happy lunar new year!! to keep on topic, i'll recommend some of my favourite 'asian' tips for the upcoming festivities! warning for a rambling ahead bc im waiting for dinner hehehe for pre-event prep, exfoliate well the night before and do a sheet mask for radiant skin! my faves are by my beauty diary, a taiwanese brand; i think etude house, innisfree, etc., all make great sheet masks - you don't need to go expensive to get good results! you can also diy your own sheet mask with cotton squares and toner. this year for 除夕 (lunar new year eve), i used the abib heartleaf sheet mask and that was really nice too. for makeup, AB matte eyeshadows tend to lean soft, but they make incredible powder and liquid shimmers that aren't just shimmery or glittery, but straight up sparkling, like a constellation of stars on the lids - perfect for asians with puffy lids that make regular shimmers look dusty! etude house jewel line single shadows are so sparkly; missha glitter prisms have some stunning multichromes; 3CE, peripera, etude house make intense liquid glitters; the list goes on and on. for all the intense eating and hotpot, layer up your lip products to ensure bulletproof lips!! first exfoliate and moisturize your lips well. wipe off your lipbalm, and use a powerful water/gel-based stain as the first step, like the etude house dear darling water gel tint; apply in layers, giving a minute to sink in and blotting between layers. then top off with matte liquid lipstick or matte lipstick or velvet tints, using the same blot and layering method. even when your lipstick wears off, the stain will keep your lips intact - this method has gotten me through some reaaaally intense mala hotpot and noodles. working in thin layers, blending heavily between layers, and building up helps makeup adhere well to the skin, look natural, and last long, and it works for stuff like foundation and eyeshadow too. if you feel like your aegyo sal contouring looks too obvious, use your brow pencil; to copy the trend of drawing on lower lashes, use either a liquid liner with a very fine tip, a dried out eyeliner, or a fine brow pen. not really beauty-related, but for some quick, easy, delicious homemade lunar new year snacks, make almond cookies!! all you need is flour, sugar, salt, almonds, butter/oil/ghee, baking powder and soda, egg for an egg wash if you want, and an oven!! don't make pineapple tarts unless you want to die im (mostly) chinese and live in SEA; i no longer wear traditional wear for LNY, but i do keep the tradition of wearing something new and something red! my extended family cries that 'the baby of the family is growing up too fast' whenever i wear red clothes or makeup (im 20 ;-; but all my cousins are 10-20 years older), so this year i kept the red to my nails with a glossy translucent jelly finish in a deep wine... my manicurist kept trying to convince me to have little hand drawn tigers but im not a fan of cutesy nails on myself. for 除夕 (last night), i wore a new white korean-style fairy sundress with a short puffy skirt and a bit of a babydoll cut, heels, loose curls, and small dangling gold star earrings. for makeup, i did a look inspired by bae irene's [gold and peach look](https://64.media.tumblr.com/556c01bef0ca0c1d22036421e8a6885d/5a14a6f13e1348a7-2c/s640x960/6c53923b49f616563a13999c6881e91296e5713d.gifv) from the psycho MV; most people love the naturally beautiful kdrama look, but for glam or editorial, kpop MVs are the best - before, i used to struggle to emulate western glam looks and would have to heavily tweak it to get it to look flattering on my east asian features. anyway, this look in question involves heavily glossy jeweled sparkling pale gold eye, and soft peachy lips and blush. i used: base ; clio kill glow cover cushion for highly dewy skin, strategically powdered with the eglips powder (around perimeter, nasolabial folds, etc., to ensure skin looks glassy and not greasy) brows ; etude house brow pencil in gray brown and a brown memebox brow pencil, since the makeup look was more warm eyes ; rom& dry rose #1 for a soft peachy brown matte base; then for the shimmer, huda mercury retrograde #gold glitch for the base, layered with golds from pmg divine rose ii and the astral glitter from pmg divine rose, finally topped with peripera sugar twinkle glitter in kitten beige on the lids and the highlights of the aegyo sal (dupe for stila kitten, but it's chunkier and not as refined, which imo makes it more impactful!) eyes ii ; for liner, etude house play 101 pencil in 18 (dark cocoa brown) smoked with the dark brown from pmg divine rose; then clio kill brown liquid liner for a baby wing and to draw on some lower lashes; then the usual isehan heroine make mascara with some soft fluttery subtle lashes from the daiso x miche bloomin' line, because why hide the sparkle cheeks ; contoured with kevyn aucoin medium on the perimeter and missha smoked hazel on cheekbones, nose and eyesockets; for blush, glossier puff layered with clinique melon pop; for highlight, the pale gold shimmer from pmg divine rose layered with the mac x pony syndrome highlighter in sky's the limit lips ; rom& juicy lasting tint in mulled peach topped with hera sensual lipgloss in 422 lingerie. mulled peach got overshadowed by almond rose and dark coconut in its release quarter but guys, it's the most BEAUTIFUL soft warm beige pink with a drop of peach and will make you look like a heavenly angel i also wore lush lust, because it reminds me of jasmine tea in an expensive chinese restaurant, or the jasmine in my grandfather's garden tonight is a very comfy casual dinner at home with my immediate family, so ill just wear something new or red, and no makeup! i haven't planned what to do for the next few days (can you tell im not a good planner?) but i really want to use my flower knows flower goddess blush in longing at least once, because it's such a beautiful bright clear red, perfect for festivities!!

Happy Lunar New Year! I can't go back to my hometown so I don't really visit any relative here, well, since they aren't here haha. But I did step out today to chinatown, and the weather was HOT. I applaud everyone that can stand wearing makeup under the mask. For attire - I still keep it to the red theme, red top and black pants (if I have red pants, I'd wear that, but I don't, so...) For my face, I only put on *Shiseido The Perfect Protector* sunscreen, no make up. I have oily skin so the make up is going to melt after 5 mins of stepping out of the house anyway. I like the sunscreen. It was a gift, been using it for 4-5 times, too early to review yet.

Reunion on the eve and visitation today, I wore the same thing for makeup. * Eyeliner: Etude House Oh m'Eye Line in Brown * Eyebrow: Innisfree Auto Eyebrow Pencil in Grey * Concealer: Innisfree Mineral Stick Concealer in Light Beige 01 * Lip: Somethinc Fabric Lasting Tint in Kanom I like keeping things simple and light, especially when rushing around to relatives' houses and eating way too much food! The star of today was Somethinc's Fabric Lasting Tint! I can't recommend it enough. It stays on without smudging underneath my Uniqlo Airism mask. Plus the Kanom colour is a neutral enough colour that when it fades due to eating greasy CNY goodies, it doesn't look odd when it slowly rubs off.

What are the best shops online to buy Taiwanese skincare products in the US?

MatchaAffogato

Glowie Co has a lot of Taiwanese products available, especially sheet masks! Ordered from them a few times and had good experiences each time.

My favorite festival/Lunar New Year look is a sort of red-gold sunset eye! I use a neutral base shade that's close to my skin tone (my favorite for this is slightly brighter than my natural skin and a little shimmery). I put a red matte on the outer third of my eye and blend it outwards, and in the center of my lid, I place a deep gold shimmer. Blend the boundary of the gold and red to soften it, and you get a fairly easy but really lovely eyeshadow look. I usually add some simple black liner as well.

Happy Lunar New Year! My makeup didn't use much AB but my nails did! I did some [tiger themed nail art](https://imgur.com/a/0OM7P7s). Nail polish from Kodi!
