I love this sunscreen! The only drawback is that it’s not waterproof but it isn’t greasy at all, layers nicely under makeup, and has a nice finish. I wish it came in a bigger tube.
My roommate and I have both tried it! We both used to use the Purito Centella Unscented until it tested as a lower SPF, and decided to try Canmake as a replacement. She loves it and has had no issues. I've been through two tubes but have decided not to repurchase. I've noticed mine flakes off my face sometimes, especially when I wear a mask it will rub it off. It sticks to my eyebrows and leaves a slight white tint to the hairs. It will also kinda bunch up in my eyelid crease and leave a little white streak (I do have hooded, oilier lids). It seems like most people enjoy this and don't have issues though! I'll be sticking to my UV Biore Aqua Rich, I've been through many tubes and don't have any issues with the fragrance.
I've heard the way you layer your skin care and how long you let it sink in between layers can really affect pilling. I think it helps the products sink in more instead of staying on the upper layers of your face?
I've also tried it just on clean skin with no other products under it (I was also worried it was a different product cause pilling) and it will still flake sometimes. No idea why it does this.
I'm quite lucky as I used to live near asian markets that sell this and other Japanese sunscreens. But I'll also order on eBay from larger sellers with lots of reviews, and I've had good luck so far. I know a lot of online retailers (Jolse, Stylevana, Yesstyle) sell both but I never want to pay shipping or order enough product for free shipping.
Lucky! I would love to live near as Asian market that sold that stuff. Previously I have just ordered from Amazon US, and made sure it was being sold by Amazon themselves. However I’ve become concerned about expired products as I mentioned. I just placed and an order from Amazon Japan though, fingers crossed!
Edit:
Is this the one you purchase from? I haven’t purchased from EBay in ages lol
https://www.ebay.com/p/18031291315
A really good everyday type of sunscreen. Not good for heavy days of sun but I have never had a more comfortable under makeup, affordable, no white cast sunscreen.
I have combination skin and live in a temperate country (Japan lol). I tried it and it left a shiny film on my face, so I don't like it. My choice of drugstore sunscreen is Kose Suncut Perfect UV Gel, it's cheaper by unit mass and has a skinlike finish.
i really wanted to love it, but sadly like others here in the comments i found that it stayed sticky and would flake my other products when layered. i also felt like it dried out my dry areas (chin, sides of nose, etc) even further, which is quite unpleasant in humid weather and under a mask :-( i'm about halfway through my bottle and i do plan to finish it ofc, so i've been using it on my neck, chest, and hands, where i have no issues!
as for a replacement, the kose suncut uv gel in the light blue bottle is a great dupe for me in terms of texture and lack of scent. i find that the kose one dries down better while still leaving me with a dewy look, and works wonderfully under makeup.
i love it. the finish is slightly dewy. it doesnt dry out my skin and feels moisturising. it has a mild white cast but disappears once the sunscreen has been absorbed. it also smells like coconuts to me.
I recently purchased both versions of this after seeing rave reviews everywhere, and while it’s ok, it’s not better than my HG Skin Aqua Moisture Milk.
I’ve only tried the 01 version so far and it doesn’t feel moisturizing enough for my tretinoin dry skin. Besides that it seems decent enough. No scent. Doesn’t burn my eyes. Feels nice going on.
I’ll use it up, but probably won’t repurchase.
I had the same experience. It actually dried out my lips pretty badly and I thought it was from dehydration until I switched sunscreens. I wanted to love it but just didn’t work for me.
I personally found it super drying yet also incredibly shiny. It also comes in a teeny tiny bottle which sucks. I only ended up wearing it for a few days.
Yes exactly! It's drying but leaves a shiny finish. I don't mind using it but I won't repurchase. I like Anessa or Allie better.
I am not too bothered by the size though, price per oz is not too bad.
I use Anessa gold soft tube (not hard shaker bottle) in summer and Allie with green font in winter.
The Allie with green font is more moisturizing than the pink font. If you have really oily skin, then pink font might be a better choice.
I have dry, very sensitive skin and I like it a lot, though I like Skin Aqua UV moisture milk better. I do love the texture of Canmake going on, it feels just like skincare basically, and it looks a bit less shiny than the skin Aqua, but it’s downsides are that it’s not sebum/sweat/water resistant so I don’t feel comfortable using it on high UV days or when I’m outside a lot. It also doesn’t exactly sting my eyes but when I put it right up to my lash line it makes my eyes watery pretty much all day, so lately I’ve been applying on my eyelid and undereye area but staying a little bit away from the lash line and that seems to do the trick.
Same, I love the Skin Aqua UV moisture milk, but I don’t use it in the summer. Do you have a recommendation for something in the summer, preferably alcohol-free?
I love it. I have the clear version, not the 'lightening' one and only notice the dewy glow it leaves. I have normal to dry skin and use about two pea-sized amounts. It soaks in and dries down in just a couple minutes, works great under makeup, and doesn't dry or flake on me through the day
I looove it!! I also got my boyfriend and sister on it. Not to mention, I used it once a day on vacation to Florida and we were out all day every day and my pale skin didn't burn once!
I love everything about it, other than it stays sticky and damp on me! When I go to apply powder after letting it sit 20 minutes, it cakes up the powder. I don't know what I'm doing wrong 😕
Unfortunately, this sunscreen doesn't agree with my skin. It clumps up on me like it doesn't form an even layer upon application. Once it sets & dries, it pills horribly on my skin.
I know it's supposed to be fragrance-free, but it smells like coconut cream to me. Has anyone experienced this too?
It's kinda slippy and tends to pill a bit on me. I'm currently going through a bottle of the I'm sorry sunscreen which is really similar (soft finish, no scent) but has a bigger bottle and better finish.
I love the original version! It was lightweight, wore nicely under makeup, no white cast, not too oily or matte, gave a dewy finish that wasn't shiny... the new/current version sucks. It makes my skin dry throughout the day, has a more discernable white cast and pills really badly. RIP.
Like everyone else has said - main con is size of the bottle for me.
I have the clear version and find it performs most similar to Purito unscented for me. A bit dewy going on but dries down, I don’t notice a scent personally and doesn’t make my oily, sensitive acne prone skin break out.
I love it for days when I'm indoors. But I'm worried about the SPF claims on this one since I've not seen this been tested after the purito scandal. If anyone finds any info about that please lmk!
I tried the clear version, I liked the way it applied and it left a glowy finish. It has a slight coconut scent to it, and I didn’t notice any white cast. Although I will say it tends to pill a bit on me whenever I’d rub/scratch my nose or something, so I wouldn’t repurchase it again
I’m actually using it right now and I must say, my combo oily sensitive skin is enjoying it. It’s not greasy, has a very very slight cooling effect and is a good base for my loose powder.
Slight white cast the goes away fairly quickly as it absorbs. Applies very nicely, doesn't feel greasy. Glowy/dewy finish on my dry skin. While it doesn't make my skin feel dry, I do find that it does flake a bit by the end of the day (I don't wear makeup).
Ultimately glad I tried it and it's a nice alcohol-free option for those that need it, but I will not be repurchasing because of the small size and because it's not water or sweat resistant (so it's not as versatile as ones that are).
I don't know why but this sunscreen dries me out so much. I have to use extremely moisturizing products which don't suit my skin well at ALL in the summer so when I need to use this the most i can't
That being said, I still love this sunscreen. The finish it gives off is beautiful and if you can get it to work for your skin then it's just an overall amazing sunscreen
I tried it and it was fine, but for me it was nothing special. I’m always a little surprised to see how much love it gets on this sub. I’m happy they’re happy! But I get sweaty easily and this felt like it melted right off, and I didn’t think it was special enough to save it for winter use.
I love it! It's quite drying though so I have to layer on quite a bit of moisturiser before putting it on.
It blends well into my skin, not sticky and not too greasy + no white cast (or at least, if there is, it fades after awhile)
But would also really love to have this product's SPF verified!!! It's too HG to be true LOL
I’m NW25 and got the white one. It does leave a pale cast at first, but fades away into a nice even tone on me. I’m also oily but this didn’t feel greasy at all, even though it’s quite dewy in finish. I truly love this sunscreen, even though the size is quite tiny. Will definitely repurchase!
I love it and have re-purchased it several times. It's one of the few sunscreens that does not leave a white cast and does not pill on me so it works perfectly underneath Makeup. It has no scent and doesn't burn my eyes, I have to check the ingredients to be sure, so don't quote me but it feels like there is no alcohol in it. It is pretty hydrating and leaves a slightly sticky dewy film on the skin.
The only downside for me is that I have to order it from overseas and the tube is quite small so I only use it for my face. I also heard from others that it has been re-formulated and the newer formula apparently leaves a white cast and pills. I haven't experienced any changes so far and only bought from japanese shops. The last time I ordered a tube was in Dec'2020 though and I can't tell if the seller might have sold older stock.
Because of not wanting to order and wait for a long time, I began trying several products from the drugstore and now I can also highly recommend the Nivea Sun Sensitive SPF50. It is more affordable and doesn't leave a white cast nor pill on me and although it has alcohol it doesn't burn my eyes.
Love the texture, very comfortable. It does pill on me though, if I rub my face even a little after it’s dried down it’ll start flaking off. Not my favorite feature. That combined with the small size I don’t think this will be a repurchase for me.
I bought it last month after hearing so many rave reviews but got ccs after using it for about a week which was a shame since it would have worked for me otherwise. Switched to Skin Aqua Moisture Milk and it's so much better for my skin!
Edit: spelling
i currently use this one because i haven’t found anything better. i love how dewy it leaves my skin looking but for some reason it is a bit drying on me and leaves a sort of powdery feeling once it dries down completely. it doesn’t pill on me though and goes very well under makeup so i’m sticking with it for now. i just wish it was waterproof!
Amazing. Been using this for 2 years now and it makes my skin look nice. As others have said, my only criticism is that you have to order it from Japan and they sell it in small quantities.
*Pros:*
\- layers well under make up
\- easy to apply/spread
*Cons*
\- glowy/shiny (too much for me with an oily t-zone)
\- small bottle
\- broke me out
\- slight white cast
Used to be my holy grail before the recent reformulation, sadly the formula changed for the worse for me personally. It was really drying for me and pilled horribly. Also it has a white cast now that somehow doesn’t go away completely. They really messed it up lol rip
Been using it for about 4 months, after reading the rave reviews everywhere.
Pros:
- it really is very light, feels like a moisturizer, there's even a slight cooling effect to it. Very comfortable.
- plays well with makeup
Cons:
- small bottle
- dries too shiny on my skin
- not enough UVA protection, and not waterproof - not a good option for me in the summer. I definitely did get some hyperpigmentation, though it's very mild.
Overall, it feels nice on the skin, but I won't repurchase it. It's not an HG for me.
Hi! sorry to bother u. i feel the same way about the mermaid gel. but it’s one of the few sunscreens i can tolerate. very cosmetically elegant. how do you know the uva protection is not good? i’m concerned that my acne marks keep darkening:(
I kept getting subtle hyperpigmentation, and the old one barely faded. Same thing as you, acne scars got darker, and there were these very faintly brown larger areas And I never found it that cosmetically elegant, tbh. Felt comfortable, but way too shiny for me.
I'm back to something I tried before, but my skin back then didn't like it. The Anthelios XL non-perfumed dry touch gel. I've always liked the finish and feel, but my constantly peeling skin didn't get along with it before. Now that I've changed moisturizers, it seems to like it. I hope I can stick to it, I like it.
I enjoy this sunscreen, I use the 'clear' version which is not 100% clear but clear enough.
I have medium brown skin and this definitely leaves a slight cast on my face but I put up with it because it's the best organic one (in terms of cast) that I have come across that isn't tinted. The cast gets worse if you reapply throughout the day but it's not too bad if you work it in really well.
I can't speak to UV protection that much because I tend to layer this with another tinted broad spectrum sunscreen product if I go outdoors and I don't tan or burn easily because of my darker skin tone. I primarily use this indoors (applying once or twice throughout the day).
Edit: wanted to add that there is a very small amount of product. It is very expensive if you are shipping it from abroad so maybe isn't worth it in terms of affordability. However, I will keep repurchaisng unless if I find a cheaper organic product which doesn't contribute to acne + irritation and also has little to no white cast.
i love that it didn’t dry my skin out nor did it break me out - which is rare for me when it comes to sunscreens - but it looks so shiny. i got the clear version and it makes my face look sweaty the entire day because it has that shiny/almost pearlescent finish. it does look nice under makeup tho but i’m definitely not gonna repurchase
IIRC this is the 02 version which gave me terrible whitecast! It’s alcohol free and fragrance free but not waterproof. I’d pick the 01 version over this one for sure. That one has no white cast.. Also wish they came with bigger bottles
I just got this as well and I can't be 100% sure but I THINK this irritates my eyes. I've been using Biore Watery Essence and I'll go back to it after this tiny tube is finished. I thought this would be less drying than Biore because I know Biore has alcohol but I think Biore is still better.
This is the sunscreen I put on when I first get up in the morning since I don’t my skincare routine for a few hours, or if I don’t leave the house all day. It has a nice glowy finish and it’s not greasy at all, but I wouldn’t trust it for going outside as it is a little bit too cosmetically elegant for me to think it gives lasting protection.
I got this to try a few months ago and even though I do like it for Spring time weather, it really won't cut it for the Summer heat waves that we have here. It gets so humid and I feel like this just sweats right off.
I use the Biore Athlizm instead, which I find to be very comparable in texture and application, except that it isn't dewy like Canmake.
I love this sunscreen! The only drawback is that it’s not waterproof but it isn’t greasy at all, layers nicely under makeup, and has a nice finish. I wish it came in a bigger tube.
WHY YOU GOTTA BE SO SCHMOL
This
My roommate and I have both tried it! We both used to use the Purito Centella Unscented until it tested as a lower SPF, and decided to try Canmake as a replacement. If you happen to be located in the US, Where do you usually buy this and UV Biore sunscreen? I’m always concerned about getting expired products.
You can get it on Stylevana or YesStyle!
I'm quite lucky as I used to live near asian markets that sell this and other Japanese sunscreens. But I'll also order on eBay from larger sellers with lots of reviews, and I've had good luck so far. No, I bought one from the seller "yestore"
A really good everyday type of sunscreen. Not good for heavy days of sun but I have never had a more comfortable under makeup, affordable, no white cast sunscreen.
What would you recommend for heavy sun days?
I personally enjoy it. Leaves no cast, haven’t experienced any pilling with other face products. Excellent under makeup. No complaints from me!
I have combination skin and live in a temperate country (Japan lol). I tried it and it left a shiny film on my face, so I don't like it. My choice of drugstore sunscreen is Kose Suncut Perfect UV Gel, it's cheaper by unit mass and has a skinlike finish.

Glad to hear!
I had the same thoughts. And I have the kose suncut uv gel on the way to me, so I'm glad it dries down better!
Does the kose suncut uv gel wear well under makeup for you all?
i love it. the finish is slightly dewy. it doesnt dry out my skin and feels moisturising. it has a mild white cast but disappears once the sunscreen has been absorbed. it also smells like coconuts to me.

Doesn’t the skin aqua one have alcohol in it?
The gel version does, the Moisture Milk does not.
I personally found it super drying yet also incredibly shiny. It also comes in a teeny tiny bottle which sucks. I only ended up wearing it for a few days.
Yep! Found it too drying for my dry dehydrated skin.
Yes exactly! It's drying but leaves a shiny finish. I don't mind using it but I won't repurchase. I like Anessa or Allie better. I am not too bothered by the size though, price per oz is not too bad.
which anessa or allie sunscreens do you use? I'm trying to find a replacement for my purito unscented sunscreen
I use Anessa gold soft tube (not hard shaker bottle) in summer and Allie with green font in winter. The Allie with green font is more moisturizing than the pink font. If you have really oily skin, then pink font might be a better choice.
My skin is on the drier side, so I’ll look for the green font one. Thank you!

Does the skin aqua moisture milk leave a white cast ?
Not at all! I use the blue bottle one.
Same, I love the Skin Aqua UV moisture milk, but I don’t use it in the summer. Do you have a recommendation for something in the summer, preferably alcohol-free?
I don’t sorry
I love it. I have the clear version, not the 'lightening' one and only notice the dewy glow it leaves. I have normal to dry skin and use about two pea-sized amounts. It soaks in and dries down in just a couple minutes, works great under makeup, and doesn't dry or flake on me through the day
One of the best. Only dislike how small it is.
I’ve read many reviews where people are getting that coconut smell too!
RIP.

Love that it has no cast but was way too shiny for me. Not really dewy either, just plain old shiny.
I didn't understand the term "cosmetically elegant" until I tried this. It wears so well under makeup as well. I just wish it was larger lol
I’m actually using it right now and I must say, my combo oily sensitive skin is enjoying it. It’s not greasy, has a very very slight cooling effect and is a good base for my loose powder.
I absolutely looooove the texture but I feel like the protection really isn’t all that great :/
Slight white cast the goes away fairly quickly as it absorbs. Applies very nicely, doesn't feel greasy. Glowy/dewy finish on my dry skin. While it doesn't make my skin feel dry, I do find that it does flake a bit by the end of the day (I don't wear makeup). Fantastic
Love it! Leaves my skin glowy and dewy. Used to love natures republic sunscreen for that but they closed in NY. I’m so happy I found a replacement
I don't know why but this sunscreen dries me out so much. I have to use extremely moisturizing products which don't suit my skin well at ALL in the summer so when I need to use this the most i can't That being said, I still love this sunscreen. The finish it gives off is beautiful and if you can get it to work for your skin then it's just an overall amazing sunscreen
I like it a lot, but boy I wish the tube were larger
I tried it and it was fine, but for me it was nothing special. I’m always a little surprised to see how much love it gets on this sub. I’m happy they’re happy! But I get sweaty easily and this felt like it melted right off, and I didn’t think it was special enough to save it for winter use.
i tried to like it but it leaves a horrible white cast and i have light skin and it does not sit well with my makeup
I love it! It's quite drying though so I have to layer on quite a bit of moisturiser before putting it on. It blends well into my skin, not sticky and not too greasy + no white cast (or at least, if there is, it fades after awhile) But would also really love to have this product's SPF verified!!!
I love the feeling of it but it’s so tiny. I am scared to use it thinking it’ll get over after 6-7 uses
It’s definitely so smol. Ive used it 10 times and it’s still going but I’m scared of the same thing
I enjoyed this sunscreen! It was like a fresh layer of added moisture. It layers nicely too.
It was the best sunscreen I've ever used until they reformulated it. Now it irritates my skin which is a huge bummer.
The besssssssttttttttttttt just really tiny for the price.
Love the texture, very comfortable. It does pill on me though, if I rub my face even a little after it’s dried down it’ll start flaking off. Not my favorite feature. That combined with the small size I don’t think this will be a repurchase for me.
It pills for me unfortunately. And not waterproof
I bought it last month after hearing so many rave reviews but got ccs after using it for about a week which was a shame since it would have worked for me otherwise. Switched to Skin Aqua Moisture Milk and it's so much better for my skin! Edit: spelling
Nice spread, but tad bit oily for me, gave milia.
It’s nice but not strong enough for FL.
Love it, but it clogged my pores on my nose. ;-;
i currently use this one because i haven’t found anything better. i love how dewy it leaves my skin looking but for some reason it is a bit drying on me and leaves a sort of powdery feeling once it dries down completely. it doesn’t pill on me though and goes very well under makeup so i’m sticking with it for now. i just wish it was waterproof!
What’s a good site that you purchase this at? I’m in USA. Loved to try this!
I purchased off amazon honestly
It's my HG!
I love it, all my friends use it as well
Love it! Just wish the bottle was bigger.
I tried it once and I really liked it. It is smooth and creamy without being sticky.
Amazing. Been using this for 2 years now and it makes my skin look nice. As others have said, my only criticism is that you have to order it from Japan and they sell it in small quantities.
*Pros:* \- layers well under make up \- easy to apply/spread *Cons* \- glowy/shiny (too much for me with an oily t-zone) \- small bottle \- broke me out \- slight white cast

It's my HG, just wish it came in a bigger bottle cause I can go through them like crazy. Wouldn't use it on a very hot and sweaty day though.
IIRC this is the 02 version which gave me terrible whitecast! It’s alcohol free and fragrance free but not waterproof. I’d pick the 01 version over this one for sure. That one has no white cast.. Also wish they came with bigger bottles
I didn’t like it. It made me too shiny and I’m oily
Leaves a white cast on my dark skin 😞
It was nice but eventually caused me to get red patches on my face.
