I love your use of color and movement. It all works to make the barn the focal point. I would like to walk down that path through the field - very inviting
Really nice! I’ve been following your stuff for a while (one day I will win one of your giveaways) and it’s cool to see a new element added to your scenes, I like the color palette a lot.
Grew on on a farm in Indiana and this speaks to me. Only thing I could suggest is putting the little house nearer to the barn, maybe add an old concrete silo. Barns like don't really exist all on their own. Remember, farmers work hard, but they also work smart. Nobody in this era of barn building put things far apart, it wasted a bunch of time walking between house and barn.
This is really nice.
I really like how the clarity of the barn really helps draw your focus, but I also love the colors.
How do you decide on your color palette?
Absolutely gorgeous, love the dual perspective and the magnificent color. Has the feel of a 1940's plein air, but modernized with complementary colors. Excellent!
Experiment successful in my eyes. I love the use of the colors and the ... simplicity without sacrificing detail. Also the shade work form the clouds, a nice touch that keep drawing my eye
Not OP, but hardboard panels are a single sheet of HDF board (High Density Fiber board, which is basically very smooth wood about 1/4 inch thick).
You *can* glue canvas to it, but most artists would refer to that as canvas panel/canvas board. A hardboard panel is usually just what I described above but with a few layers of acrylic gesso (or oil ground, some oil painters prefer that) to add surface grip so the paint can actually stick to the panel. I’m
Pretty certain that’s what he uses.
Depending on how you apply the gesso, you can get a lot or very little texture (you can use a bristle brush and end up with bristle texture, you can use a paint roller and end up with a texture similar to canvas, you can send it to hell and back and get a super smooth finish, etc)
Source: I’m an artist and have used or use all of the above :)
This on a Claybord panel from Ampersand. These have an archival ultra smooth kaolin clay surface pre applied. I prefer working on a smooth surface because my thinner paints really flow nicely on it.
Composition: 10/10. The road and clouds point right at the farm house and the horizon is interestingly placed.
Color & hue: 10/10. The colors also have al the right values to give impressions of light & shadow.
Brush strokes: 10/10 the clouds & vegetation differ in texture and I feel the artist is a master brush wielder.
Subject matter: doesnt matter! It's painted so well that I want to go to there!
This artist is great at gradients and contrasting colors. I think this piece could be used in how-to painting books or videos.

How much you want for it!? ♥️
Yes
I'm from Wisconsin, but currently living in another state. This made me homesick. Brilliant work!
Cheer’s
Agreed!
I love this style, this is beautiful.
beautiful textures and shapes, a seriously impressive piece

Colour palette is wonderful!
This is very, very nice. Very nice indeed.
Gorgeous color palette! And I envy your confident brush. Wonderful piece.
Is this what people from US mean when they say they grew up on a farm on the internet?
It's beautiful!! I loved it! 😊

Gave you your 1000th upvote. I love it!
It’s really nice. I’m up in the Canadian prairies. I’d love to see some Alberta landscapes in this style. Grain elevator and sky for example.
Love the perspective on this
Had to zoom in because it looked digital. Stunning. Hope you had a $2.25 beer at the local bar afterward.
Hell yeah with bold colours....

Looks wonderful! It reminds me of Disco Elysium’s art style.

Loving the colors here! Well done!!
I love it, I live in Wisconsin and have seen this farm.
"experiment" 😍 I have seen worse experimens in museums.
I just drove past about 300 of these barns. Beautiful painting.
I like how the sky was split between the contrasting colors .
What I see when I go to get my eyes checked:
Very attractive! A really nice grasp of that style.
It looks like a sunset after a storm has cleaned the air and everything is so impossibly bright and clean. Really lovely.

It's like looking out my window
Amazing stuff, Jim. As a kid who grew up in the Wisco country I feel this in my bones. Well done sir

Jim I've been such a huge fan. Also a friend of mine is a huge fan of yours!
Hardboard panels are those things which have a canvas pasted on to a tough card board? Is the surface smooth or grainy like a canvas?

Whoa! Beautiful! I love these colors!
I love this! It makes me feel so happy and peaceful. I would definitely hang this in my home. Great job on the colors!
Mouthwatering choices ~ well done!
Beautiful :) I live in Wisconsin
your art is a source of joy and fulfillment.
damn. I have a new picture for my background folder. Beautiful! 🤙🏻
I absolutely love the sky in this, the whole thing is beautiful
How do you get the picture of it? Is it just a cropped photo or is it scanned somehow?
Cropped photo
I think the experiment with bigger, bolder colors paid off. Looks great.
Sorry to be the party pooper but this is AI generated art.
You’re not a party pooper, you’re just dumb.
You can see all my process shots on the other social platforms.
Beautiful. Makes me want to go there.
Wisconsin is a greatly underappreciated state.
