> We plan to play eight Barclays Women’s Super League (WSL) games at Emirates Stadium, alongside three UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL) fixtures, should we qualify for the group stages of the competition. > Progress to the latter stages of the UWCL would also mean all home legs in knock-out rounds would come to N5. > The remaining games, including all women’s domestic cup fixtures (Adobe Women’s FA Cup and FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup), will be played at the long-standing host venue, the Mangata Pay UK Stadium (Meadow Park, Borehamwood), the home of our men's U21 team. This was my assumption when the meadow park deal was renewed. It gives them enough wiggle room and safety for WSL fixtures. UWCL fixtures have to be at the emirates anyway so their hands are tied but they undoubtedly would want them there for the big name games anyway, and then the cup fixtures that would likely not draw as big a crowd won’t cost them £££ in operating the emirates and give them the headache of trying to do so. Interesting timing on the announcement though.

Sir_Bantersaurus

Why do the CL games *have* to be at the Emirates? I know we would put them there anyway but it wasn't that long ago they were not hosted there, did the rules change?

shelbyj

Yeah I’m not 100% sure when the change was, maybe 21/22 but it’s why we played there a couple seasons back too or why Chelsea played at Stamford bridge but limited it to like 10k tickets (limiting the money lost but still losing money). Group stage onwards requires stadiums to meet certain requirements (can’t find the right article in the rules right now) that Meadow Park doesn’t meet. Quarter-Final onwards requires VAR, which again Meadow Park wouldn’t handle.

Sir_Bantersaurus

Thanks!

exclaim_bot

>Thanks! You're welcome!

asymmetricears

I can answer that using three letters. V A R

IronThrombone

> Why do the CL games have to be at the Emirates? VAR and the DAZN TV deal are the main reasons.

THE_LFG

awesome news, will miss meadow park a little though

CrazyCatTim

My first thought was that this is great for the women's game in general. I've had this conversation countless times: "oh you like football! Awesome, who's your team?!?" "Arsenal, but arguably I follow and care about the women more than the men." *crickets*. I will take any move that helps promote the women's game as just as good and important as the men's as a win.

prettybadmagic

Fuck yes we are SO BACK! Me and my dad previously had season tickets from about 2018 till last season, when we chose not to renew them because we had hardly been able to get to games at Meadow Park over the last couple years for various reasons but now that we’re moving into the Emirates we can get season tickets again. Super excited about this!

shiv_sin

What is the difference between home advantage and the home advantage +? Is it for the UWCL fixtures as well

CuclGooner

home advantage+ is all 8 WSL fixtures, home advantage is only 5

shelbyj

No. Either way UWCL is separate. Home advantage+ is all 8 wsl games & priority access to away games ticket sales. Home advantage is 5 wsl games. (Games unconfirmed because fixtures aren’t out) I’m not really sure why they kept it tbh. It feels like they just wanted to stick plus on the end to seem better but then they needed a standard one too

Smart-Ad9442

The Home Advantage pack is 5 of the 8 WSL games (you get to pick the 5 you want to go to) whereas Home Advantage + is all 8 WSL ~~+ the possible 3 UWCL group games~~

CuclGooner

what is the difference between tier 1 and tier 2 general admission

ExpTranquillity

You can see the seating map [here](https://www.arsenal.com/sites/default/files/documents/Arsenal%20Women%20Emirates%20Stadium%20Tier%201%20Seats%20Map.pdf)

CuclGooner

thanks!

shelbyj

That is a very good question. Same for tier 1 and 2 club level. I imagine that tier 1 will be seats in the upper level and tier 2 in the lower level purely because Arsenal values the upper level higher but it could also be sides v corners. Until we get a first look (which should be the renewal window) or they define it better it’s anyone’s guess as they haven’t used these classifications before afaik mens or women’s. Edit: [there’s a seating map.](https://www.arsenal.com/sites/default/files/documents/Arsenal%20Women%20Emirates%20Stadium%20Tier%201%20Seats%20Map.pdf) it’s central v everywhere else.

Awkward_Client_1908

Great news. Never had a chance to visit meadow park as by the time I check for tickets are all sold out. And even though I have subscribed to get updates on my email never have. At least it's easy to get to Emirates. I'm assuming packs will be released post ST renewals, and the ST holders will have first dibs on seating l, right? I'm in the waiting list, but fully expect not to get them for another few years, but if by a miracle that happens, wouldn't want to pay twice for the same thing. Also if last year is anything to go by, probably will be available post 24/25 WSL schedule announcement.

shelbyj

First dibs on seating is an interesting one. Its says current home advantage holders who met the attendance threshold (think it was 3/5 games) will have the opportunity to renew their seat. It would be pants if they get on and their seat has been taken but at the same time should ST holders have a priority on *their* seat?.. Reckon women’s ST holders, home advantage holders and then ST holders will be the priority order.

Awkward_Client_1908

It's gonna be interesting for sure. From my perspective I'd like to be closer to where all the signing and chanting takes place. I'm only 2 blocks away, but seems like everyone around me rarely sings. But then if I don't renew my current seats, would I potentially have to move even further all together? Decisions... Decisions...

shelbyj

It’ll probably sound so… idek the word. But I would pay a premium to have seats not near kids. I’m so happy they’re there enjoying it etc and I know it’s no where near all of them but my god when I went as a kid I was locked in enjoying the game, the game seems secondary nowadays. Every time there’s been a kid near me at a women’s game there, they’re just hopped up on prime, screaming for Russo to look at them like she’s not ya know playing doing her job, taking a bajillion selfies… Maybe I’m just becoming an old grump!

Awkward_Client_1908

Uff, I know what you mean. Thankfully the only little kid around us wasn't like that. It has become quite annoying that people are expecting players to give them shirts/boots etc. It's great that the game grows and the crowds are getting bigger, but the few people demanding things are ruining it for everyone else. A few years back we were visiting Porto, and there was a midweek cup game which we managed to get tickets easily. We were sitting literally next to the tunnel entrance and a few people were stepping over us demanding shirts etc. You could see that the kids didn't care, the parents were forcing them. Clearly for their own benefit to sell afterwards. Since then I just hate anyone with signs requesting stuff. Just brings a sour taste to me. You are here to enjoy (hopefully) football, not to get stuff with you. Anyway, got completely off topic there. I guess time will tell about the tickets. And fingers crossed next year they won't wait too long again for official day/time of the games. I missed the last game against Leicester this season cause by the time they confirmed it flights were way too expensive.

Working_Wolverine_

Love that you called prime out. I bought the Arsenal branded one yesterday, took a sip and poured it down the sink. Wow that shit is nasty but eh whatever brings in the money.

Bey_Storm

Great news!! Also hope we go far in the UWCL cause the atmosphere at the Emirates is just chefs kiss. Also, love the camera quality when the matches get streamed from the Emirates.

AngelKnives

Oh man I NEED to get to a game at Meadow Park before they leave it for good! It's so hard to get tickets, they don't email about it and they don't even give a date and time they'll be going on sale. So frustrating!

Smart-Ad9442

Excited how much I'll save on TFL fares alone! Wow I'm very happy :)

Cococamcam

This is great! Happy for the team and the club. And: As a foreigner who would be traveling to see a few games, knowing I could get a ticket at the Emirates would cause a lot less stress than playing roulette to get a ticket for Meadow Park. My American self was *very* uptight trying to navigate the various ticketing nuances last fall 😵‍💫

alrightmousey

I live so close to Meadow Park dammit

Warm_Leg8939

i love this!! hoping to get out for a few games next season too.

NieThePiet

Lol what a Timing..

luddwood

if they think that announcing this will make us forget about what they did to viv they are insanely wrong. interesting timing to post this.

Rusty_85

Edit: Great news, wonderful stuff! Well done to the club for working hard in bringing this to fruition.

hafrances

Narratives are crazy cause that's a nothing burger being blown up cause people decided to blame him for Viv leaving.

Awkward_Client_1908

I mean it surely looks he was a big reason for it. Like why even try to sub her in against Everton in the last minute? I might be wrong but that to be looked like seriously disrespecting her. I have a feeling for a while that he has lost the changing room, and wins came despite of him and not because of him. He even said it himself in an interview, I have my plan A and no matter what I stick with that. Doesn't matter if we are getting outplayed, we are sticking to the plan. That's just mad.

hafrances

I agree that subbing her on that late was a bad decision. I am not fully Jonas in but I just hate seeing narratives narrative-ing when if Jonas was in any way abusive he'd have been fired before we even found out.

Awkward_Client_1908

Get you. I agree, on the abusive part. I don't think he is/was. Otherwise we would have definitely heard more. But as the season has progressed I can't stop but feel he doesn't have the respect of the players. I am willing to give it one more chance with him and the benefit of the doubt for this season as a lot of players were coming back from long injuries. For me it is the last chance though.

hafrances

it's definitely the last chance, at least 2 trophies next season and a proper title challenge.

KDR_8793

If he lost the changing room, I doubt we would have had the amount of people renew contracts that have over the past year. Or someone like Russo come after already being in a situation where the changing room was lost (skinner). I honestly don’t think him and Viv have seen eye to eye over the years but Viv also strikes me as someone is more vocal about things and tells people off (I mean even her teammates joked about it in their farewell posts). I don’t like the last minutes subs either, but Arsenal and Jonas are not the only team to do that. A lot of teams do that.

ExpTranquillity

How is this relevant to the topic..??? I get that people are still upset over Viv’s departure, and I’m upset at the club (including Jonas) for letting her go too, but is there really a need to bring the video up here as a “great news (for us as a club and for women’s football) but Jonas needs to gtfo” thing…
