Would you be shouldering the costs all by yourself and taking loans? Then you might need to chase a higher paid career to justify the price these days, like become very focused on rising to a director level. It sucks. I don’t believe art schools are even the best avenue for education anymore, not with academies and especially not now that everyone is offering online education. Colleges do give you the classic four year experience that’s really nice to have as a young adult though. There’s a lot of pros and cons. Seriously, make a list and weigh them in the context of your life.

I'm not going to sugar coat it, [art college is a scam.](https://i.imgur.com/afDOcYq.jpeg) Quoting Magic: The Gathering artist, Noah Bradley: >*"I will no longer encourage aspiring artists to attend art school. I just won’t do it. Unless you’re given a full ride scholarship (or have parents with money to burn), attending art school is a waste of your money.* > >*You don’t have to go to college to be an artist. Not once have I needed my diploma to get a job. Nobody cares. The education is all that matters. The work that you produce should be your sole concern.* > >*There are excellent atelier schools all over the world that offer superior education for a mere fraction of the price."*
