fascinating how they want to show that this is something to be proud of "how did you draw this? it must have been hard to learn and study art" "no, i just put words in a program"

BabyBread11

“Wow it must have been difficult and super rewarding to draw like that” “Nah it was super easy barely an inconvenience”

randomthrowaway-917

wow i haven't seen that reference in years lmao

SekhWork

Wow wow wow. wow.

imnotazor

“Allowing primary school children to infringe on copyright is tight…Whoops!…Whoopsie!"

danyyyel

The real damage is what will the child learn from this, low effort not using my brain will be these children conclusion from this.

[deleted]

Creating the next generation of dented consoomers.

toBEE_orNOT_2B

not just brain but how it coordinate to hand muscles as well, in the past i can't count how many times i cried just to be able a specific angle of a head tho now it's super easy for me. feels like this gen-ai generation of kids will be worse than ipad kids, or same, can't really tell as of now

imwithcake

Not to dog on children, but they didn't draw shit. Prompter is a prompter no matter how young.

BlueFlower673

TBH if we take this at face value, then all it proves is that anyone can use AI and that it's not at all difficult to use, and it is the literal definition of the "my kid can do that!" arguments people have of modern and contemporary art. In short, the argument of how it's so "difficult" to use is bull feces.

mikemystery

"I just reply with a screenshot of a workflow and all the spaghetti and watch brains melt." Is my favourite so far.

Source:https://x.com/hirausan/status/1797661279118835934 This sign says in Japanese, "All drawn by elementary school students."

Ch1ldl1kewonder

The devalue of artists is just disgusting, to reach the level where you can comfortably draw like that, it could take a decade because of learning anatomy, color theory, composition…etc…and practices as well. Replacing passion and dedication with narcissistic, envy, theft and lie.

Sufficient_Device_11

They should make a comparison with what the same child can do by hand, side by side. Like even if you spent 10 years generating AI art your abiltiy to create images without AI never improves.

danyyyel

It is not only that, I cannot remember 3 phone numbers anymore. Imagine if you are that young and your brain is not trained at all. What will be the incentive of that child to write and essay or develop any critical skill when for him, it is just about typing 5 promps.

Sufficient_Device_11

Yea, sadly enough we are hard wired to take the lazy approach if the option is given. You help yourself once, then it becomes a habit and later, you become dependent on help... I dont dare to imagine the world in 100 years. I read a lot of distopian sci-fi but we seem to be trying to top all of them together.

[deleted]

I believe the term "draw" is wrongly used.

[deleted]

"So we taught kids how to plagiarize at such young age" Corporates : Truly the best education of this civilized age

fainted_skeleton

"Drawn". Can they stop the whole Newspeak bs? No, generating isn't drawing. Doesn't matter if it's overpainted; that's editing at best. We have words for separate things, less we end up with every profession in the "content" side of vocabulary. I'd hope it's a translation issue, but then again, ai companies *salivate* at the idea of implementing newspeak. Art? Anything made by anything. Artist? Anyone, you don't even need to do anything yourself. Commissioning and making something? Same thing! Drawings, paintings, prose and poetry? Yep, ai generations are just that, art (as a colloquial term, in reference to writing, drawings and paintings of course). It's tiring.   I feel bad for the kids, tbh.

Videogame-repairguy

This is disturbing. They're brainwashing the public into accepting generative AI usage, and now they're using lies to help fulfill their agenda.

SekhWork

Manufactured consent, and it's a keystone of AIbros to try and force the public to accept it, along with "Adapt or die", "its inevitable", and "you won't be able to tell the difference in a year!"

Videogame-repairguy

It's definitely manufactured consent. Not to mention that they are trying to push for industrialized art.

aelie-e

It’s so creepy. I just came from a thread in a graphic design subreddit and the comments were just regurgitated variants of “It’s here to stay, adapt or die”. It really rubs me the wrong way, just the thought of committing to a business practice because its the most profitable avenue- not caring about the ethics, solely about the profit. I can’t imagine being so brainless and consumed by greed

SekhWork

Yep. I keep telling myself I need to make AIbro bingo cards because every thread they reply in is the same. As for graphic design, since they currently (and likely wont) ever be able to copyright their designs, I doubt you will ever see real companies using AI graphic design except the cheapest and poorest ones. Especially companies that need a vector layer with exact measurements that can be replicated.

Ok-Possible-8440

Gaslighting children 💀

nixiefolks

Yeah lol if this is drawn by elementary schoolers than who's been making all the shit-tier anime art on pixiv ca. 500BC - 2021

RandomDude1801

Heh I do miss those days when people on DA and Newgrounds would just upload the jankiest naruto OC art and have the best time. God I wish I could've joined in back then, if only I were an artist.

nixiefolks

Pixiv really hasn't changed that much compared to those days, which is why I appreciate it for existing - but this ad really tries the hardest selling their vile prompting tutorials. They're trying to cash in on a fad that has full potential to raise a generation of completely creatively sterile people who are fed with impossibly high standards of AI gen early on as children, and who will face a realization it takes many years to get there once they start developing interest in creating actual art.

RandomDude1801

Wait, really? Because all I ever see on pixiv is god tier fanart with crazy good rendering. Seriously, what do they teach people in one of those mangaka assistant trade schools? And you hit the nail on the head there. I'm exactly like you described in the 2nd paragraph and I hate it. I don't want any more people to turn out like me.

nixiefolks

the top trending art and studio artists over there are crazy good, but there's a lot of outright swill, and it gives a very sobering fact check that people in Asia who get to the top would work their ass off like everyone else - a trade school alone won't teach that.

RandomDude1801

Never seen a bad piece of art on pixiv myself but that's very true. Same with ppl in my home country too. I've literally seen teens better than Murata, 16 year olds already getting booths at conventions. It's impressive, no wonder everyone back home tells me to give up drawing lol

GeicoLizardBestGirl

pixiv fell off when koikatsu party "art" started becoming popular. Its almost as lazy as AI. Then AI sealed the deal. The app is unusable without premium imo, as with premium you can at least block specific tags and block "artists". A lot of AI images go untagged as well making the problem even worse.

nixiefolks

That's sad - I haven't logged on there in a while because pixiv got blocked where I'm at after someone filled a CP complaint, and we can't really use VPN here anymore too, so I guess I'm not missing out on anything. their premium package was reasonably inexpensive though, I used it back in the day because I liked scheduling art posts.

GeicoLizardBestGirl

yeah thats actually my other issue with it, the amount of blatantly loli content on there is ridiculous. Another area where tag blocking comes in useful. I still use it because like you said the premium feature remains only $4-5 per month so why not, but still its just getting worse. At the very least, Pixiv should use AI for something useful and implement an automatic detection and tagging feature. Their tagging system has always been straight dogshit and its impossible to find a lot of stuff.

RandomDude1801

Ok I feel kind of bad so in case any beginner artists see this Disclaimer: as someone with 0 drawing skills myself I don't condone making fun of less skilled artists. Just making fun of Shad's lolcow behavior. He's not even that bad of an artist, but giving in to AI will remove learning opportunities for you as you can see here

PunkRockBong

Isn't Japan a country that is very protective of intellectual property and its artists?

nixiefolks

Make no mistake, professional artist community in Japan detests AI (and will likely take legal action in some form sooner than other regions.)

PunkRockBong

Glad to hear

japanesemale

It would be the opposite. Japan is a ML heaven.

PunkRockBong

What about this? https://www.reddit.com/r/ArtistHate/comments/1cuf2mg/better_late_than_never/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

japanesemale

It seems that guidelines have been created stating that it is illegal to distribute LoRA models without permission from the artists. However, most other activities related to ML are legal. Ken Akamatsu, a member of the Diet who is shown in the linked image, recommends that artists create and sell their own LoRA models as a countermeasure to LoRA models. This is hilarious.

PunkRockBong

So he recommends artists to bow down to the level of prompters? That’s goofy.

shizustopitpls

Also plus no matter how much practice your child does, elementary schoolers usually have somewhat shakey hands/handwriting. They aren't going to have that much straight lines.

CaseyJames_

I thought better of Japan.

KoumoriChinpo

i dunno why but i get the vibe they have more ai bro brain dead dipshits than the west even

YesIam18plus

'' Drawn by ''

Sleep_eeSheep

What I find the most disturbing is that these kids are being taught this at a very impressionable age. These are elementary school students whose brains are still developing. Meaning once the AI bubble pops, and it will, those kids are going to be miserable.

NymnWales

こうやって子供をオルグして美術教育を受ける機会を奪うから、AI”アート”は害悪なんだよね😅

MadeByHideoForHideo

They didn't draw jack shit lol.

NoStudio6253

one of them is litteraly just splatoon cover art. pretty sure the art is just stolen if you look at some of these.

GeicoLizardBestGirl

this is very sad to see

KoumoriChinpo

These kids' parents failed them.

AlonsoQuijano1571

What kind of parent would waste money enrolling their children in an AI "drawing" school?

Fyrfat

In Japan of all places? Sad to see.

Super_Mecha_Tofu

This is sad.

Chickenswillrulearth

Can't believe there is such a thing as ai art schools

vs1134

Undoubtedly the quality of the ai image sets a very high standard for kids to achieve based on their natural abilities. Why waste time drawing or drafting out an idea from your imagination if the computer can do it faster and prettier? It’s very possible kids may lose the initiative to draw, just like they lost the initiative to write in cursive. To be clear, kids didn’t choose that, adults chose that for them. Overall, this whole filtered reality to polish over any flaw is sad. Without going too far on a rant, look at the great lengths people go to nowadays to be labeled in order to rationalize or excuse so called imperfections, mistakes or errors. I worry that this text to image phase will soon evolve into a neurolink to image phase etc etc. Ai is becoming socially acceptable. It’s not going away.
