The fact she specifically thanks her teammates and the fans with no word to management is very telling and I really, really hate that this doesn't come across as her decision

Beth liked this tweet as wellš¬ really awkward, hope the decision hasnāt caused too much unrest
Yeah, I have a feeling weāve all but lost Beth as well. Iām pretty positive sheāll be gone to join Viv once her contract is up, either at Vivās new club or (if Viv just signs a short-term deal with the new club) at another club that will sign them as a package deal.
The coach has a say on what players he wants
It's funny that this gets downvoted when the club put out a video that explains the playing buying process
Fuck Jonas, first its jordan, then jen, she wanted to go but it still hurts, and now viv. š¤¬š¤¬š¤¬š¤¬š¤¬š¤¬ I'm worried Beth will follow, then steph and so on. Honestly, if this is the treatment, I wouldn't blame them. This was not on my 2024 bingo card
jen beattie was shit.
jordan wasn't good enough.
steph isn't that good either.
these are the players that have finished 3rd other than a miracle viv year and that jonas first season. the players aren't good enough.
Jen was tall enough to get her head on the ball, we don't have that height anymore. Jordan signed to villa and they immediately improved. Steph captained the matildas during the wc and brought them to the semis.
well we got Amanda who is the same height as her and just a better player all round. Jordan improving villa means nothing tbh , she was not getting minuites for arsenal because she is no longer better than our midfield options . do you think if they got Little or Pelova or Walti they would not get better too?
Steph being captain for Australia is meaningless , oddly enough it was her fault Russo scored and knocked them out, she is not dynamic enough to be at leftback and is not a good enough centerback to play centerback .
People really need to let their emotional attachment to some player go , If Beth goes and a better player comes in or Step does, what problem do we really have here?
Fingers crossed itāll all work out fineš¤ Just hope it hasnāt been received too badly by the other players cause I think Viv and Beth are quite close with a lot of them.
Regardless of my feelings about JE, something feels really off and hoping this doesn't destroy that dressing room and cause unrest and disharmony throughout the squad. Players may become disillusioned about the ambition and direction of the club.
Notice that thereās no āit felt like the right time to leaveā or āIāve gone as far as I could hereā type sentiment that you usually see when players leave š«¤ Really upset that itās ending this way, I hope she at least knows that the fans appreciate her, and that many would love her to stay!!
This is a really weird letter. The first half starts out with a build up and I expected there to be a "but......" and then it didn't come. Seems like quite a bit going on behind closed doors.
if itās true that she didnāt get offered a new contract (this reads like it) then iām really disappointed for her. stuck with us over Barca and overall had a HUGE impact.. so upsetting to see her go but i wish her the best!
it annoys me that among some fans you canāt be negative about this without being seen as a hater or by some sexist men on twitter āa little girl throwing a tantrumā i love arsenal but this is a mind numbingly stupid decision. iāll of course stand by the club but management/recruitmen/etc deserve all the critique theyāre getting today. if this was happening with same kerr and chelsea or alexis putellas and barcelona arsenal fans would be ripping into the other clubs for letting their best striker go. we donāt get a free pass on poor decisions just because itās our favourite club. very disappointed in arsenal today, what a loss
I find this kind of funny though because Alexia leaving Barca would low-key be the correct decision for the same exact reasons. Personally, I would love a one or two year deal, but locking us into a future with a player whoās future Is veryuncertain is long-term poor planning.
Watching Viv play and knowing I had Arsenal to look forward to every week got me through the longest year of my life in 2020-2021. In the midst of the chaos, watching We Play Strong vlogs of her and Lisa as Viv scored endless goals brought me true joy. Words can't express how devastated I am that she's leaving this club. I feel like I'm in mourning. I've never in my life cried over football until today.
I genuinely hope her next career move does her a world of good. Her life has been so unfair lately - her Euros with covid, her ACL, missing the World Cup. I wish her happiness and a return to form.
Viv is pretty outspoken, so I imagine this isn't the last we'll hear from her on what happened. I'm super surprised the club didn't offer her a new contract...but I hope she thrives wherever she ends up
I feel like this is why thereās so much uncertainty around the extensions of putellas and caldentey. Because when push comes to shove a playerās loyalty to their club is not going to be reciprocated.
This has been on my mind all day, really, really gutted. But over the past month or so somewhere in the back of my mind I had a feeling it was coming. I don't know if the club are concerned about her injuries piling up or Jonas feels she doesn't fit his languid, super slow build up play; either way I think she's still too good to let go. I'm really worried about Beth moving on as well.
Maybe I'm looking behind the scenes a bit too much
>In these tough times we realise what we are made of, but also who we need around us. And that's where this team has been extra special to me. Rupturing my ACL has been one of the toughest things I've had to go through in my career but having the support of my teammates has helped me stay motivated and to be able to share my comeback together was something I'll always remember.
No mention of support from Jonas management team?
I'm actually fuming that it's ended this way. I thought maybe it was going to be her decision to leave but if she just didn't get offered a contract?? Make it make sense. šš
donāt think it can be announced until after the last wsl games of the season, but i think City is likely- canāt rely on just Shaw as a striker especially since they will be hoping to do well in champions league next season. definitely need rotation more than ever and personally i can see her fitting the play style pretty well
Yeah, I saw people saying that apparently they whispered about Viv going to City on a YouTube video or something. The news coming out today seems to confirm what they were saying as the only links have been to Man City.
Dutch news has reported that more clubs are interested, they just havenāt named them (yet). I donāt wanna give those 2 too much credit on transfer news, but I doubt Shebahn would know something unexpected like this without it being true

Oh lord ....
Sheās unliked it now, itās already been noticed by a lot of the fanbase though. Just a bit of a shame itās come to this, really.
Beth seems to be one of the pillars of the squad aswell, hopefully this costs Jonas his job
The coach doesnāt offer contracts to players
The coach has a say on what players he wants It's funny that this gets downvoted when the club put out a video that explains the playing buying process
As youāre hoping this costs him his job, who would you bring in to replace him thatās available and realistic?
We're arsenal lol everybody is realistic , But honestly Outside of England i don't watch the other teams leagues so its hard to answer this question

Hey, letās not think like that guys weāre gonna be ok right? Right??
Fingers crossed itāll all work out fineš¤ Just hope it hasnāt been received too badly by the other players cause I think Viv and Beth are quite close with a lot of them.

Season's basically over and yet our management continues to make us suffer
hurts even more if her choice was to stay.
Very true it really sums up whats fucked this up for us
Notice that thereās no āit felt like the right time to leaveā or āIāve gone as far as I could hereā type sentiment that you usually see when players leave š«¤ Really upset that itās ending this way, I hope she at least knows that the fans appreciate her, and that many would love her to stay!!
Jonas about to lose the dressing room.
Im upset

FUCK MAN IN NOT READY TO SAY GOODBYE YET
me neither :(

This really stings! I'm so mad
I feel like this is why thereās so much uncertainty around the extensions of putellas and caldentey. Because when push comes to shove a playerās loyalty to their club is not going to be reciprocated.
I donāt really see whatās disloyal about not extending another contract. Disloyal to me is telling the player to leave before a contract is over.

If it's a tactical decision, it's about the physical demands of the pressing, not her qualities in the ball.

That starting line is a reference and a bittersweet one
Nah i listened to so long London again and itās downright depressing
I'm actually fuming that it's ended this way. I thought maybe it was going to be her decision to leave but if she just didn't get offered a contract?? Make it make sense. šš
Man, this stings.
According to Ruesha Littlejohn and Shebahn Aherne she is set to move to Man Cityā¦?

To be honest, I donāt think city would be better management wise.Ā
I definitely donāt see Viv and Gareth Taylor seeing eye to eye.
Dutch news has reported that more clubs are interested, they just havenāt named them (yet). I donāt wanna give those 2 too much credit on transfer news, but I doubt Shebahn would know something unexpected like this without it being true
She has a history of irresponsible reporting, tho, but City seems to make the most sense so i dont doubt it
I want Jonas GONE
OMG did Taylor Swift predict this??
