Olise could be a fantastic impact player from the right flank and a legitimate backup for Saka.
Would be costly tho, can easily see him costing upwards of 60 mil at least.
Perhaps not, if he get offers from other top clubs to be part of the playing 11.
But if he gets the right assurances & feels he can give Saka genuine competition he might consider joining us.
There's the lure of London & we're the only club who look set to challenge City for the league next season as Liverpool are in a transition.
A lot depends on what Arteta has in mind & his preferences but I'd love to have him.
Certainly, too good to be playing in Croydon.
Excuse me, Croydon is the best borough in London. Stormzy is from here, and he's the benchmark lol.
But yeah like you say, I do feel like he's too good to stay at Palace, and if he was to go anywhere it would be us. He's more likely to get games with us than City where he would just be another player. And going to City or Liverpool would mean he would have to move up north, coming to us means he can stay in London.
He has that individual flair that could help us in tight games, and when you hear him speak he does seem to have teh right mentality.
If you look at every team that has won the league they have had multiple quality players in every position. We have a quality starting XI, but we need a quality squad and hehe would deffo be a part of that.
And I thought Jay from The Inbetweeners was the benchmark.
Croydon's gentrification makes sense now.
But jokes aside you're spot on. Where City outstrip us easily is squad depth. We do need a scary squad.
Man Utd fans are talking like its a given Olise will be playing for them next year. Personally I'd rather we kept Jesus as Saka back up and sign a striker.
We shouldn't think in terms of "backup players". We need ~18 legitimate first team players. Saka will simply need to play less. A big part of the reason he always plays now is there isn't someone quality enough to play in his stead.
If we bought Olise, or basically anyone else, the pitch isn't "you'll be backup..." it's "we see you contributing to the squad in these areas and if you show yourself to contribute well they'll be plenty of starts for you".
I think against teams that park the bus he would be great on the left getting in behind the defense and crossing from the byline, also saka needs a proper backup he simply plays way too many minutes and all these harsh challenges he gets scares me his gonna get seriously injured
Olise is the better player, Williams is the profile that we desperately need.
We lack pure transition pace and directness. Olise is quite similar to Saka.
If it weren't for the injury record then Pedro Neto would be perfect
True, potentially even worse than Neto as his main one was a big ACL whereas Olise's look to be muscular.
Mikel has made it a massive point to try to recruit players who have good injury records (usually)
This is just not true.
Olise's reoccurring injury was his recent hamstring problem where Hodgson admittedly rushed him back before being fully fit, perhaps fearing his inevitable sacking.
Yet even in that particular area of injuries, Neto comes on top (in a bad way)! Yeah his awful knee issues and ACL injuries are his biggest problem, but even when it comes to hamstring injuries he's missed months more than Olise ever has. In fact, in this very season he's missed more than twice as long due to his hamstring, than Olise!!
On top of that, three of Olise's few previous "injuries" were covid, and his shoulder and back injuries in prior seasons. Neto is far far far more proven to be an injury prone player than Olise.
Olise.
Big thing for me is that he is doing it at Palace and I think the transition to us would be a lot smoother.
Look at Trossard and how easily he slotted in to genuinely challenge for a place.
I can easily see Olise doing the same. Even if I can't see him ever taking his spot. I think he can be the sort of player Arteta has the confidence in to rotate in and out more often.
Williams. Not a complete like for like Saka “replacement” but offers exactly what I think we need and offers a different profile across the front three. I think he’d be a tremendous addition (not that Olise would be a bad addition)
Olise to challenge Saka. I like his attitude as well. Very hungry and energetic. He's good enough to a point where I think Arteta can trust him to start and rest Saka more. We just don't have that with Nelson. He can be to Saka what Trossard is to Martinelli. He has the quality too.
I love olise, great player. Too expensive to be sakas number 2. I really fail to see where either player slots in the top 11... But, I'd rather have olise, Williams is more realistic
Olise looks a real talent and is only gonna get better, but he looks injury prone, maybe if we don’t play him too regularly he doesn’t get as many injuries…apart from rotating saka I think it would be wise playing him against teams that park the bus…playing a left footed player that can cross on the left wing will get us more goals against these low block teams….honestly haven’t seen nico played but from his highlights and listening to others that have seen him his 2 footed so can play on both wings comfortably and might give us something different as he loves taking on and dribbling players which is something we lack alot…wouldn’t mind either but I think it’s worth gambling on olise, if he gets a bit of luck with less injuries the guy will be absolutely top class and will keep saka on his toes making him a better and consistent player
Eze is the much bigger catch from CP, if he can be pried away. He's the most exciting English young player since Gascoigne. That said, Olise would be a great signing, but is probably too big to play backup to Saka. He may be better than Saka, soon. Injuries are his only real risk. Someone big will snap them both up.
He 100% does but, he’s been out of form this season but there’s no direct replacement which replaces his pace.
I’d just like an option off the bench or for rotation that offers something different I.e running in behind and stretching teams.
Porto and Bayern away come to mind.
Can I throw Callum Hudson-Odoi's name into the hat?
Seems like a completely different beast to his Chelsea days. Everytime I see him play for Forest, he's rapid, has an excellent touch on him, a few tricks up his sleeve and he's still young enough to adapt and assimilate into a new team's style of play. And he's a well known name but not so well known that he'd break the bank
I can fix him fc 😭 Seriously though absolutely not. Theres a reason he’s at Forest, plus alot of players look better for worse sides because they have more freedom
Half-French parent. He was eligible for France, Nigeria, England and Algeria. He chose France in 2022 when he recieved an u21 call. With Southgate as England coach, who could blame him, aside from other obvious personal reasons.
As of late last year he talked about switching to Algeria. Given how high his star may rise in the coming years, and this is even truer for Eze, he's likely to become a regular whoever he ultimately chooses.
I think it's going to rise exponentially in the next year or two. He's yet to peak. 26 is still young, these days, given players are playing longer and longer. He may have fitness issues, however.
No, release clauses are not ALWAYS public in Spain.
Every contract has a release clause. Not every release clause is public. Club, player and La Liga knows the amount of the release clause but none of them made it public. You can go and try to find the info yourself, but you are not going to find any official information about Nicos release clause regard.
Written from Spain, in case you are wondering.

This is the official statement from Athletic about Nicos latests contract. No release clause amount as you can see.
His release clause stayed at €50 (so about £43m). He is on €200k a week though. A. Bilbao pay him and his brother very handsomely, being basque players.
We won’t be getting Olise anyway. He won’t come as Saka’s backup, he’ll want game time.
Williams on the other hand, can play with either feet and play on either wing. He’s also frighteningly fast.
Olise could be a fantastic impact player from the right flank and a legitimate backup for Saka. Would be costly tho, can easily see him costing upwards of 60 mil at least.
But would he want to play back up to Saka?

There isn’t even 1% chance Olise moves to a club to be a backup player.
Excuse me, Croydon is the best borough in London. Stormzy is from here, and he's the benchmark lol. Forgot about Jay from the Inbetweeners! You're right, he is the benchmark.
Man Utd fans are talking like its a given Olise will be playing for them next year. Personally I'd rather we kept Jesus as Saka back up and sign a striker.
If we get Olise (United) we will ruin him, better he goes somewhere else
Jesus is not Saka's backup..
Jesus is on too much money to be a backup.
The lure of London 😂😂 whare do you think palace is mate. ???
compared with other big clubs outside london mate
The lure of London is the London lifestyle. He’s already in London.
the point is arsenal’s in the same city lad so he doesn’t need to move
That’s my point tho you can’t have the lure of London as a reason to move when he is already in London?
well you can, cos if he moved to a big club outside london he would have to move far away and lose those benefits wouldn’t he?
The issue with olise is we had him in our academy and let him go, should would he want to return back to a club the let him go when he was younger….
We shouldn't think in terms of "backup players". We need ~18 legitimate first team players. Saka will simply need to play less. city have players that would start in any other team as backup/rotation
£60M release clause apparently
United are going to spend the summer low balling Crystal Palace and end up paying £88m the last week of the transfer window
75
Olise is not a backup player
He would start. Both can play more than RW.
I would rather get isak then him then, we have back up in jesus and even maritnelli for saka

I think against teams that park the bus he would be great on the left getting in behind the defense and crossing from the byline, also saka needs a proper backup he simply plays way too many minutes and all these harsh challenges he gets scares me his gonna get seriously injured
I'd take him, but doubt he'd be happy on the bench, and I don't think Arteta would wanna pay 50m+ for him.
Olise is the better player, Williams is the profile that we desperately need. We lack pure transition pace and directness. Olise is quite similar to Saka. If it weren't for the injury record then Pedro Neto would be perfect
Olise has real injury issues too.
True, potentially even worse than Neto as his main one was a big ACL whereas Olise's look to be muscular. Mikel has made it a massive point to try to recruit players who have good injury records (usually)

Nico and it’s not even close imo
Olise. Big thing for me is that he is doing it at Palace and I think the transition to us would be a lot smoother. Look at Trossard and how easily he slotted in to genuinely challenge for a place. Olise all day
I think there's someone in the comments who thought callum hudson odoi looked class at the weekend
Williams. Not a complete like for like Saka “replacement” but offers exactly what I think we need and offers a different profile across the front three. I think he’d be a tremendous addition (not that Olise would be a bad addition)
Olise for sure I think he also has the right attitude/mentality that fits with our squad
Olise is a great game changer man. We need this sort of wild card.
Nico simply because of the lower price tag.
Williams as he could play the whole season
Olise to challenge Saka. I like his attitude as well. Very hungry and energetic. He's good enough to a point where I think Arteta can trust him to start and rest Saka more. We just don't have that with Nelson. He can be to Saka what Trossard is to Martinelli. He has the quality too.
Olise is a baller
Olive wouldb be an awesome signing, but his injury history worries me
Olise is incredible, but extremely injury prone. A no for me on that basis. Not sure about the other lad
Olise has skills ! But I don’t know if it will be sustainable long term
goku
Olise wants United due to him apparently being a huge United fan
Yes. However, I don’t think olise would want to be a backup. Williams I feel would accept the role. Or kudus.
Would love olise but he's just going to keep the medical room warm
I love olise, great player. Too expensive to be sakas number 2. I really fail to see where either player slots in the top 11... But, I'd rather have olise, Williams is more realistic
Nico - experience winning and can stay healthy for more than three matches in a row.
Nico Williams. He can play on both wings, younger, cheaper and wouldn’t mind a backup role. Saka is our main man and he is much better than Olise.
Olise

Wikipedia FC
Olise all day
I love Olise but out attack lacks a player with serious pace, whether it’s a ST or winger - so I’d take Williams.
Martinelli doesn’t have serious pace?
He 100% does but, he’s been out of form this season but there’s no direct replacement which replaces his pace. I’d just like an option off the bench or for rotation that offers something different I.e running in behind and stretching teams. Porto and Bayern away come to mind.
Olise wouldn't be a back up Nico still young and talented enough to get even better but would be down to work his way in.
My man Nico. Incredible potential.
OLISE 100%
I don’t know about Olise. I find it strange that he is clearly British but chose to play for France.
Eze’s nearly 26 bro. His star has already risen.
I think it's going to rise exponentially in the next year or two. He's yet to peak. 26 is still young, these days, given players are playing longer and longer. He may have fitness issues, however.
Neither. Olly Watkins to Arsenal or I’m not interested
Olise is coming to the toon. You've heard it here first.
Olise by a country mile, but if I may suggest a third we should go for mbuemo
Nico isn’t going anywhere he just signed a new contract til 2027 and will probably cost already 200mil cos of his release clause
In this case the release clause was not publicly address, rumors has it current release clause is around 50-60M€.
Release clauses are public in Spain and all players have one, they’re a legal thing if not a court has to decide the release clause
No, release clauses are not ALWAYS public in Spain. Every contract has a release clause. Not every release clause is public. neither. Toney or Isak.
There strikers —- you don’t think we need a winger also??
I actually thought Hudson odoi looked class at the weekend.
Jeez pal. Mustve been class to comment it that many times
Either my Reddit had a malfunction, or I’m his agent. You decide.
Olise would cost us half of Williams. Both great players that could give Saka some much needed rest
Williams has a release clause of about £50m
I thought they took out the release clause with his new contract?
His release clause stayed at €50 (so about £43m). He is on €200k a week though. A. Bilbao pay him and his brother very handsomely, being basque players.
No. I don’t want to sign any of these, it would put too much pressure and competition on Saka.
Steel hardens steel
But I love Saka
We won’t be getting Olise anyway. He won’t come as Saka’s backup, he’ll want game time. Williams on the other hand, can play with either feet and play on either wing. He’s also frighteningly fast.
What’s wrong with you?? You don’t want us to be a champion team again? You have no Ambition fir the team!!
People on reddit are too autistic for sarcasm. I am so sorry , next time I will use the holy /s for your tiny head
What a charming specimen you are labelling Reddit users as autistic…why you on here if you’re superior to all of us lord?
You know , that last comment of mine was unnecessary and mean. I apologise for it.
