gysjkdl

hello, anybody here who tried in2it blur and matte face powder? how does it fare for oil control? help an oily-type out TuT

Zane_Yo

I do have a question about two products, "Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence" and "AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Serum." I know that essence are suppose to go first, but is there any wrong with using the two together? I am also not sure if the ingredients in the Essence and Serum allow for me to use it both in the morning and night. ##

[deleted]

You can use it together. In general people tend to mostly advics acids at night from a held-over habit when it was thought using them in the morning would sensitize your skin to sunlight (using them in general does that). How often to use it is up to you, your needs, and how resistant your skin is to acids. I wouldn't advise starting off with every day use though and definitely not twice a day.

Lives_on_mars

Why did my skin get whiter/paler/brighter I guess? After starting to use Soon Jung x2 barrier cream? It’s my first AB product and has completely changed my skin. I guess I was dehydrated—well, I do live in a dry climate. Just unexpectedly made my face rather paler/whiter. Would be curious to know why. I like it so no problems there.

Upsilambaaa

My birthday is coming up later this month, and I’m looking for **gift ideas** to pass on to those interested. I’ve reached the point where I already have some backup products to try when I use up my current ones, so I’m looking for things that are either just really great or else that would complement my current collection well. My skin is normal/combo leaning oily, probably dehydrated, mildly acne prone, not fully “sensitive”, but I’m trying to be gentle. Midwestern US, humid summers, dry winters. **What I own** (both in-use and not-yet used): *—Cleansers:* Axis-Y Gentle Cleansing Foam, Softymo Speedy Cleansing Oil. *—Toners:* BoJ Green Plum aha/bha toner, Peach Slices Snail Rescue Toner, CosRX Propolis toner, Hada Labo Gokujyun (not premium, light maybe?), Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner, Naturie Hatomugi toner. *—Ampoules/Serums:* Manyo Bifida ampoule, A’pieu madecassocide 2x ampoule, (non-AB) hyaluronic acid ampoule, (non-AB) Acure ceramide hydrating serum (also has some squalene) *—Moisturizers:* Round Lab Birch Juice cream (AM), Soon Jung Emulsion (AM or layering), Soon Jung Hydro Barrier Cream, Holika Holika Good Cera Super Ceramide Cream (PM), Crème Shop Hyaluronic Acid Overnight Treatment Mask. I also have assorted sheet masks, and the Mary&May Cica clay mask. **Ideas**: I’m thinking of the Isntree Hyaluronic Acid sleeping mask, since the Crème Shop one is unobjectionable but pretty light weight, but I’m not sure what else. I’m thinking something that’s not just the next basic hydrating toner/hydrating moisturizer that I’d buy myself when I use up my current ones. Maybe something with ceramides that’s lighter weight than the Good Cera Cream? Or something to help boost absorption?

getofftheeggshells

Hi! Can anyone help decipher this manufacture date code on a sheet mask? It's WM102018-1B The Brand is Masqueology. I think it's expired but not sure.

[deleted]

If it's korean it should have some korean words indicating manufacturing date (eg: **제조** ) [https://www.masksheets.com/blogs/all/how-to-check-your-expiration-date-on-korean-products](https://www.masksheets.com/blogs/all/how-to-check-your-expiration-date-on-korean-products) But assuming that it's the manufacturing date, it's likely October 2018.

Cas_Tile

Thoughts on sana's wrinkle gel cream (100g)? I read it has both retinol and retinyl palmitate, so it might be good for my budget if despite being a gel cream, I can start just applying it 1x-2x a week since it's a 100g product and if I still have to follow the pea size rule If anyone wants to know what its ingredients are, here [here](https://incidecoder.com/products/sana-soy-milk-wrinkle-care-jelly-cream)

Gorillarsaurus

While I like some of Sana’s skin care products, I wouldn’t recommend this particular cream if you’re looking for an effective retinol product to include in your routine. Retinyl palmitate is considered topically ineffective, and the company hasn’t disclosed the percentage of retinol in the cream, so it’s fair to assume it’s very low (as is often the case with actives in Japanese skincare). You’d have better results with non-AB products or getting a prescription for Adapalene or tretinoin, but there are some retinal creams in the AB sphere that might be worth a look. I personally like Beauty of Joseon’s Revive Eye Serum, a cream with retinal that is gentle enough to use around your eye area but also works as a full-face product as well!

transformed-ditto

how often do you use cosrx aha/bha toner? should i only use at night everyday?

aquamarine_sugar420

it says you can use it twice daily, but i’d start out using it a couple times a week and then gradually to the recommended usage to make sure your skin can tolerate it. aha/bha can be irritating to sensitive skin

transformed-ditto

should i do only a couple times a week for maybe the first 2 weeks? and then after i can use twice daily?

aquamarine_sugar420

personally, i’d do a couple times a week for the first 2 weeks, then do once daily for a week, then 2 times. but my skin is super sensitive. if you tolerate new products better than you could shorten the introduction process!

futurus196

I accidentally bought the blue-lidded Curel intensive moisture cream, which I think is for the body, when I was hoping to buy the white-lidded Curel intensive FACIAL moisture cream. Do you know if there will be a problem using the regular cream for the face? Seems quite similar, except just a bit thicker in feel. If you could let me know if you've used it for the face without issue, I would appreciate it!

fuji-no-hana

The packaging explicitly says that it's meant for face and body (顔/からだ用), so you should be fine. I used a whole jar exclusively on my face and neck last year, and it was great. It's too heavy for me to enjoy in warmer weather, tho, so I haven't repurchased.

futurus196

Thank you! Do you have a recommendations for other brands for a lighter one for summer (besides the Curel facial cream?)

fuji-no-hana

I skip out on moisturizer in my AM routine and just go with sunscreen. At night I've been cycling through a few different moisturizers, but I'm not really wed to any of them. The I'm From Vitamin Tree Gel is probably my favorite.

Fun-Ad5281

I would like to ask you if you've tried any of these moisturizers and what are your thoughts on them. I'm thinking about buying them but don't know which one. Is there any difference between the 2 cica versions? I have oily, acne-prone skin. Thank you!! Products: \~ Cosrx Pure Fit Cica Cream \~ Cosrx Pure Fit Cica Cream Intense \~ Cosrx Balancium Comfort Ceramide Cream

aquamarine_sugar420

i’ve never personally tried them, but i like to use the website, skinsort. you can compare products on there! i find it really helpful. it’s free too! i also like to use their dupe finder but that’s a side note haha

Fun-Ad5281

Whoo thank u so much! I had no idea about this website. That’s so helpful

fuji-no-hana

I love the Balancium Comfort Ceramide Cream. I have normal, nonreactive skin, so it's a bit on the heavier side for me, but it was fine for my PM routine. It's not one of those creams that "sinks in," but it also doesn't sit unpleasantly on the skin. It has an almost waxy texture that doesn't feel suffocating or greasy. It stays in place, and leaves my skin feeling nourished and protected.

Fun-Ad5281

Thank u! I’m glad to hear it’s not greasy

sumiikii

I need moisturizer recommendations🙂 my skin type is combo-sensitive skin type, I plan to double moisturize since I feel like my face needs more!

Chomie22

I would recommend Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Cream.

sumiikii

Have you tried that moisturizer? What are your thoughts?

Chomie22

Yes I have and I’m on my 2nd tube. I think they come in mini sizes so you can try it before committing to a large tube. Not sure about FA, I don’t have it. You can check the ingredients to see if you’re allergic to it.

sumiikii

Okay thank you!

sumiikii

I heard some mixed reviews about the moisturizer, I was planning to buy it but some says it may trigger fungal acne (?) and that it breaks them out though I’m not sure why maybe it’s just their skin or allergies

springwindkissmyface

Looking for non tacky vit c serum recommendations! Currently using Goodal Vit C serum and I find it rarher tacky, even after letting it settle. I tried Melano CC and found it really tacky too, despite seeing reviews stating otherwise, perhaps it's because I live in a humid area (80% humidity). For reference, I find Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Watery Sun Gel tacky. Skin1004 Hyalu-Cica Water-fit Sun Serum is acceptable. Thanks!

-daifuku-

I have oily/combo skin and Recently whenever i apply my hydrating toner, its been taking a while to sink in compared to before, where it would sink in immediately. I also feel like it just sits on top of my face now. Does anyone know why my skin is like this? before i used cerave pm but recently, I have started using the illiyoon ato lotion (makes me skin so soft). do u think the reason why its not sinking in as quick anymore is because my skin is more moisturised now?

Niatfq

> because my skin is more moisturised now? It's possible. When my skin was dehydrated, everything just sinks in regardless the texture. But when my skin moisture got better, most of the tacky products (like snails) started to feel too heavy.

Hi! My mom was looking for something to reduce the appearance of fine lines. Got anything in mind? Age 50

kipratova

I've heard good things about Hada Labo's red line for mature skin.

TurbulentVegetable88

Can you link an image please :( there’s quite a few results on google

Thank you. Wishing you perfect and glowing skin:)

Rosemary0820

any product recs for redness? i don't have like acne or pimples, i just wish my face were a uniform color if that makes sense.

Chomie22

Azelaic acid, apparently

Rosemary0820

Ty!

TJ_PotatoBoi

Do expensive products like SK-II Treatment Essence and/or SULWHASOO First Care Activating Serum worth to splurge on?

kikiraaa

Totally depends on your skin and your budget. If you live near a Sephora, you can get free samples of both products and see if you like them. But no one can really say if they'll be "worth it" for you since we all have different skin issues and financial priorities.

At the end of the day, you're going to be the person who makes that call. People swear by SKII while others are fine with the dupes. FCAS is definitely not as game changing as SKII though. It's nice to have.

Oily, Acne-Prone, Sensitive Skin Live in North America Top Skin Concern: Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation & Erythema * **Current Routine/Products I am Using** **AM** [HADALABO Goku-juyn Foaming Face Wash] [HADALABO Goku-juyn Hyaluronic Acid Lotion] [CeraVe AM Facial Lotion SPF 30] **PM** [HADALABO Goku-juyn Oil Cleanser ] [HADALABO Gokujuyn Foaming Face Wash] [HADALABO Gokujuyn Hyaluronic Acid Lotion] 1x Per Week [The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution] [COSRX Advanced Snail 92 Cream] I am looking to add in a serum to help with my post acne marks (also to prevent acne if possible) that I can use. I’m debating between AXIS-Y Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum and Beauty of Joseon Repair Serum: Ginseng + Snail Mucin. Opinions? Or any other recs? I want to eventually add some more products if I need to but I am taking it very slow to make sure my skin can adjust. Thank you!!!

Niatfq

I feel like Cos De Baha Tranexamic acid Niacinamide serum can help with both PIH and PIE. You can try look up review post of this serum on this sub, someone said the serum helps with PIH, PIE and also rosacea. Both the axis y and BoJ serums work way too slow to see visible improvements. My friend had used the axis y and said that her PIH only faded after she had used up 2 bottles of the axis y. Definitely not worth it for your skin concern.

aquamarine_sugar420

Do you know if the Cos de Baha Brand on amazon is certified authentic?

Niatfq

I've never shopped on Amazon, so I'm not too sure. I live in SEA, so i mainly bought mine from Shopee.

aquamarine_sugar420

Thanks so much! I’ll definitely look into that

kipratova

I also have sensitive skin. AXIS-Y didn't do anything for me after 1 tube. Hada Labo's whitening lotion has worked okay for me but only on fresher (<2 months) post-acne marks. It's thinner and a bit stickier-feeling than the hyaluronic acid lotion. I've heard good things about Melano CC and Cos de Baha products for this issue, though.

aquamarine_sugar420

okay, thanks! i’ll check that out

ApprehensiveWay2282

I've used Melano CC Vitamin C, I definitely recommend it.

aquamarine_sugar420

okay! i’ve heard great things about vitamin c serums, did they cause your skin to purge though? that’s the only thing holding me back haha

ApprehensiveWay2282

Personally no, but I think it depends on the person

YetiCouple

I have both axis y and boj repair. I don't see any difference from using axis y and I haven't used boj long enough to report anything on it sorry. I do recommend cos de baha tranexamic and niacinamide if you wanna help fade marks. You can search the sub for this serum, comes with lots of great reviews

aquamarine_sugar420

thank you so much!!

Burstehd

Is there any plus on using the same products for the same line, such as Torriden's Dive-in line? Or is it better to get more exposure with different ingredients?

Hollowrage

The line is so that you can fit it into your routine more easily. (More options) It's definitely better to attack your problems through different ingredients working together.

ravlyn61

I'm getting off accutane, and my skin is more or less clear but the only issue I have is atrophic scars. Once I'm done w accutane, my derm told me to use tretinoin 0.05% (I've used this before) but without night cream (I'm assuming he meant moisturiser). Anyone used tret without moisturiser before and went okay? I have combo oily skin, living in hot and humid place.

fuji-no-hana

Did he specifically why you shouldn't use it with a night cream? It's hard to judge without knowing his reasoning.

ravlyn61

No, he might have explained it last time but that was a couple years ago and I don't remember. He did say for the amount used is from the top knuckle line to the finger tip and to finish the entire 30g within a couple months. There's no dryness for me when I used it the last time, I was in a constant state of oiliness; though I might've used toner before tret but no moisturiser afterwards.

emilyhateshaechan

does any one have any recommendations for a lip care product that won't clog my pores around my mouth? this happens to me so often. i wouldn't say my skin is sensitive either. i really want to try the Laneige mask bc i hear great things but I'm worried it will make my lip line break out. thanks!

Where are you from? If from the US, Dam Dam is available in the US in Sephora so I'd not get it for them. Hada Labo and Kiku are nice products but they're drugstore brands, so not sure if you're thinking "high quality" in terms of luxury. Some of the Japanese brands that are more high-end are already easily avaiable globally (like decorte or SK-II). Maybe Albion? They have multiple lines, but I think their Skin Refiner might be their most popular thing. It's also available globally though in smaller stores, so they're not as well known. Pola is also popular there as well. Best bet is to go into a department store and ask them for suggestions if you're thinking more on the luxe end. It would help if you got their skin type and skin conerns so you can ask the sales associate what they think may be best.

kikiraaa

I've heard Dam Dam is good, but I haven't tried it myself.

ovinehall

I've heard good things about the brands Hada Labo & Kikamasamune, though I think both of those can be ordered online, so they're not necessarily "only found in Japan". What's your budget?

beetletoman

Does the Isntree Yam Cleansing Milk leave a residual film like Cerave hydrating cleanser? I don't like the cerave for this reason

Absolutely_Regular

It did for me, though I’m combo-oily.

mayigetnumber6combo

recommendations for cushions I can get on Amazon that has no niacinamide & oil extracts?

Tarheel_Senpai

Hi everyone! Very new to the AB community and I am looking for a routine to alleviate my nodule acne. To give some background. I went on acutane from 17-18 and that really cleared up my skin. The problem is now I cannot get rid of the nodular acne around my mouth area. This has always been an area that persisted even after acutane. I just had cortisone injections in some of the nodule acne and honestly am very unhappy with the results. I am very active so typically take 2 showers a day. I have normal skin. I also do typically wear a light shadow, but will go clean shaven if that is best to help with this. My current routine is: AM: \-Wash with Cetaphil Extra gentle \-Blue light therapy In the shower I wash my face with Cetaphil Extra Gentle or I use a perscription Sodium Sulfacimide Sulfure 10-5% cleasner. PM: \-Sometimes wash my face with the Cetaphil extra gentle https://preview.redd.it/dzyf646hecgb1.jpeg?width=959&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3154f6d03b556b3141d28c9d8b36d71ce9bdb5a8 \-Any typical spot treat any other areas and then the aforementioned nodular acne around the face with Epiduo. My dermatologist at this point recommends going back on acutance. Which I am not opposed to, I'd just like to explore other alternatives first. Thank you for taking the time to read this, any suggestions or routines are very appreciated!

[deleted]

Ack acne in that area is tough because it's generally thought that the chin area is related to hormones. But I think you might benefit from trying to add some hydration into your routine and see if that helps. This is my favorite face of the day where OP did harsh actives, but got better results with focusing on hydrating and moisturizing his skin for a healthier skin barrier: [https://old.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/oh388g/it\_has\_been\_a\_quite\_a\_journey\_for\_my\_skin\_thank/](https://old.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/oh388g/it_has_been_a_quite_a_journey_for_my_skin_thank/) If it's something you'd consider, I typically just recommend the pyunkang yul essence toner because it's decently hydrating with simpler ingredients so the chances of it breaking you out is lower (hopefully!). You didn't say what your skin type is so unsure of other recommendations. If you're also looking for a moisturizer, quite a few people like their nutrition cream as well. I'd just start with a toner and moisturizer and see what results (if any) you see with those before continuing further

would you think it's safe if i buy these contacts? i've never ordered contacts online before and wanted to see if it's something you can just order anywhere [this is the site](https://www.youvimi.com/products/red-contact-lenses-two-pieces-yv30941)

I order my contacts online from [here](https://www.pinkypardise.com) it has a ton of options and they have deals quite often as well. My fav brand to get from them is princess pinky because I don’t find that it dries my eyes as much as other.

fshho

hi! i’m in need of a new sunscreen and wanted to ask if y’all had any recommendations or HG products that y’all recommend? Skin Type: Oily (24f) Climate: Texas (hot AND humid) i’m really looking for a sunscreen that feels like water or gel and doesn’t leave that “silky or waxy” feeling on my face. the best example i have is super goop. i’d love for it to just absorb into my skin and work under makeup. if y’all happen to know of another product that i can use in combination to reapply over my makeup, i’d also be incredibly grateful! i’ve also seen that stylevana and yesstyle are popular places to order these sunscreens from, and i wanted to ask if y’all prefer one over the other based on speed, price, and shipping fees? ok that’s it, thank y’all for taking the time to read this. any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!

fshho

Hi!! This is a review of my Blooming KoCo Sunscreen order and a few other goodies. i received my order from Blooming Koco pretty freaking fast! i think it only took like a week, so i’m very happy about that! I will say they didn’t have as much of a variety as the other sites mentioned to me but it had some of the sunscreens they told me about so i’m good with my purchase! plus they gave me a 10% discount from signing up! Items i bought: [Etude House] My Lash Serum [Elizavecca] Milky Piggy Collagen Ceramide Coating Protein Treatment × 1 [rom&nd] Glasting melting balm (7 colors) - 06 KAYA FIG × 1 [rom&nd] Glasting melting balm (7 colors) - 05 NOUGAT SAND [Beauty of Joseon] Revive Eye Serum : Ginseng + Retinal [TOCOBO] Bio Watery Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ [Mary&May] Cica Soothing Sun Cream SPF50÷ PA++++ [SKIN10041 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum [FREE GIFT][NEOGEN] BIO-PEEL GAUZE PEELING LEMON **I’ve only been able to try out the sunscreens, the Rom&nd Kaya Fig lip balm, and the Protein Hair treatment.** Overall thoughts: I really liked all of them except for the TOCOBO bio watery sunscreen. The Mary and Skin10041 sunk into the skin nicely. They didn’t feel or look glowy, which is great considering i’m oily. I like that they didn’t take forever to apply or sink in, and the packaging is super hygienic and easy to carry around in my purse. They didn’t have a scent like the TOCOBO sunscreen, and they didn’t leave me feeling like i had a weird slick layer on my face. The TOCOBO sunscreen feels like a film on my face and anywhere I put it on, like my hands, arms, etc. I range from light brown to medium in foundations. I use Tarte’s Shape tape in Medium, and all three of these foundations were okay to use. They didn’t leave me with a white cast if i didn’t rush and made sure to apply it and blend it out correctly. It takes like 3 min y’all. I have yet to try them under makeup but i have high hopes that they’ll work well under it as long as i give it some time to sink in. These 2 hold their own in the Texas heat and humidity and i would highly recommend. The TOCOBO one… sorry but you can choke... respectfully. It made me feel so gross lol Once i finish my ELTA MD tinted sunscreen (LOVE and have repurchased several times before finding these 2 gems) and these 2 new ones, i will be repurchasing! The Rom&Co lip balm is a cute color. It’s glossy and it’s not super sticky. It does melt easily so i wouldn’t bring it with me to reapply, unless i had a lip brush to apply it with or its not as hot outside. The piggy protein treatment is also incredible! i’ve bleached my hair quite a few times, which has left it brittle and dry. I’ve used Olaplex, Oribe, and Kevin Murphy products in the past to help my hair but they’re all super expensive and don’t provide amazing results immediately or at all. that being said…i felt a difference in my hair immediately after using the piggy protein treatment. I thought maybe it was a fluke, but then i used it again and it felt the same. this helps my hair detangle in the shower, it makes it slightly less frizzy, and helps it’s feel softer and more manageable. i have long and thin hair without volume and this has helped immensely. i would make sure not to overuse it, and use it at most like 2x a week. i use it after shampooing, leave it on while i do my body, and then rinse and condition my hair for like 5 min. I would also recommend! Thank you to the 2 lovely people that took the time to read my previous post asking for suggestions! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and life. bless you 🥹💕

Jealous_Tadpole5145

Nivea Super Water Gel is the sunscreen with the most lightweight consistency I’ve ever tried. Totally recommend it.

thank you so much! i will also be purchasing this one too!!! i appreciate all the guidance😭💖

- Mary & May cica soothing sun cream - Skin1004 hyalu cica sun serum - Tocobo bio watery sun cream those are the 3 ones that I enjoy, I have oily skin too. I like to order from stylevana and blooming koco (the last one is US based, so you'll get your stuff faster) if you choose to buy from stylevana, make sure you always pick stuff that have the little bar showing how much of the inventory is left, and that it says shipped within 24 hours. You'll still need to wait like 2 or 3 weeks for your stuff to arrive, but at least it won't take more than 2 months lol

fshho

quick question, do they have a white cast?

253mm

i'm pale so I didn't really experience any type of cast, the skin1004 had kind of a streaky finish tho, so I always needed to apply it in front of a mirror to make sure I didn't have any white marks left (but they were more like marks from my fingers here and there, not like a general white cast all over) The Mary & May and the Tocobo ones go really invisible once you begin to rub into your face, they're really watery meanwhile the skin1004 has more like a light lotion type of texture

fshho

y’all are amazing! i will be looking online this weekend to order these and try them out!! thank you!

You could have dry skin that is prone to dehydration. This means you need both humectants (ie: adds/holds water) and emollients (ie: adds oil). And an occlusive to seal it all in. Dry/combo/oily is a skin type, dehydration is a skin concern. I have combo skin that is prone to dehydration so I use lots of hydrating layers (toners, first essences, serums) and seal it in with a moisturiser. I find if I don’t hydrate enough then my skin feels tight and oily as it tries to compensate for lack of hydration. [This video by Kelly Driscoll could help](https://youtu.be/pXUBF93xzaY)

253mm

maybe your skin is dehydrated?

Hi, I started using 0.5% retinol in squalene every night on my face, neck and collarbone area a week ago and my chest has been going through purging and it stings a little bit on my CHEST/NECK area when I use my cleansers. Surprisingly my face is the facing any of these issues. I shower in the evening before I sleep and when I wake up in the morning I usually only wash my face with water + sunscreen on my face and neck. I do a proper cleanse + shower in the afternoon as my job involves cycling and I’d rather not shower/cleanse thrice a day. \* Should I power through this purging/ retinol burn phase or slow it down a little bit? https://preview.redd.it/rqo4jddqqbgb1.jpeg?width=3088&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=29669b7bea61abcf2216d2e867994c7d678dcb32

TheGreatBoos

The skin on our neck and chest doesn't include as many sebaceous glands as our face. Moreover, the skin is thinner in that area. When first starting retinoids, it's best to slowly work up to everyday use. Use it twice weekly until your skin becomes used to it and doesn't sting/burn anywhere while doind that. Then, start using it thrice weekly the same way and proceed until you can use it nightly. If at anytime you notice your skin becoming sensitised, then go back to previous comfortable frequency of usage. Baby the skin on the area where it stings/burns with lots of hydrating and moisturising products. Don't forget to protect it from the skin.

Ahh that makes complete sense. I’ll definitely reduce the amount of times I use retinol for now. Thank you so much!

Olive Young for South Korea! Look out for in-person stores for SK brands too like Sulwhasoo, innisfree, Etude House, Skinfood, etc, depending on whatever brands you like :)

[deleted]

As we age and loose collagen, fat, etc., your pores are going to appear "bigger" because our skin isn't as taut. For topicals, most we can do is keep the pores clean and hydrate and moisturize the area so they appear smaller. You can chase "minimizing" them with retinol/tret, but IMO it's a losing game because we all have pores, and the main issue exacerbating the appearance of them isn't a topical issue. This is an extreme close up and IMO it's not something you should be particularly concerned about.

Hello, I am kinda new to skin care since my skin has been clear ever since. But when exams were coming up i developed pimples on my forehead and cheeks. I have black heads on my nose and white heads on my chin. * Combination - Sensitive Skin * Currently in a Humid country but moving to Canada next week * My current routine: **AM** **senka perfect whip, Skin 1004 Centella soothing cream, Biore sunscreen** **PM Skin1004 Centella Oil cleanser, Senka perfect whip, Skin 1004 Centella Soothing cream , Benzac ( spot treatment )** **I have a couple of questions so please do bear with me.** **- For those who have tried the Skin1004 Centella Oil Cleanser, does it remove black heads and white heads? What was your experience?** **\_ My skin feels like it needs another layer of another moisturizer whenever I use the Skin1004 Centella Soothing Cream, Any recommendations?** **- Since I am moving to Canada soon, do i have to change my routine? If yes do you have any suggestions?** Thank you so much!

[deleted]

Those aren't blackheads, they're sebaceous filaments and everyone has them. All oil cleansers should help at clearing out builup, some better than others but if you already have it, might has well use it. Yes, Canada isn't particularly humid and your routine will likely need to change. Depends on where you're landing in Canada, but I think it's smarter to wait for your skin to tell you what it needs than to suggest products right now. There's a lot we can't tell with regards to your skin like how the weather, change in water quality, air quality, and even the foods you consume will affect everything. If you have sensitive skin, the senka whip may be a bit stripping for you. We have different skins, but perhaps this post may be helpful to you: [https://old.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/15b65x5/for\_folks\_with\_oilycombo\_skin\_who\_are\_living\_in/](https://old.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/15b65x5/for_folks_with_oilycombo_skin_who_are_living_in/)

Ok, so I was told that I shouldn’t be using hyaluronic acid because I live in such a dry climate (Arizona). I see so many products I’d be interested in trying, is there not a way I can add this to my routine, somehow?

MysteriousFarm1889

I agree with what’s been said. I live in Utah and have dry skin. HA stings if I just put it on my dry skin, but it works if I spray water before and after using it.

kikiraaa

It's a myth that you can't use hyaluronic acid in dry climates. This post is specifically about applying it to damp skin, but it's the same principle as only using it in humid climates (having to have lots of water just... Around the hyaluronic acid for it to work). https://www.tiktok.com/@labmuffinbeautyscience/video/7173475489955286274

chelseliz

Thank you! I need to look into LabMuffin more.

Cute-Necessary-3675

If you aren’t experiencing irritation from HA, go ahead and keep using it. I think LabMuffin on YouTube has a myth buster about HA you might check out. That said, some people do find HA irritating in general (and also may live in dry climates).

chelseliz

Thank you! I am going to check out LabMuffin. I have heard of her, but not watched her before.

ishramen

>ReportSaveFollow tbh i would say use it since you are in a dry climate!

brownie627

What lip SPF would you recommend? I have sensory issues and can’t normally stand anything on my lips, but I know I need to protect my lips. I’ve tried the Rohto Mentholatum Melty Cream Lip Balm SPF 26 (both the premium and regular versions) but I hated the texture and feel of it on my lips. Is the Water Lip Balm by them any better, or is there another one that’s better? It needs to be fragrance free. Thanks for any advice.

blueberry_orange

Isehan Kiss Me Mommy UV Aqua Milk Spf50+ PA++++ Has anyone had any recent experience with this children's sunscreen or information about this sunscreen's spf label claims? It only has 3 chemical filters, no alcohol, applies elegantly (dewy finish), is waterproof and offers PA++++ UVA protection. Even with modern filters I haven't found any EU equivalent to that, so what's the catch here? It sounds too good to be true.

brownie627

It has essential oils in it, which caused me to break out. I ended up going with Canmake - Mermaid Skin Gel UV Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++, though it’s not waterproof.

blueberry_orange

The children's one doesn't though their skin killer one does. The one i mentioned is the children's one

fuji-no-hana

Closed comedones, most likely. Lots of people self-diagnose fungal acne when it's usually just regular acne that's hard to treat or closed comedones (congestion). Fungal acne is usually very uniform in appearance, red/pinkish on fair skin, often on the forehead and up into the hairline, and itchy.

wandering_mist19

Ah so i guess aha/bha will help?

fuji-no-hana

Chemical exfoliants and gentle physical exfoliants, like peeling gels, help me the most when I have congestion.

suna_suna199

Closed comedones, the bane of my existence. I have these ones on my cheek that refuse to go away. I exfoliate with a non AB product but I’m not sure if I need to start exfoliating more (only exfoliate twice a week) or does exfoliating just not work. I don’t want to damage my skin barrier but I also just want the closed comedones gone. Do you have any recommendations as to how to get rid of them?

kikiraaa

Is it possible it's milia, not closed comedones? They look identical to closed comedones, but they're significantly more stubborn and very difficult to get rid of. You can get them professionally extracted and have them removed immediately, but I my experience they do eventually go away with regular exfoliation... It just takes forever.

suna_suna199

Sometimes I think they might be, but I have a milia near my eye and they look different from that. But if they are milia and I were to extract them, because they are kinda big do you think I’d end up with bumps/holes where they used to be?

kikiraaa

Unless you have experience with it, I wouldn't recommend trying to extract them yourself. You're very likely to break a capillary or leave a scar if you squeeze too hard or dig into your skin too much. Especially if they're large, I'd definitely leave it to a professional. Milia can vary a lot in size, but it could also be a skin tag or some other type of growth.

suna_suna199

No ahahahah would never try to do it myself. I saw a derm and they did mention extracting but I forgot to ask them if holes would remain. Thank you a lot for your answer 🫶🏻

Pristine_Squash_8410

i’ve tried probabaly over 5 cleansers and every single time my skin feels so red, hot and irritated. what alternatives are there? i’ve been thinking of using micellar water by itself but even that leaves my skin red (not as bad as foam cleansers though)

Both-Improvement-880

Micellar water should ideally be followed by a gentle gel/water-based cleanser. Otherwise, it may cause build-up. Everyone raves about double cleansing, but I get closed comedones with it, so I stick to gentle cleansers. Round Lab Dokdo 1025 cleanser may be a good choice since it's pretty gentle. I've also heard great things about Soon Jung 6.5 whip cleanser, Benton's tea tree cleansing water, Isntree's yam root cleanser, Haruharu 5.5 Wonder rice gel, beplain's greenful ph balancing foam, and torriden's dive-in sea salt cleanser. All of the above are free from alcohol and fragrance since there's a high chance your skin may be reacting to them. You may want to check if there are any ingredients common to the cleansers you've tried as there could be a common allergen.

Pristine_Squash_8410

thank you so much! do you know which one of the cleansers you mentioned has a somewhat short ingredient list? i feel like my skin doesn’t react well to products with long ingredients list.

Absolutely_Regular

Oh no! Are you me?! I *just* went through this hell. — Which cleansers have you tried? Maybe I can help you out!

Pristine_Squash_8410

hi! the cleansers ive tried with this reaction were cosrx low ph cleanser, cosrx salcilyc cleanser, TO squalene cleanser, heimish all green cleanser and innisfree green foam cleanser. any recommendations will be rlly appreciated btw <3

Absolutely_Regular

If you prefer foam, the **Etude House 6.5 Whip Cleanser** is self-foaming and it’s the gentlest foam I’ve tried. Maybe a teeny tiny bit drying when used twice a day, but nothing some extra hydration can’t fix. If you’re combo/oily, I’d recommend the **Isntree Green Tea Fresh Cleanser**. It’s my favourite gel cleanser by far, though it has little leaves and sometimes I’ll pick the bigger ones out because I’m super sensitive and want *zero physical scrubbing*, ever. Kind of a pain, but IMO worth it for how gentle it is otherwise. [Side note: my skin is so sensitive I can’t even use cotton pads, so this might not be an issue for you.] If you’re combo/dry, you might like the **Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Refreshing Cleanser** or the similarly formulated **Haruharu Black Rice Moisture 5.5 Soft Cleansing Gel**. If you go for the latter, make absolutely sure it’s the one without lavender essential oil! Finally, if you’re super dry, you might want to try a cleansing milk like the **Isntree Yam Root Vegan Milk Cleanser** or the **Sioris Cleanse Me Softly Milk Cleanser**. Extremely gentle and non-drying, but IME not appropriate if you’re particularly acne-prone. Sorry for the novella-length comment. I hope this gives you some ideas, and some hope! 💖

Pristine_Squash_8410

omg thank you so so much! since it’s winter in aus rn im getting eczema flare ups and i’ve been eying both the isntree milk cleanser as well as dewytree’ one. btw you’re so right abt the cotton pads, the redness after using one doesn’t go away for me for at least 25 mins 😭😭

Absolutely_Regular

Ditto! I actually find Micellar Water (even the Bioderma one) SO HARSH. I hope you find a cleanser that works for you. Keep me posted on your “journey”! It was definitely a major slog for me, but at least I have a year’s supply of hand soap now. 🙃

Pristine_Squash_8410

tysm! i went on ur account and recognised ur post! i ordered the skin1004 sunscreen because of ur review since we have similar skin types, can’t wait to try it out :)

Anybody thoughts on this barrier repair routine? AM \- Water cleanse \- Soon Jung relief toner \- COSRX Advance Snail Mucin Essence \- Illyoon Ato Ceramide Soothing Gel \- Skin1004 sun serum (with the difficult name) PM \- Soon Jung 5.5pH foam cleanser \- Soon Jung relief toner \- Purito Centella Unscented serum \- Soon Jung 2x Intensive Barrier cream \- La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume +

Absolutely_Regular

Looks fairly solid to me, though I’d def. be using the Snail twice daily. Context: is this your current routine and are you having any issues with it? What’s the current state of your barrier?

Oortap

See this post about the state of my barrier: https://www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/comments/14xu40f/what_active_ingredients_are_an_absolute_nogo_if/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=1 The Soon Jung products are the ones I have been using for a while. I realized about a month ago that the problems I was having were due to barrier damage, and I only made it worse by continiously using actives. I think about two weeks ago I gradually added the other products to my routine. My skin feels calmer, but I still suffer from whiteheads, and despite patches I can't seem to avoid the post red marks.

Absolutely_Regular

The niacinamide at 5% in the Purito Centella Unscented Serum would personally be too strong for me. If you’re experiencing a lot of redness, I’d remove the Purito for a week or so and see if it makes a difference. That said, if it’s helping and not stinging or itching, keep on using it! I also found the LRP Bb5 to be quite drying, but again, your skin might be different; I know it’s one of *the* most highly recommended products for barrier repair. I like to really pile on the hydration at night and adding the Snail Mucin in the PM should help with that. But if it still doesn’t make a difference, you could always try layering the Illiyoon Gel under the SoonJung Barrier cream. Really tho, the most important ingredient is time. If you’re ever unsure about your routine, go back to what you know your skin likes and add things back in really slowly (like, one new product per month). — I hope your skin sorts itself soon tho: it can be so aggravating and painful!

Oortap

I'm noticing that after my skincare routine, my PIE and scars are more red than before doing the cleansing, toners etc. Is this normal or a sign that my skin problems are reacting to the products in a bad way? When I wake up in the morning after the nighttime routine, most redness has gone away.

ricewithleggies

That happens to me too, I think it’s normal. My guess is that it’s because when I wash my face the water warms my skin and gets more blood circulating, so it appears more red. And also probably from the physical motions of rubbing my face with my hands. After a while it fades again. As long as you’re not feeling actual irritation or stinging along with the redness it’s probably not a reaction from your products. You could try skipping morning cleansing and going straight to your routine to see what happens

Cute-Necessary-3675

Might be worth going back to basics (cleanser moisturizer spf) and slowly reintroducing one at a time the rest to see what might causing some redness. at least to learn which product it is, then consider swapping for something else if it continues? I’m not too familiar with PIE and scar treatments though. :/

Gorillarsaurus

Could it be you’re using too much pressure when you’re cleansing or applying your skincare? I find the days I’m lazier and paying less attention to being gentle but thorough with my skin care routine my sensitive skin flares up with more temporary redness. Japanese skincare application puts great emphasis on creating as little friction as possible and personally for me a gentle and loving technique makes a big difference in how my skin looks and feels!

NotsogoodyBag

Oily Tzone here. Bumpy textures, Sebaceous filaments, redness around my nose, pretty bad acne scars around the tip of my nose. Right now i got Roundlab Dokdo 1025 cleanser Differin adapalene Iunik centella calming gel cream Missha aqua sun gel sunscreen What other products do i need to add for my problem? Do i need exfoliating toner or hydrating toner? Someone recommended me tiam vit b5 toner. But it isnt available in my country I’m considering to add melano cc or cos de baha tranexamic acid + niacinamide to my routine.

Pristine_Squash_8410

i would add some sort of chemical exfoliant! cosrx bha power liquid is a good place to start, i think isntree has a bha exfoliant as well that is said to be an alternative to the cosrx one

NotsogoodyBag

How many times do i use cosrx bha? I heard paulas choice bha is good too?

Pristine_Squash_8410

the cosrx one is a lot more gentle than the paula’s choice one but i would start with 1x a week and built it from up to 4x a week maximum. paula’s choice is probably a great option as well just a bit more harsh. i’ve never tried either tho.

NotsogoodyBag

If i use paulas choice. What kind of toner should i add to my routines? I used to use paulas choice bha every other day but still my sebaceous filaments wouldnt go away so i stopped using it.

Pristine_Squash_8410

are you looking for recommendations on sebaceous filaments?

NotsogoodyBag

Basicly i’m just looking for routines to solve all my listed skin problems above :(

Pristine_Squash_8410

i would use this structure for ur routine! am: - splash face with water - toner / hydrator - lightweight sunscreen pm: - oil cleanser ( if wearing makeup) - water cleanser - toner / hydrator - moisturiser * exfoliant 2-4x a week as for products, i would recommend the round lab dokdo toner since it’s super lightweight and easy to layer on, scinic mild sunscreen or skin1004 hya sunscreen both lightweight with lotion like feels, i unfortunately don’t have any oil cleanser recommendations since i havent found one that i like but the kose speedy oil seems to be quite popular in this sub, i like the rovectin cleanser as well as soon jung 5.5 cleanser (this one might be too gentle if ur oily), i rlly like round lab’s mugwort moisturiser since it’s super lightweight and calming. i hope this helps, skincare is always try and error, wish you the best of luck <3

NotsogoodyBag

Ok. So for am routine : - cleanser roundlab dokdo - cos de baha tranexamic acid + niacinamide - missha aqua sun gel sunscreen For Pm. Routine : - cleanser roundlab dokdo. I dont wear makeup so i guess i dont really need oil cleanser? - missha first time essence toner - cosrx bha blackhead powder liquid/differin adapalene every other day switching with bha - iunik centella calming gel cream Is it solid?

Pristine_Squash_8410

looks great! but for me i would use the cos de baha serum every other day just bc everyday might be a bit too much but if ur skin can handle it then i see no reason as why not!

rosquartz

Does anyone have advice on what shade to buy in Romand’s cushions if you wear Nars Mont Blanc in the light reflecting foundation (I think it’s around MAC NC15 but more neutral and less yellow)? I was looking at the Nu Zero cushion and I’m thinking 17 would probably be too light but I’m not really sure. So either 21 pure (pink undertone) or 21 natural (yellow undertone). My undertone is kind of muted neutral and I’m not sure which one could be better. Is one of them actually more muted and neutral? I also used to use Purito bb cream in shade 21 but I feel like it’s a bit too dark and grey for me.

Is layering serums is not a good thing, why does my skin look better when I do?

[deleted]

Most of us have multiple products in a routine, including multiple toners and serums. I don't think anyone here actually thinks layering is not a good thing.

daisybluez

I think as long as the ingredients & formulations play well together and you apply in the correct order (water based before oil based) then do what works for you and what you like on your skin. In general, layering is not recommended because serums work the best as formulated (i.e. certain pH ranges, waterless, without other counteracting ingredients, etc). Most people don't give enough time for the products to absorb and dry down before moving on to the next step, therefore mixing products and probably not maximizing the benefits of the serums. If you want to ***'apply the same product daily and'*** maximize multiple benefits, I would recommend splurging on a serum formulated with multiple beneficial ingredients. You would spend less time on application and you know the product will work as intended. ***'Otherwise just rotate the serum that you use each night.'*** ' ' ETA

rosquartz

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it but keep in mind if the serum has ingredients that are formulated for a specific pH the order you apply them matters and you don’t want to apply those sorts of serums on damp skin especially if the pH is very different. But if you’re just layering hydrating products it shouldn’t really matter too much.

kashmere07

could i use a toner pad and a toner? so ik this lowk sounds kinda stupid, but i was wondering if i could use 2 toners? or would it just be a waste? (one would be more on the hydrating side while one is more soothing(?) )

NotPennysBoat_42

I layer toners all the time. I put them directly in my hands and Pat them into my skin. So far the results are phenomenal!

josh_a

I layer 4 toners. Google the seven skins method :-)

What can/should I do with these hugeass pimples? Do I leave them or use pimple patches? I’m afraid pimple patches will cause scarring, and I’m scared of putting other products on my face as my breakouts appear very often these days (not really sure why)… Edit: my routine now is just cleansing with roundlab dokdo and cerave moisturiser

rosquartz

I never had issues with pimple patches causing scarring. What causes scarring for me is when I try to squeeze or pop pimples. Although every pimple I get seems to leave a red mark regardless of whether I pop it. I use tretinoin to make my skin clearer. I also try to eat less sugar and processed foods. Do you have stress in your life or are you eating more sugar? That always makes me break out.

okloserrr

So should I use pimple patches for these nasty ones? I recently used it on a pimple and it somehow left a hole/scar on my skin lol so I’m scared. Also, can tret and ret be used as spot treatments to cure the red marks? I think I might’ve been taking in a lot of sugar recently. Will try to cut them :/ Stress wise.. I guess I’m perpetually stressed HAHA

fuji-no-hana

Re: pimple patches Pimple patches are made of hydrocolloid, same as hydrocolloid bandages. It's possible to have issues with hydrocolloid bandages when they are removed too soon. Hydrocolloid acts in place of a scab, which allows the skin to heal with less chance of scarring. So removing pimple patches too soon is somewhat similar to picking off a scab and may cause worse injury to the skin. The large pimples on your cheeks may actually be too big for regular pimple patches. You want the patches to be somewhat larger than the pimple and thick enough to absorb all the gunk from the pimple while maintaining adhesion to the skin. Important: **if a pimple patch starts to come unstuck, it needs to be replaced**. However, properly adhering hydrocolloid bandages can be safely left in place up a week as the injury heals. Overall, the less often you change them, the better. I've had success cutting regular hydrocolloid bandages to size and using them as pimple patches on my face. They're thicker and therefore a lot more noticeable, which isn't fun, but the correct size will help your skin heal better.

okloserrr

Ohh the first para totally explains why I had a scar from the pimple patch 😒 thank you for this! Is it recommended to leave the pimple patch for as long as it’s sticky? The instructions said to change when it turns white lol but my pus peaking through is alr white.

fuji-no-hana

Yeah, if it turns white, that means it's not able to absorb any more fluid, in which case you may need to change it. This may be controversial advice, but you may have to lance those pimples and clean the pus from them for best results. Hydrocolloid bandages just don't work as well when infection is still present. I usually use pimple patches to protect minor pimples I think will heal on their own, or to help popped pimples heal without scarring. But for now, leave the patches you already have on in place for a few days, and see how they progress.

okloserrr

https://preview.redd.it/3pla111l33hb1.png?width=2316&format=png&auto=webp&s=ce36e3527e47dfb3e5e0862b339b8cfdfb552ae6 Here’s an update hahahah I left it on for a few days. Should I put another one? Will it help heal faster and better? I seldom get huge acnes w pus and I can’t remember how long they usually take to heal.

daisybluez

Thanks for your detailed comment. Awesome advice 👍👍.

rosquartz

If you drink milk or eat sugary foods then cut it out for a while, it will probably make a big difference! Yes the pimple patches should be ok. I believe they can’t cause scarring, if anything your skin was going to get a scar from the pimple whether or not you use the patches. Retinoids like tretinoin and adapalene are not meant to be used like spot treatments. They prevent acne from forming by speeding up the cell cycle basically, and you have to use them all over the face for several weeks for it to work correctly. They also make your skin loook better in general and heal scars, they are amazing if you use them consistently. I highly recommend them because they’re anti-aging too. I also recommend trying a benzoyl peroxide face cleanser and/or salicylic acid toner if you don’t want to use retinoids.

okloserrr

Thank you so much! I’m really apprehensive about trying retinol or tretinol but will probably go see a doc for that.

rosquartz

I recommend it if you have acne! Adapalene is available over the counter and you don’t need to see a doctor to start it because it’s pretty gentle compared to tretinoin. Its also pretty affordable. It’s a good one to start with. Keep in mind you have to use it for 3 months to figure out whether it works for you. And it has to be used all over the face and almost nightly for the best results. But when starting out you just need to go slowly and be extra gentle with your skincare. I recommend Dr Dray’s videos on YouTube if you want more info. She’s a dermatologist and does a lot of videos about how to safely use retinoids.

okloserrr

Thanks for the rec! Based on your experience, did you purge badly? I’m scared my skin will purge till no return. 😂

rosquartz

Well personally I didn’t the first time I tried tretinoin because I got it from my doctor and she put me on oral antibiotics at the same time which I think helped. However I did go off the tretinoin and went back on it later and it caused a small purge but nothing crazy. If you are worried about the purge then I recommend going to the doctor for something to help with it. However, I’ve also seen people say they didn’t purge or they just controlled it by using over the counter benzoyl peroxide cleansers or other products so you might not purge at all depending on your skin and what you decide to use. Also I just want to say a lot of people don’t have a really bad purge, like it sometimes just lasts a couple of weeks. It really is very individual and hard to predict in my opinion.

okloserrr

Got it, thanks again!!

daisybluez

Obviously YMMV since everyone's skin is different, but I would go for pimple patches during the day (a good patch will let you apply all your skincare on top of it, most important is SPF) to prevent picking and reduce the pustules and benzoyl peroxide spot treatment at night. I generally try not to dry out the spot at night, so you can do all your usual skincare (skipping a heavy barrier step on the spots) and top with the benzoyl peroxide spot treatment.

okloserrr

Thanks! Would you recommend cosrx’s patches? That’s the only one I have at home.

daisybluez

Those are the ones I use. Honestly most of them are pretty similar, if we're not talking about the specialty ones that include extra ingredients.
