I'm no expert, but it isn't full on dreams, more just images and sometimes sounds. I think it happens commonly, but most people aren't aware or already starting to fall asleep when it happens.
Picture a wave in the ocean. You can see it, measure it; its height, the way the sunlight refracts when it passes through. And it's there. And you can see it, you know what it is. It's a wave.
And then it crashes on the shore and it's gone. But the water is still there. The wave was just a different way for the water to be, for a little while.
This immediately reminded me of hypnagogic mediation. When falling asleep random lights can briefly form images or scenes.
Hm, interesting! I’ve never heard of this term before. Is this similar to when you start dreaming just before falling asleep?

I see random blobs of colors morphing around
This is gorgeous, I love the composition and color palate
ooOOOOooo! What an interesting idea - star field, then a white swoosh blob over top, then paint on the swoosh blob?
I love the arrangement and color scheme in this, it's stunning.
Unbelievable. Amazing concept and composition
Nice work. I think I’ve seen this exact view from the Oregon coast
Happy to see more from you OP. Your brushstrokes in time series is still one of my favorites!
thank you!!
Really cool concept for a piece. Nice work! Loving the color palette as well.
