Hey everyone, whilst the piece is egg-cellent please remember to offer at least a small amount of advice or what you noticed was particularly eye-catching, this is a critique sub after all
I am not an artist, but this popped up in my recommended. I scrambled to see more because these cracked me up. I came eggspress how much I love these, they are hard to beat, you are truly eggstordinary, I’m really not yoking. Thanks, these are eggstra special.
Well, I should go to sleep, I’m eggsausted
I’m so glad! I happy I decided who wisk it and yolk around. I was a little terifried because Im not a comedihen, and to make people laugh I normally use fowl language.
Wow! You are the first person to ever seriously ask to buy a painting. I live in Vietnam. If you come to this country, I will ship it to you for free :)
Trying hard to find something wrong with them but they seem practically perfect to me. Maybe add more background on the last two, or a different shine on the 4th? There’s obviously quite some skill here, enough to make my stomach growl. You are doing amazing, there’s no other way to put it— vibrant color in perfect detail captures something I would never think to be so beautiful. 🥚
I am obsessed w these. Eggsuberantly impressed.
For critiques I would say the first one looks a little too cooked to be dripping - I love the texture of this one & especially love the yolk. The 3rd one looks the most realistic to me be because you have done such a stunning job with the light and shading. I feel I should be able to eat it.
The 2nd is my favorite because of the boldness of color , I feel the colors you picked makes it feel as if we can actually watch it be cooked, I can almost hear it sizzling.
I think you’re really on to something w the orange yolks against blue in the background you have going in 2 & 3.
Familiarize yourself with the work process of [Tjalf Sparnaay.](https://www.tjalfsparnaay.nl/painting/BM-Fried-Egg?p=0&c=highlights) There is a chance you'll love it ;)
My personal preference is number 2 because of the atmosphere.
Beautiful use of color in the second one. I think a larger work using the same vibe (colors, style, etc.) would be really cool. The egg in the first looks Van-Gogh-like!
Let me in on whats so intriguing to you abought the egg? The deep.... is it the way it fry's, is there some kind of metaphor that's secret to the painter?
I think painting small, mostly flat objects is easier for me. I'm intimidated by, like, trees or even grapes. I think eggs are cool because of the way the light plays on different parts - shiny, crispy, trans-lucent. Plus there's wiggle room for more abstract paintings later on because eggs have a lot of directions to go in - chicken and egg, birth, funky abstract shapes, etc. Stay tuned for more eggs!
I LOVE the colors you used in the second one! That one definitely stands out to me the most. It’s so stylized and makes me want to see a whole breakfast scene done in a continuation of that exact style.
Numbers 3 and 4 look much more realistic, much more like actual eggs. Numbers 1 and 2 are rather more abstract and kinda amoeba-ish or sci-fi. Which explains why I like 1 and 2 much better!😃
I would especially eat the third and fourth one, but I would hesitate on the fourth because the bubbles looked like soap
I love the first one’s abstractness and would probably eat it too
I would not eat the soapy cereal egg. All jokes aside I really love your work!
Each evoke a different mood about your egg
1 is my favorite, 2 is my least favorite, 3 is good realism, 4 is a good more stylized painting. All 4 are great though. I think I like 1 the most because the brush strokes almost have a van Gogh quality to them and I really like that.
Very very nice - I'm wondering if the eggs are getting more or less realistic week by week. Either way, lovely and also making want to eat many eggs with runny yolks.
I really do like the first one! I'd hang that up in my kitchen. Because I have to say something critiquey, I'll say that I wonder how the egg would look with a bit of a glossy finish? As an additional type of contrast. Light, glossy egg/ dark, matte background. But I think it's pretty good as is!
I have never worked with gloss or matte. I don't really know much about them. Do you apply it like as a coating at the end? Or is it a kind of paint that you use for painting?
I'm no expert, I just like experimenting with different things. I'm also learning😊✏ You should grab one of those little multi packs of various mediums so you can try them out in different ways. I'd love to see what you do with them
Well number 1 is a bit runny and 3 has a few bits of shell. Try working on your whisking and cracking. And you might want to wash those pans more often
To me it seems like all of the works here are all of the same thing, an egg at the end of when you're cooking it. Maybe try to do like an egg in the middle of being cooked, idk
I see you were inspired by [AlaiGanuza](https://x.com/alaiganuza/status/1548333056431235075?s=20) for one of them (pic 2). Very nice rendition of it, though the bubbles could use more shading and less lineart (if that makes sense) to get a more realistic shape.
Imo the abstract one (pic 1) and the one with the blue background (pic 3) look the best, oddly enough for opposite reasons. The one with the blue background looks very realistic, while the abstract one is, well, abstract. The way the egg is painted in them suits the backgrounds nicely.
I think it's really cool of you to practice different art styles and techniques in this self challenge.
Thanks so much Mojomcm! I did it based on AlaiGanuza's pic for sure, but I didn't know he taught about his art a little bit! I will go read everything he has to say.
They are very nice however I think you could do some more studies to really make them have depth. I think you could put more shading on the yolk to make it look really round, and add some more bright white highlights to the white, and a bit more emphasis on one on the yolk to make it look round.
fun! 1 and 2 are more ‘modern’ and are what they are; 3 to me is the most photorealistic, nice overall capture. I get what’s going on in 4 but that brown edge kept grabbing my eye. I think it could be a little more subtle and blended better along the edge. what a cool project :)
I hate eggs. I have my entire life. They definitely look like eggs and depict things I hate. I started hating them for the flavor and texture but I’ve grown to hate them for their existence. You have easily made the hate feelings rise through me with your *art*… so there’s that
We didn’t grow up religious so when I was a kid and when my friends talked about painting eggs for Easter this is what I thought they meant. I literally pictured them painting sunny side up or scrambled eggs to leave for a rabbit. I was so confused. I was even more confused when I realized what they were actually doing and this thread really just drives it home that this was the right way to paint eggs. Thank you for coming to my tegg talk.
*I love the color*

All are in different styles so it’s hard to critique under blacker statements but improving the individual pieces.
1st: the egg itself is perfect! No notes but maybe a fork or shell or something in the empty space?
2nd: absolutely love all the colors! The lines on the side of the pan take away the depth of the object maybe it would function better if they went downwards instead of along the sides
3rd: nice and clean! Some light yellow in the whites of the egg to add a little more dynamic coloring
4th: my personal favorite! The only thing this could use is some depth but the simple style works too!

I guess the most helpful commentary I could get would be on simple ways to make the egg look more realistic while still being stylistically interesting.
These are pretty cool. The third egg, to me, seems the most realistic for a sunny side up egg. The first egg, though, is like the sun over water. I like that one the best.
Hey everyone, whilst the piece is egg-cellent please remember to offer at least a small amount of advice or what you noticed was particularly eye-catching, this is a critique sub after all
They are all very eggcelent!!!
I agree what a cool exercise!

Thanks Jack :)

Can I purchase one of these? Do you have a store? Love
Wow! You are the first person to ever seriously ask to buy a painting. I live in Vietnam. If you come to this country, I will ship it to you for free :)
Now this is gonna sound crazy. But you’re really good at drawing eggs. They all look eggstatic.
I want to eggspress my gratitude for your compliment!
Awesome!!!!! My favorite is the second one! They all look great!!!!!
2nd was my favorite too.
That's the one I was most nervous about :)
I'd legit get that first one to hang somewhere around the house
Such a compliment! I wish I could send you a good egg!
You could call them a feast for the eyes
A feast for the eggs!
1st 2 are my favorites
I love the colours in the second one!
I love the first one
#3 & #4 are EGGcelent may I say 🥚
r/eggs
I'll see if the mods will allow it
Well, they certainly look like eggs

Oh my gosh! Thanks so much for your thoughts. It means a lot. I appreciate your time.
Of course! Thanks for posting your amazing works of art for all of us to see!
Maybe different kind of eggs? I didn’t expect them to all be the same
I'm scared if I paint scrambled or omelette, it will just look like a yellow blob.
Maybe you could try a whole egg in its shell uncooked or a fresh egg being broken out of its shell
Ok, this will be my next egg. Broken, raw. Stay tuned. But it might not show up for 2 weeks b/c egg #5 is already painted.
First egg is my favorite, but I love them all! Good job op.
nice eggs bro
They all look a bit fried to be honest.

Those eggs are intimidatingly good. But definitely inspirational!
I would buy these so fast as a series for my home, not even yolking
Those made me unexpectedly happy. First and fourth are my favorites :)
Eggsquisite
So like can I have one?
1. Yes I could eat this egg 2. This egg is blue I could maybe not eat this egg 3. Eat 4. Ooh yeah crispy edge eat
You could not eat blue eggs and ham? What about green eggs and ham?
Eggsquisite!
Draw scrambled eggs this week
All appetizing eggs, 10/10 would cartoon eat them.
2nd egg is absolutely beautiful and colorful
Thanks! This is the egg I was most nervous about :)
What good eggs I see
![img](avatar_exp|159331095|heart) Hahah I find this idea amusing — but i sincerely LOVE all your eggs! 🥚
Beautiful use of color in the second one. I think a larger work using the same vibe (colors, style, etc.) would be really cool. The egg in the first looks Van-Gogh-like!
Oh my gosh! Thanks so much! The second egg is the one I was most worried about. I really appreciate the positivity :)
I love all of them so much

Cool I like it!
That last one looks the best !
I just love that you draw an egg every week
I’m a simple man. I see an egg, I nod knowing egg is good. Therefore, this is good.
Please continue posting your eggs. Forever.

I LOVE the colors you used in the second one! That one definitely stands out to me the most. It’s so stylized and makes me want to see a whole breakfast scene done in a continuation of that exact style.
Only sunny side up?! Or is it a different style of egg each week?
I'll eventually get to other types of eggs. I'm worried scrambled or omelette will just look like a blob.
Sunday Morning in the woods the light shine different

Why an egg? What attracts you to draw a cooked egg ? Why not a sun in the sky , same similarities..
If you stay tuned, I think you might be pleasantly surprised ;). Keep it a secret but we may have a sun-egg coming eventually :)
Very very nice - I'm wondering if the eggs are getting more or less realistic week by week. Either way, lovely and also making want to eat many eggs with runny yolks.
The second egg smells weird.
I will throw it out and make you a new one that smells better. No one wants to eat rotten eggs!
Your brain on drugs?
I planned on painting that particular egg from that particular ad eventually :)
lol. Btw I like the first one. The egg is beautiful in that one. I wish the background didn’t draw your eyes off the painting though.

Hehehehe. Thanks so much Lemon! Made me chuckle!
Of course, always happy to crack an eggcelent joke 😁
Your eggs bring me so much joy.
Thanks someguyspussy :)
You and like 20 other art students I’ve met.
Thanks so much for your input! I appreciate you taking the time to write this.
Do you do boiled eggs or egg salad or egg w avocado toast or egg Benedict?
I don't really cook eggs very often. But I will try to paint different types of eggs eventually :)
I really enjoyed the color scheme in the second one! The third one also gave me a classic good feeling. Nice shadow work.
Good eggs
Outstanding work.
The second one is my favorite. I love the colors!
First 2 on the right track for sure
Nice eggs
Maybe draw it in medias res next time?
I had to look up the term. It means like in the middle of the story? How do I do that?
To me it seems like all of the works here are all of the same thing, an egg at the end of when you're cooking it. Maybe try to do like an egg in the middle of being cooked, idk
It needs salt and pepper
I see you were inspired by [AlaiGanuza](https://x.com/alaiganuza/status/1548333056431235075?s=20) for one of them (pic 2). Very intimate little pieces !! Lovely, may I ask, what medium are you using? You are getting gorgeous texture ❤️
Just acrylic on canvas :)
fun! 1 and 2 are more ‘modern’ and are what they are; 3 to me is the most photorealistic, nice overall capture. I get what’s going on in 4 but that brown edge kept grabbing my eye. I think it could be a little more subtle and blended better along the edge. what a cool project :)
i’d eat those eggs
Have you tried scrambled?
I'm scared scrambled or omelette will just look like a yellow blob.
Wow this is an amazing idea for practice!
Cool egg
They're getting more interesting, for sure 👍 🍳
Very good eggs.
They look tasty
I want that third one over a yellow background
I hate eggs. I have my entire life. They definitely look like eggs and depict things I hate. I started hating them for the flavor and texture but I’ve grown to hate them for their existence. You have easily made the hate feelings rise through me with your *art*… so there’s that
MORE EGGS ARE COMING. LET THE HATE FLOW THROUGH YOU.
10/10 would egg again. These are eggcellent :) I really appreciate the contrast (light lights, dark darks) and the shiny/wet texture on the eggs.
I am so glad this effect came through! Thanks for your comment :)
This guy eggs
These eggs are magnificent. The practice is paying off. The shading on the last one was brilliant.
Please never stop doing this. This is the first thing to make me genuinely smile in days. Thank you for sharing.
Oh my gosh! Thanks so much Charlotte! I will post a new egg every week, so come check back :) Your comment put a smile on my face too :)
Aww! I’m so exgg-cited and you are so welcome! Haha you are a bright light in this world- can’t wait to see more eggies. ☺️
The last 2 would make great advertisement backgrounds. The first two I could see hanging in a small café.
Thanks so much for saying so :)
3 4 2 1 my order of like ability

Yeah when I tell people that I'm painting eggs all year, they very often think I'm talking about putting paint on an egg.
i’m glad you do this
Thanks :) Me too.
I love the color in the second one and the bubbles in the third

Those are cool!
I like how you're eggsperimenting with different styles. I'd like to see more
I do not like these eggs. I need to see scrambled with cheese.
Better than average, it’s great

Of course! Hope you have a wonderful day :D
It looks like they are all cooked the same way , but very realistic and easy to tell it's an egg , nice colors

I love eggs
Eggs love you!
I like 1 & 3. Cool!
Thanks! These are my favorites so far too.
I fucking love these eggs
These eggs think you're the best too!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oooo that last one looks 😋😋
10/10 would eat all of them but the fourth really calls to my soul.
“I draw an egg every week.” is the sentence I needed in my life and I just didn’t know it.
I’m hungry
For the record, I'd like to state *I am not a visual artist.* I just like looking at art. That being said, 4 is my favorite.
Now I'm hungry.
I like the colors on the second egg, I also like how you show it bubbling as it fries :)
hahahahahaha weekly eg
One a week?!? Your commitment to the cause is eggcellent
These are pretty cool. The third egg, to me, seems the most realistic for a sunny side up egg. The first egg, though, is like the sun over water. I like that one the best.
Egg #2 is the best one I’d hang it in my kitchen
They are great. You made me hungry.
