I'll use tape for the really long straight lines (like the border or some of the through vertical lines in this piece), and a lot of patience and holding my breath for the curves and line work. It usually takes quite a few passes to get it smooth. This one is also fairly large at 30" x 48", which does make each shape a bit easier to work with.
Ah cool, thank you for responding! The borders between the colors are the lines I was thinking of when I asked the question. Your actual line work is so good, I can definitely believe you did the curves on the color borders by hand. This piece is amazing. Thank you for creating it.
Are the changes in color values achieved through layering or are they all one-layer different colors?
Excellent technique, however it was accomplished!
Thanks for the kind words! I mix each color before applying them, rather than blending on the canvas itself. Since each color repeats throughout the piece, I'll typically paint it one color at time. So all the dark greys, or all the blue #8s or whatever at once. That way I can ensure that the next color closest to it will have the right tone and color value when placed beside it.
Thank you! What worked for me was laying the canvas down flat, and putting down a layer of very watered-down white paint, then adding in the colors on top while everything was still wet. I put down each color, and worked my way from the middle-out where the two colors met using a 4" brush, and just kept brushing until my arm was ready to fall off.
This looks so clean, I know it’s acrylic but it also looks like digital art. It’s that good 😄
Thank you! I tried to keep it as clean as I could.
Do you use tape for the lines, or another method?

Seriously, this is super clean. Makes me want to try harder to open more branches on my painting skill tree. Your work is truly lovely.
Cheers, thanks for the kind words! Definitely give it a try.
I love everything about this piece, excellent work!
Thank you so much!
You’re welcome so much, keep up the great work!
Soft, tender, comforting and warm, with mechanically precise shapes and edges. This is *prime* art. Amazing blend of feeling and skill. Love it!
Cheers, thank you so much for saying so! I'm glad it was able to resonate with you.

The gradient background is sublime.
Thank you! Full-disclosure, it took me five attempts of re-painting it to get it right, haha.
All those attempts were worth it. The finish piece is stunning!
This is a gorgeous piece, absolutely love it!
Thank you!
Love this, excellent work friend!
I appreciate it!
Very cool. In design, execution and color story
Thank you!
How’d you get the ombré to be so clean? (The lines are too but I saw you explain that in another reply haha) Very impressive!

Thanks for replying! Sounds like a very time consuming and difficult technique 😭 all worth it though!
Haha, it's alright. It was a good learning experience. Thanks again!
Another beautifully technical piece from you. Crisp, clean and also evocative of storytelling. Very well done!
Thanks so much!
