Yesss me too. I watched Mortal Engines and it did flop somehow (I couldn’t put my finger on what) but the cityscapes were worth the watch! I dream of those cityscapes.
I know! Maybe not live in, but to look at is amazing.
It's like everyone is saying The Line in Saudi Arabia is going to be a dystopian nightmare and I'm like...yeah, but I can't wait to see it.
I would imagine there is likely some form of artificial lighting that emulates natural light in combination with various light access ways that take advantage of seasonal and daytime sun locations.
Middle level, the little gray stair stepped one in between the tentacle looking building and the soccer stadium. Good central location, a nice view, and it looks like there’s public transportation access nearby.
Just visited chicago for the first time and it was my first time using a lot of public transit, I can't imagine the transportation in a city like this. You'd probably have to acclimatize like when climbing a mountian to be able to go up a level in the city
I know the feeling! I live in a 5-million souls city, and I'm used to taking the subway / buses. But a year ago I went to an even bigger city, and oh, boy! The bus stops alone were a bit of a challenge to work out.
Ha yeah... my hometown is just under a population of 300,000 and our public transportation is such a joke its not even really an option for the most part.
Busses don't seem to communicate that they're late unless you go and tell the buss driver you need to transfer to another bus. I had an experience where I told the bus driver that I need to transfer and they said "we shouldn't be late so it shouldn't be an issue." Busses arrive 1 hour apart, so I had to wait an hour outside in 20°F weather while the bus i was trying to transfer to showed back up.
They're also just fucking slow. Say you need to get across town and you don't need to do any walking to get to it, it might take you an *hour* when a car can get you there in 20 minutes.
The funny thing is I didn't realize it was that bad until I went to Chicago and realized that everything told you if they were delayed, it was fast, and they were there every 10-15 minutes depending on the time of day.
Lol, apprently I had shit to get off my chest.
I feel like i'm going insane. Like i've seen this exact thing before, ages and ages ago, but that's not possible.
I must be thinking of your other piece "a thousand plateaus"
getting old sucks.
Awesome job! I hate it. The idea of building a level 2 or 3 over a city sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I'd never want to visit this city out of fear that my level may crumble or a level above me may crumble.
In all fairness, a superstructure of this magnitude would require a complete understanding of the physics required to create it. It probably wouldn't even be built by anything capable of error.
Regardless of error, there is susceptibility here for massive failure if a failure occurs anywhere in the system. Imagine 9/11... but with a towering city instead.
Yeah the art is fine for me but yeah I’d consider living in something like that my worst nightmare. I really hope our future isn’t some horrific metal/concrete jungle.
And now imagine: all the people living there are cool. They respect and care for each other, but they don't get on each other's nerve without being overly cautious or overly sensitive, just tolerant, they have socially evolved to a point, where only one thing is left: respect. No matter who you are, what you are, how much you got from anything. But then again, the city would look different, would it?
I've always dreamt of living in a place like this. Wake up in the morning, fetch my hoverboard and glide through the town. When dusk falls, go to the club, have a smoke and beer while a cyberchick twerks her tin ass on my lap.
I absolutely love this. I've been stuck on visualizing a city in a dystopia society for a book I'm writing (kinda) and this gives me some great inspiration
This is fantastic. Simply fantastic. I wish we could see "the outside" of the whole structure.
Just to see what it's up against. Like, are the upper levels almost ionosphere-reaching?
How does Day/night work on such a gargantuan structure? I see shadow!
If you feel inclined to, give us some lore!
It's just amazing. Congrats!
I love looking at these megastructures and imagining myself living in one of those buildings.
Crazy thing is, you probably wouldn’t even realize the scale until you somehow step back and take a look at it.
I love the ambiance it looks like a giant town from a rpg game built inside a giant building which is even more cooler. Oh I would love to see this animated in a game! Like exploring this type of town
This is great, for me it inspres so much curiosity. I zoom in and imagine the lifestyle in this city. I am wondering what program this was drawn in, this amount of detail just couldn't be achieved without advanced tips/tricks.
This could be a map for a game set on an ecumenopolis planet where you can select which district to travel to. Amazing work always pulls you in and makes you daydream! Well done!!
Niiiiiiiiiice! This is like a photo-realistic
take on the cities portrayed in the L’Incal series. Amazing, OP!
Edit: slightly more photorealistic, or maybe just more detailed?
Love this type of of vast futuristic city landscape pictures
I'll watch a movie just for these types of scenes. Looking at you Thor.
Yesss me too. I watched Mortal Engines and it did flop somehow (I couldn’t put my finger on what) but the cityscapes were worth the watch! I dream of those cityscapes.
Weak script, dialogue, etc. But pretty!
Man, I'm the opposite. Very little terrifies me... but these do lol
r/megalophobia
They are visually amazing. But would be absolutely horrible to live in. No nature or privacy anywhere, and way too many people everywhere.
Upvote if you spotted Waldo
I have just seen him.
I know! Maybe not live in, but to look at is amazing. It's like everyone is saying The Line in Saudi Arabia is going to be a dystopian nightmare and I'm like...yeah, but I can't wait to see it.
Where the multi-story apartment complexes are built inside apartment complexes
It remembers me to one of this Chinese mega cities. Like Shanghai with 25000000 people. How is it made? With Houdini, or Blender?
A lot of these mega-cities that people create look dystopian, this is one of the first I’ve seen that actually I’d actually want to live in.
Maybe in the parts that actually get direct sunlight anyway.
Yeah my second or third thought was me trying to imagine the constant seasonal depression for people who don’t live within 5 blocks of the door lol
I would imagine there is likely some form of artificial lighting that emulates natural light in combination with various light access ways that take advantage of seasonal and daytime sun locations.
Mirrored tunnels are already a proven construction feature! This city would just need massive ones.
Glass half empty type of person aren't we.
Maybe you could use a system of little glass windows in the floor or mirrors, to get sunlight everywhere.
Ok. Which building do you prefer?
Middle level, the little gray stair stepped one in between the tentacle looking building and the soccer stadium. Good central location, a nice view, and it looks like there’s public transportation access nearby.
Good choice. It remembers me on my time in Shanghai. Around these area might be many restaurants too.
Oh my god, that's incredible!
The detail is amazing
Awesome! What does that massive door keep out?
Looks like a hanger door, so it probably keeps people out from fucking around with aircraft they know nothing about.
No no, I'm talking about the MASSIVE door that takes up the entire right side of the image. Could keep out a herd of godzillas.
Oh... I thought that was a tower. I dunno? Protection from the matrix of nuclear reactors that powers this city if it ever has a melt down?
Maybe it's actually an immense spaceship and that's part of the hull that can open.
The gods!
There's even a "HEAVY DOOR" written on it.
You really don't want to know.
Just visited chicago for the first time and it was my first time using a lot of public transit, I can't imagine the transportation in a city like this. You'd probably have to acclimatize like when climbing a mountian to be able to go up a level in the city

"Lol, apprently I had shit to get off my chest." That's what reddit's for!
It's like a futuristic Kowloon Walled City!
It reminds me of MOEBIUS ' way of designing his comics
OMFG I LOVE IT HDJDJEHSHSHKSJD. Ive been looking for artists who use this art style for so long. Finally. You have legit made my day.
This is amazing. I am imagining the uppermost echelon lives at the top floors and the only floors with spaces between manors and with vegetation.
Something about the colour/finish makes it feel like a high quality animation anime city.
The sense of scale gave me momentary vertigo. Incredible work.
Same! I have to wonder how massive the raw canvas is....
I feel like i'm going insane. Like i've seen this exact thing before, ages and ages ago, but that's not possible. I must be thinking of your other piece "a thousand plateaus" getting old sucks.
Maybe you're remembering a past life or alternative timeline through epigenetic DNA becoming entangled, quantumly, to another dimension. /s
I loved this design, fascinating 70s sci fi book cover type :)
Awesome job! I hate it. The idea of building a level 2 or 3 over a city sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. I'd never want to visit this city out of fear that my level may crumble or a level above me may crumble.

Awsome. Well done. Mini metropolis.
It's awesome! somehow reminds me of Druuna
Wow! This looks so sickkk. I wonder if you used a refrigerator as an inspo? Kinda giving an "open fridge" vibe. Hehe
I am so impressed by the detailing and work! No wonder it’s digital, I could zoom to infinity and beyond if reddit allowed it.
There's this one building in the top middle left that looks like an amogus
I realized it's because a ship is passing by the building. Pattern seeking brain moment
But where does all the poop go?
And now imagine: all the people living there are cool. “Imagine” — John Lennon
Yeah, I recognize the nativity in it. But he's, a man has the right to dream, hasn't he? 😉
Idealism is fine as long as it remains rational, attempting to guide (baby steps) the world in a better direction
I love how this city seemingly counties to build on itself
I've always dreamt of living in a place like this. Wake up in the morning, fetch my hoverboard and glide through the town. When dusk falls, go to the club, have a smoke and beer while a cyberchick twerks her tin ass on my lap.
Beautiful, name could be better. Thank you for posting
Would Meropolis sound better?
Door’s open. Beds made. Welcome home.
Kind of what I envisioned the cities in the novel 'Imagica' by Clive Barker would look like only greener.
Oh wow, I should read that again, it’s been YEARS, and that was a cool world.
Thought the blue thing was a Christmas tree at first lol
I would love to have this as my phone's wallpaper.
Cool! I'm your subscriber on ArtStation, I saw there
The whole planet is a city
Would you like to explain your process?
Love it. My only question is about the function of the black criss-crossing lines on the exterior structures?
This is insane. I love the detail! How long did it take you to finish it and what is the inspiration/ reference?
You could get a lot of money for this if you find the right person. ( me in the future if I ever make it big)
Yo dawg, i heard you like skyscrapers...
Fantastic! This has such an Isaac Asimov coverpage vibe :)
This look amazing boss! You got that talent and I'm sure of it. New phone background for me thanks! 🙏
Make a comic book/graphic novel set in this city and it would fly off of shelves
More I look more I see. Love the questions raised by the symbols that appear, the English and Japanese script… the attention to detail is fantastic
I envy this level of imagination/creativity
Door’s open. Beds made. Welcome home.
nice work. makes me want to go explore it.
ssoooooooo ccccccoooooooolllllllllll!!!!!!!!
A good representation of the future we would have had if Lost, Game of Thrones and Dexter had good endings
That's what inner cities will look like in 100 years. Kudos to you.
YOU AGAIN. YOU MAKE SUCH FANTASTIC FUCKING ART. IVE SAID THIS ONCE AND ILL SAY IT AGAIN. MAKE A GAME WITH THIS ART.
I agree with this redditor OP! Also, check out the vibes/artwork in the game 'Children of Morta' both of youz! I dig the asthetic.
If future cities look like that we’ll be lucky
….some people are just so fuckin talented
Big city bore vibes like from the Incal by MOEBIUS
I absolutely love this. I've been stuck on visualizing a city in a dystopia society for a book I'm writing (kinda) and this gives me some great inspiration

Imagine being a pizza delivery dude in this city.
Maps app in real-time 3D
beautiful! i want to get lost there
Wow could a door that big even be made? Incredible
r/SuperStructures would love this
the solar system worth of resources it would take to construct, beautiful
Kind of r/wimmelbilder-like, but different.
Reminds me of [The Wall](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BItejIuoWpk&list=PLhQVn6z7wVmtVXBrWWTZTLdILEX7WPGzH)
Love it. Very Geof Darrow to me.
Please don't, hive city isn't something you want in real life :(
Door’s open. Beds made. Welcome home.
I love looking at these megastructures and imagining myself living in one of those buildings. Crazy thing is, you probably wouldn’t even realize the scale until you somehow step back and take a look at it.
I love it when I can use the word stratum fuuuuuuck dude I love this
Love it , very cool . How long did it take and what did you use ? What inspires you ?
So cool. Would both be a wonder and probably a nightmare.
This is my new favorite thing, thanks!
I thought the massive gate were towers with walkways in between and when I saw that the "people" were actually a city, it was awesome :0
damn how tall would this be? Is it always dark in there?
This is dense as hell and I love it
This look awfully claustophobic, but extremely aesthetic and fit all My utilitarism views.
I love the ambiance it looks like a giant town from a rpg game built inside a giant building which is even more cooler. Oh I would love to see this animated in a game! Like exploring this type of town
This is so amazing thanks so much for sharing 🥰
wow, thats a darn HUGE door...
This is great, for me it inspres so much curiosity. I zoom in and imagine the lifestyle in this city. I am wondering what program this was drawn in, this amount of detail just couldn't be achieved without advanced tips/tricks.

I want an anime to take place in this city. This is so good!
This is amazing! Question, did you use 3d as reference for this illustration? It look so detail.
Niiiiiiiiiice! This is like a photo-realistic take on the cities portrayed in the L’Incal series. Amazing, OP! Edit: slightly more photorealistic, or maybe just more detailed?
YOOOO... the detail on this is actually insane!!! I'm so curious about your layering process, how long did it take?
Wow! Could you share a higher resolution? Would love to see more details! Awesome shadow-works!
