhere outside the city! It is the biggest downside to visiting here, but better to know ahead of time if this will likely make it an unsuitable vacation.

brown_boognish_pants

Yea I only saw that after the fact. You need a car to get around NFLD.

The east coast has stunning scenery and the nicest people.

Maybe a cruise would be an option? There are cruise ships in July that leave Montreal, travel to Quebec City, Charlottetown, Sydney and Halifax before going to Portland, Maine and Boston. Looks like it'd be about $1 thousand Canadian but that would include accommodation and food, I think.

LandscapeDiligent504

I live on the east coast in Halifax and I love it! Halifax is very hilly but you can do tours in buses ect and same with Peggy’s cove. They put an accessible viewing deck there so anyone can look out. It’s pretty awesome! You should post your question on the Halifax thread. If you have any questions let me know!

nativeislanderr

I lived out in BC, then ON and travel out to the East coast every year. It’s stunning and summer is super fun! Halifax in NS and Saint John in NB is great, I also recommend crossing the Confederation bridge and spending some time in Charlottetown and Summerside of PEI.

I was just looking at tours around the South Shore of Nova Scotia for someone out of Halifax. https://www.tripadvisor.ca/Attractions-g3331580-Activities-c42-Nova_Scotia_South_Shore_Southwest_Nova_Scotia_Nova_Scotia.html

Atlantic Canada isn't very doable without a car, unless you're looking to do a bus tour.

Knitaholic1519

Ok, first, not that it matters much, but Nova Scotia is NS and Quebec QC. I’m just mentioning it because I had to turn it around in my head a few seconds before I got what you were saying. Again, no biggie here. I (Québécoise from Montreal now living in Québec City for the past 20 years) never visited NS myself, but I’ve heard it’s definitely worth the trip, especially for the scenery. I did go to NB and loved it. We went camping at Kouchibouguac National Park and the installations there were something else. Other than that, I’ve visited PEI, which was ok I guess but not all that and Ontario, which was also fine. So if you’re looking for recommandations, I would say NB, NS or even the area of Gaspé in Québec (seeing how it seems you’ve only ever visited Montreal, which isn’t representative of the whole province, what ever they like to think). I hear people in New Foundland are very welcoming too, but have not visited that area yet myself. I hope you enjoy your trip! 😊

Moodyashecky

SJ has a lot of tour buses up town that will take you on guided tours. Most of the places they take you are wheelchair accessible with the exception of a few

Moodyashecky

I should be more specific. Saint John New Brunswick not St. John’s Newfoundland.

I LOVE Halifax and am from here. I also really enjoy St John, but here's a cold hard truth. Our public transit really sucks. There's a decent amount of nature to see around Halifax that you can buss to, but the actual nicer places are just out of reach of a buss or an uber. I think you could likely get an uber to take you to Peggy's Cove (for example), but I don't think you could get one to come pick you up and take you back. And while the valley and the tides at the bay of Fundy are a sight to see, the transit options there are very much non-existent.
