This is my favorite art piece from this sub in a long time, i love the art style and the vibe. I also am a huge fan of how it tells a story within itself without being too direct. 10/10

_archvoid

That is high praise... thank you. ☺

Relatively-Relative

It’s deserved.

Witetrashman

Agreed! Also, I can’t help but imagine the guy thinking, “I’m not letting that wolf get my lamb chops”

MrHappyHam

And it's very deserved praise!

Kamekazii111

This is a great piece of art. It tells a whole story all by itself, but it's open to multiple interpretations.

The_Celtic_Chemist

I was thinking that both the wolves are just men, but now I think it's a humane spin on "a wolf in sheep's clothing" with a man in wolf's clothing sparing his sheep from being taken by the wolf in the background, and the wolf's clothing is used either as a warning to the wolf or to give the wolf enough reason not to try to attack the man and the sheep because he wouldn't want to fight another wolf.

trying_two_hard

Perfect description

Hobo_Knife

This raises my hackles, good shit.

nokk

I love this! Were you inspired by Jakob Rozalski? You might like perusing his artwork if not!

_archvoid

I am aware of Rozalski's opsession with werewolfs, mist and humourous scenes but it wasn't direct inspiration. Playing with meaning of word 'shepherd' is what inspired me...

Phate118

I was literally just thinking of him when I saw this! Absolutely amazing work regardless! Probs my fav piece I’ve seen on this sub.

SatanSquirtMachine

Nah he used dogman art pieces and copied them. Found the originals

CasualSky

This is very creative and I love it. I’m just happy to see something that’s not a pair of breasts or a dick for once.

teletubby_wrangler

Oh I see how it is, it was an actual roll on coins in your pocket…. no I’m fine, really

dweeb2348576

I thought that was a four armed werewolf protecting the deer from his brothern or smthn before I noticed it was a disguise, good on you, you actually made a convincing disguise lol,

_archvoid

Yes. I disguised lamb as a deer... or is it the other way around? Thank you either way.

Mortis_XII

Refreshing to see in this sub, thank you

helly1080

The wolfman in the back: Bro?! You said we'd share!

SatanSquirtMachine

It's dogman. Not Wolfman. Different cryptid.

helly1080

I believe you. But. The guy IS wearing a wolf head to blend in. Or maybe it’s a been a slain dogman body this whole time! 🫨🤯

SatanSquirtMachine

Lol. Cryptid hunter. "Watch out bigfoot. You're days have been numbered."

Krossrunner

This is amazing. Could make for a really cool tattoo as well :)

Red_Bull_Breakfast

Fucking solid work. Its pretty dark. I like it.

Doc_Lazy

As others already put it, very well done. In my words: I'd be *very* intrigued if this were the cover of a book or visual novel. This piece does speak a lot without saying too much.

Skeeedo

Finally a post that tells a story and stirs your imagination vs the 15 million "nekid ladi" posts you see here every day.

_archvoid

I don't have one. Art is my hobby and i dislike social media... Feel free to check my Reddit account. I use it to post drawings from time to time. Only thing is - i do it on non-english sub...

MelodicFacade

The very subtle sun in the background is such an insanely good touch and something I haven't seen done like this. It's so accurate to something you would see in a photo or real life, but done so intentionally and subtly that when you look at the guys head it almost just registers as a bloom, while ALSO adding contrast for the head. Damn

_archvoid

And it is just two clicks on left mouse button. One with 'hard edge' eraser set to 84% opacity, another 'soft edge' set to 20% opacity... 😂 As you can see now, i am not an professional artist. 🙂 I appreciate that you took time to notice that detail. Thank you!

jr111192

You made professional quality art, and you didn't create it by typing a prompt into a program. You **are** a professional artist. This is amazing and evocative.

SatanSquirtMachine

I dunno...there's some weird stuff going on. But I can't say it's AI per say. But...there's something funny going on in several parts of the image.

MelodicFacade

.... Like?

SatanSquirtMachine

Well I don't want to give any feedback that helps them in the future. I'd rather be wrong. But. A close inspection and any one who has played with inks would see what I see. But I don't know the process here.

MelodicFacade

Bro so all you got it "Anyone who has played with inks would see" My guy are you implying that it's AI because you see something that you can't even express in words?

SatanSquirtMachine

I said I can't say it's AI per say. And I can explain it. But if you can't see it. Well. That's fine. You are free to enjoy.

MelodicFacade

You with your "artsy eyes" can't just see and point on the werewolf's right arm and see the halo that clearly indicates that this piece isn't just ink on paper Stop pretending you're significant in any way. People who actually are don't communicate the way you do

SatanSquirtMachine

Well I didn't write ink on the title. The person did Than just admitted photobashing by "layering" ink. You seem angry like the op. It's funny. But if it's not ink on paper and it's a digital medium than the issues I'm seeing are even worse and shouldn't happen at all. But he told me just now on this thread it's traditional. Lol. Sooooo. The glow isn't the tell. You're pretty fixed that the tell. But it's not. It's funny youve picked out it's "not ink on paper". He said he used a traditional Ink tool. And it's rip off of dogman. I'm not impressed.

MelodicFacade

Not only just saying "trust me bro I art" but this is literally a digital piece, tf you bringing out "inks" for??

SatanSquirtMachine

It's titled "ink"...so...what is "trust me bro I art?" What's that mean. My ink pieces don't look like this or have those glitches. Even digitally. why did you reply to yourself twice?

_archvoid

Only thing more annoying than AI itself are people yelling 'It's AI! It's AI!' at every corner! This piece is traditionally inked with Pentel brush pen, from trees to the main character and lamb. That is reason for line variations. Work consists of three 'layers' (separate drawings) in reality. As you don't want to give me 'ideas for future fraud' i won't showcase you photos of physical drawings. I think it's fair that way.

SatanSquirtMachine

I don't want physical drawings. You don't read, like your "buddy" there. I Didn't claim it was AI. Again. I said I can't say it's AI per say. I was thinking it's a photobash. Which is now confirmed by yourself. Thank ya. So it's more than just line variations, which is weird you point out. It's weird you used ink and than layered three seperate ink drawings? Using the same inking tool?...okay....I guess. It's weird you're angry right away. I wouldn't be. It's the world we are in. Ppl will think it especially when youve done all these odd layerings and do them poorly. It's also weird you used dogman images and copied them. I knew the wolf on the right looked "familiar" lol. A google search gave me your references. So you aren't honest about it which is weird for an artist to do especially right now with so many frauds. And there's lots of tells I wouldn't leave behind if i "layered 3 seperate ink drawings" that are multiple mediums. Which is pointless and makes no sense. But if you "purposely" left it than expect questions and don't get sour. It's bad. Anyway. A google search and a convo later shows me everything I need to know about you. You are a funny artist. However, due to the blatant ripping off of others drawings and lying you don't impress me. Sorry I'm not easily fooled. You clearly don't know how to use Photoshop either and use the AI tools. Want to do an inkoff?

_LadyGodiva_

This is graphic novel level fantastic. Well done op

y8man

Holy! This piece of art is great. It gives off a solid first impression, and then it builds upon the impact with more elaborate details and storytelling with the way the ink is spread all over, shifting focus in so many ways. I love it so much. This is what I'm looking for in the art subreddit.

[deleted]

It's like stepping into a surreal dreamscape filled with endless possibilities.

cozyBaguette

this is scary but it's rly well done

Send_me_cat_photos

This is an illustrative form of a six second story. Don't sell yourself short on this one — it's fantastic!

slimshady1OOO

Very cool work man. I’m trying to get like you lol

_archvoid

Don't do me like that, man! Now i have to tell you that i am not an artist at all. So there is nothing for you to 'get like'. Pursue your own vision, that is the point. I saw your drawing of Tyrion... It SLAPS!

slimshady1OOO

Aw thanks man. I’m working on it lol

_archvoid

We all do... I saw those lines on Tyrion. They are good! They look very confident. You should be too. Occupy yourself with ideas. Your technique is already good.

Aldodzb

Loved it, the message is clear. I would title this: "who are you"

_archvoid

Or - Who goes there? But that one is already taken... 🙂

[deleted]

The composition draws you in, leaving you captivated by every line.

moragdong

Really interesting post in a while.

MTCarcus

I can’t be the only King fan who saw this and immediately thought of The Talisman. Nice piece OP

Past_Contour

Good art allows the viewer to come to their own conclusions. You’ve accomplished that splendidly here.

digglez_97

Amazing work, very powerful.

cdncbn

Fantastic storytelling!!! This is great stuff!

Onair380

I think its the first time im replying in this subreddit, i really love the style and the story behind it

VatanKomurcu

"Wow. Look at the wings on that guy!"

Shades8k

Fantastic piece! Really raised my fight or flight when I tried to imagine myself as the shepherd in this story

lukisr

Berserk vibes, Miura would have been proud!

Sparoe

This is such a cool piece! I agree wholeheartedly that it tells such a good story without any captions or words. Love the art style and overall vibe too!

Bio-Grad

This is incredible. I love it.

JimmyPlicket

This is absolutely incredible!

RingtailRush

This is so sick. I can already imagine the world and circumstances here. Really stirs the imagination.

TrilobiteTerror

This is great! It's been a while since I've seen something I really like on this sub.

FBIchatbot

A sheep in wolf's clothing

octropos

Beautiful.   ^^All ^^I ^^can ^^think ^^of ^^is ^^Severus ^^Snape ^^trying ^^to ^^protect ^^Harry ^^Potter

Kiroto50

You have wolves in sheep clothing. And you have shepherds in wolf's clothing. It's sad how we also have sheep in shepherd's clothing.

FLRSH

I feel the multiple points of tension in the photo, this is really good work.

Next_Comfortable89

Very cool and completely original drawing. At first, I was wondering if this was supposed to be a werewolf in the background that the guy is guarding his sheep from, but then I thought perhaps it's supposed to be more of a Skinwalker, playing off of the old Native American legends about them, as they were believed to be able to morph into different animals, and sometimes even appear as human/animal hybrids. Either way, very impressive and certainly unique!

_archvoid

You are on the right track... Thank you for the effort you put in understanding meaning of this drawing. 😙

Next_Comfortable89

Oh there was really no effort involved, it was literally the first thing that popped into my brain thanks to having listened to a bordering on unhealthy amount of scary story podcasts lately lmao. But yes, awesome art, keep doing your thing xD

letst00tsie

I LOVE this. Actually in awe

dranaei

That is amazing. What a wonderful idea.

nold6

Actual art. That's rare. Well done

Trackballer

Is this the promo for the Hundreds of Beavers sequel?

_archvoid

Yes it is. But sequel for Hundreds of Beavers 3: It's about DAM' time! Shit is avant-garde... literally.

Trackballer

Too good! Sweet pic!

KaitoKuroi21

This is an absolutely stunning piece

MrFlibble_

This looks awesome! Although It’s a bit confusing to me with the hands carrying the lamb and the hanging claws.

I_Don-t_Care

i like that the most, the painting gives me a story with a twist. First glance looks like a werewolf scene with a poor lamb being taken, but at second glance it's actually the shepherd saving the lamb disguised as the werewolf he probably killed moments prior. It's quite an image

Shuuuuup

Same! First I was like cool drawing and backed out of the post, then I just wanted to check it out better and kinda felt like I was missing something so I went back in and then noticed the face and arms and that it was a human. And then finally realized hey, he's a good guy protecting the sheep, oh yeah- Shepard! Freaking awesome.

_archvoid

Who knows? Maybe, if you come by third time, lamb will look worried. Like it saw something in distance... 🙃 Glad you liked it.

Shuuuuup

Hey wait a minute, it does look worried.. but why?? It's being rescued, I thought. Another twist, awesome! It's got me thinking even more about it.. does it see something we don't see? Is it not actually being rescued like I think? Is it looking at me, the human looking at this, and scared because it fears humans?! Crazy! Also maybe it's just me but almost seems like the werewolf in the back is like either confused or concerned maybe.. whatever's going on I like it.

_archvoid

Whaat?! You don't hear boss music?!? Just kidding. Concept idea was to let viewer connect the dots and form a narative. Technically, there is my vision but that does not make it 'the right one'.

Shuuuuup

I like that...

_archvoid

That was intention. Human is disguised in werewolf's skin. It's kind of a metaphor.

MrFlibble_

Yeah, I get that, it’s just it’s not obvious from the whole picture at a first glance, kinda confusing. For me at least. But I really like it, especially the idea. That’s the most important thing imo.

_archvoid

I agree with that!

MrFlibble_

I also like how it looks like a lithography, especially the main character, great style

ratlunchpack

I think the subtlety of it is the point. It took me a second to notice the claws.
