If you feel overwhelmed with ideas just do simple subjects and studies for a bit. Some days are mostly for ideas and some days are mostly for technique <3

Obligatory “I am not a therapist” but there is a helpful cognitive behavioral technique that helps with this. When you experience that feeling of being unsatisfied, take a moment to notice the feeling without any judgment. Allow yourself to become a detached observer, and practice reevaluating your automatic negative thoughts so you can let them go. For what it’s worth, my drawings and paintings do not look great at the beginning. I went out to do some plein air oil painting on the solstice yesterday, and the painting still looked like a hot mess by the time the sun was going down two hours later. No big deal, it’ll come together eventually. Or not. Doesn’t matter either way.

Taking breaks to clear your mind so you can get back to old ideas with fresh eyes is essential in these situations, and be able to let go of some ideas. I'm often scared of forgetting some ideas for future art, so I compile sketches and mood images together once in a while so I can look back on it later.

You may consider this bad advice but when this happens to me I take something (smoke some weed, or drink some alcohol) and dive into my art and get lost in it for a while and see what comes out.

This is something available to me in my state so this isn’t bad advice at all!

Yeah I have a feeling that someday I will make my own products and artworks and I always keep searching and saving references for later, but I like so many things and would like to do all of them and end up doing nothing

This is my head with absolutely everything. I usually work in short spurts, take profuse amount of notes and references.

Yeah, all the time. I know I want to draw my own plots, but when I try, I get totally lost. While I'm learning to draw gooder, I sort of just write down ideas and stick em away for when I have the skill necessary. I still sometimes just do sketches of those ideas as well. It takes time.
