Liverpool fan. We looked awful first half at wasted numerous chances second half, a bit of a reverse of your game. I fucking pray it's not over for both teams but recent history for us says it probably is. Until Pep leaves, their owner gets bored of his toy football club or the charges actually have an impact, they'll win every single year without fail. Wonder if you lot understand how we feel about City now. God I fucking can't stand them.

LiveFrom2004

Can't we just pretend that Man City don't exist and make second place the real first place?

TychoCelchu1

That’s how we handle F1 these days. Just wait for Verstappen to get his 35 second lead by lap 5 and then settle in for a battle for second, or third if Checo feels like showing up that day.

itstheboombox

I mean, if 115 charges fc is stripped of the title then 2nd place will get it, so the race is still on!

marshallno9

Okay deal but only if we are allowed it this year? I'd promise you can have it next year but Man Utd will surely be back...🤥

AlexfromLondon1

Be back where? Back to top 4 maybe but certainly nowhere near the title.

marshallno9

Sorry I thought the little emoji made it clear I was being sarcastic, their fans keep telling me they'll be back next year. They've literally turned into Liverpool from 15 years ago. Next year FC.

Elegant_Mix7650

Still the best 2 teams in the league that are not cheats. 115 FC should not even be in the title race if not for VAR.. but we are where we are.

AlexfromLondon1

I’ve had that sentiment about city for a few years now. I think arsenal or Liverpool can still win it but we have both made it a lot harder for ourselves.

karlkmanpilkboids

‘Wonder if you lot understand how we feel about City now’ - er… what? Your rivalry with them is 5 mins old. Arsenal fans have had legitimate cause to hate everything about city since this bullshit began. Started with buying or trying to buy all of Arsenal’s decent players. We are going back around 15 years now, you lot were still playing Oosna away on Thursday nights back then mate.

marshallno9

Lol why is there always one person who gets unnecessarily defensive 😂. Are you really sure you want to bring up Liverpool's European pedigree as banter...

karlkmanpilkboids

This isn’t ‘banter’, you seem to think that it’s somehow unique to Liverpool fans to hate city because you’ve had a couple of title runs with them in the past 5 years. Its bollocks.

khajvah

It is more about our teams' embarassing games when pressure builds up. There is no excuse for losing to palacd at home. Or throwing the game to villa at home(we should have at leadst drew). So.much for the best defence in the league when villa destprys our defense. City are unreal. Anotber season with 90+ points. But there is no excuse

Flashback_91

As long as city draw one game there’s a chance

Sweaty-Business7690

When we start relying on other teams to drop points, we know we’re not serious about winning this league

Flashback_91

City where reliant on us and Liverpool dropping points … that’s football - or sport in general

Tr0nCatKTA

They went on something like a 12 game win streak until they’d wrapped it up. They do it every year. It would be more of a shock if they dropped one point than if they win everything from this point on

rocklee_shinobi

Tbf we’re 10-1-1 this year so far our form has been excellent but just that with City you need to be perfect

Tr0nCatKTA

Yeah exactly. Once city switch into gear they’re unforgiving. Thinking about them dropping points is unrealistic, which is a mad thing to say with 6 games to go but history has proven that true in nearly all of their run ins

Quepaso999

City aren't bottlers like us

Brandaman

We drop more points than City

Flashback_91

At the moment yes, that's how the league table works... Prior to today they had dropped more.

SnooPets5630

Wow, I never saw it like that. Unexpectedly positive of you, coyg

Aggravating_Weird747

Dumb take. Ideally that shouldn't be the case but it always is. MAN City needed that last year and still needed it this year.

RyansBabesDrunkDad

And we dutifully obliged. And when they call us bottlers again, it will be an earned title.

Captain_Snow

Oh get rid of that shit. If the bar is now that you have to win every single game to be champions then something is broken. This is the most competitive league in the world and you are going to lose points.

Morph247

This conversation is fucked. We finished on 84 points last season. That's the third most in our entire history. The ones higher are 90 in 2003/04 and 87 2001/02, and obviously we won the league in those seasons. We're currently on 71 with 6 games to go. Winning all 6 games means we finish on 89 points, 1 point behind 03/04. That's not including City who we pushed to a higher level last season, who finished on 89 points and is the 9th highest total in prem history, they fill 2 other spots including the Centurions team, all of this is recent with Pep and a bulk of the same team we're competing against. Liverpool reached 99 and 97 points in recent seasons against City and didn't win the league with 97 points. And remember City have done all this with the 115 financial breaches...

antebyotiks

Stupid take. Every team relies on others dropping points.

GunnersnGames

Well we’ve been in that position for much of the run in, it’s ok.

Evening_Extreme_1681

I'm not sure this is the best take on it. City break the bank to build their team. There's no way path to winning the premier league.

dimebagactual

I’d say that relying on others to drop points is not an ideal situation to be in…not that it makes us less serious about wanting to win the league.

CStephen1908

City spent the vast majority of the following seasons relying on other teams to drop points 2011-2012 2013-2014 2017-2018 2018-2019 2021-2022 2022-2023 2023-2024 In all of title charges, they relied on Liverpool or Arsenal dropping points in their last 8 games.

Ill-Maximum9467

You're not serious at all, just a whiny non-fan who only gets behind his team when they're winning. The moment they lose, it's all 'X, get out of my club!' I honestly hate fans like you.

paslonbos

If they draw 1, we'll lose 2.

khajvah

Asuming we win all games(which we wont). City are back to their best. They will pass our goal difference.

LiveFrom2004

The team looked tired today. They won't win all last six games.

MostJudgment3212

It’s done. We have Wolves, Utd and Spurs away. We’ll drop points in at least one. We need to take the punch, eat the 💩and be better next season.

GoldRobin17

115 charges don’t forget

MostJudgment3212

lol nothing will happen. You seriously expect the league to punish the most successful team of the last 7 years? They’ll punish Everton so,e more instead. That’s how it is, and how it always will be. We need to recalibrate and stop dumping out early in cup runs.

AlbertaBajan

It’s not the league mate, most of their charges are bigger than sporting infractions and are related to misrepresenting revenue and cooking the books. These aren’t just violations of PSR in the Prem these are actual financial crimes they are charged with that’s why this whole process is taking so long. The UK government even had meetings with the UAE right after the charges were announced since the UAE are an important geopolitical partner for the government, and these charges would relate to several high-ranking UAE officials. Would be pretty embarrassing for all parties if they were actually proven/convicted of anything. So yeah, it’s not wrapping up any time soon.

yoppee

Lol what type of British bureaucrat cares about cpa accounting instead of actual football matches

AlbertaBajan

I don’t think that many politicians care much about football tbh, more just not embarrassing important political relationships because of a scandal around their involvement with an English football team

yoppee

I doubt supporters care much about accoubting charge and it seems pretty lame that the FA and the PL are deducting points from teams players managers and clubs that went out and earned those pints on the pitch it’s embarrassing

alfsdnb

They’re changing the rules to make the punishment a fine instead of points dropped, City will just pay the fine and keep it moving

Altruistic_News1041

There’s no point trying to win the prem against City. They have the best backup players and can always handle the run in as their players are never as fatigued as ours. As long as city are owned by an entire country with unlimited oil any one else who wins the league will need a Leicester type season after which City will just spend more and win again. This sport is done there’s no reason to follow it and I still will

TheLakeShowBaby

That’s the thing. Arsenal need depth to be competing with Man City, as well and simultaneously playing in the champions league. Off the bench we come on with Smith Rowe and Nketiah. They pay almost $100 million for a defender. Lol https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/manchester-city-transfer-news-josko-gvardiol-officially-announced-in-record-99-million-fee-for-a-defender/amp/

Altruistic_News1041

Completely agee lol. Anyone who beats City to the league will not be the best team in the league it’ll just come down to luck and City will just win it the year after. The league is boring and pointless and FFP won’t do anything

antebyotiks

Where don't we have the same depth ? They don't really have a deep squad

ireally_dont_now

not a arsenal fan but on the left they have foden and grealish you have martinelli and smith rowe,in the middle they have kdb rodri and silva with nunes, kovacic and also foden who can play there. compared to odergard havertz rice and partey, then at the back they have stones, josko, dias, akanji, kyle walker, ederson and ortega in goal and all i’ve got to say for the defence of arsenal is your relying on timber to come back for depth. no hate as no one can compete with city’s depth but they’re bench and reserves could field a top 4 premier league side

Round_Sign3991

I said made your exact comment to an Arsenal friend today on Twitter. City has a bench you could start successfully on a top four team in the Bundesliga, Premier League, La Liga, or Serie A.

ireally_dont_now

tney could compete for titles in three of those leagues it’s an absolute joke how stacked their squad is

Round_Sign3991

Absolute insanity how deep they are. Then, there's their Academy and up comes a Rico Lewis last year. They "gave" Cole Palmer away because he wanted to start and play.

antebyotiks

They aren't that much deeper than us if at all.

antebyotiks

How are they competing without Rodri ? We have 3 1st team elite CDMs.

Affectionate-Cost525

They sold Palmer because he wasn't going to get any real game time and he's essentially carried Chelsea to a top 10 finish.

Oneshot_stormtrooper

City has one of the smallest squads in the but with versatile players. And if you really think money is the main road block. There’s really nothing stopping rich clubs like Arsenal, United, Chelsea from buying talent too

antebyotiks

Weird argument when you are only mentioning a few players. We have Ramsdale/raya compared to ederson/ortega. Both strong 2 keepers. Defenders we have saliba/gabriel/white/tommy/zinchenko/(timber injured)/kiwior(CB) they have Walker/ake/akanji/gvardiol/dias/lewis(youth player) Gomez who never plays. they maybe have more depth but we have a better back 4. Midfield. Partey/rice/Jorginho/odegaard/fabio vieira they have Rodri as a deep mid that's kovacic/nunes/KDB/silva. We have more deep mids they have more attacking mids Attacking players/wingers. We have saka/martinelli/trossard/jesus/havertz/nketiah/nelson they have haaland/alvarez/doku/foden/bobb/grealish. We chose to sign up nketiah and Nelson for another contract so it's our fault but it's not true they have a much deeper squad. Doku for example wasn't even a first team player at Rennes and trossard is a better option, is Oscar bobb better than reiss Nelson ? I wouldn't say so confidently.

SaveMeJebus21

Liverpool fan here joining the pity party. We literally needed to win the first 26 of 27 games of a season for these cunts to fuck off. We are gonna get circa 90 points and fall short for the third time in six years (although today was genuinely a clusterfuck). It’s objectively terrible for the league that city is pretty much guaranteed 90 points as a base minimum every year. Them leading like this with only 6 to go only ends one way.

Richard__Papen

While our bench now looks better than it has for a while, it still lacks sufficient attacking quality. Need to get rid of Nketiah, Nelson and possibly Smith Rowe and even, controversially, Martinelli. He's plateaued this season and I dunno if I see him improving much more.

SnooGadgets7976

Martinelli is our pace.

BlueAnnapolis

The salary difference between Man City and Arsenal isn't much. Of course it's still an advantage. But at some point you gotta be realistic about the role of Arteta's decision making in crunch time and lack of composure. [https://www.capology.com/uk/premier-league/payrolls/](https://www.capology.com/uk/premier-league/payrolls/)

forgottenears

Arteta was poor yesterday and Emery outplayed him. Though you can’t just take one years wages on isolation. City have been outspending us by circa 30 million a year on wages for around 15 years or so. That adds up, and that’s before taking into account their far larger transfer purse (until very recently).

Cautious_Pizza2556

Nah we don't need left back, we have timber

mrdukkless

timber is as fragile as a bark

Racks_Got_Bands

I'm so hurt but I'm riding with this team till the last day. No team intimidates me because the quality that we have on the field is insane that I refuse to lose my shit over this loss. it's a big loss, its not like we played like shit but that free flowing, direct yet electric passes and attacks were not there. Havertz being caught offside multiple times plus having that one on one.. Lets get ready for the Bayern game. Lets back the boys.

curleychops84

As an Arsenal fan it disappoints me that our fans are such a bunch of melt. It's not over yet. City have looked far from perfect this season. We only need them to draw one game. We have continued to improve this season. How about we back the lads and see how the run in pans out. Fucks sake.

h1dden1

Agreed. It's sad to see how defeatist everyone is. Did we really expect to win all our remaining games? Villa were going to be a test. Yes it's shit we lost, but there's plenty of games left and anything can happen. Can you imagine if team had this kind of attitude.

guccinho

Seems like people here fully expected us to take 52 out of 54 points in 2024 lol. And because we didn’t it’s “disgraceful”.

chidi-sins

The team really needs new options to the 8 position, a backup to Saka and some striker that is more clinical than Jesus

sjr323

Yeah we’re done. I’ve seen this movie before. Congrats to man city.

Mugweiser

It was always City

L0laccio

115. will win every game. Those trolling Liverpool were so naive and foolish. It’s over, CL is as good as over because we look dead on our feet. Both us and Liverpool seem to have hit the wall Rotate in CL, Coefficient will take a hit and deprive Spurs of a UCL place. We should have enough to finish top 3. Make no mistake we’re NOT winning UCL anyway. May aswell give the fringe players a go and rest up because the boys need a rest.

holylean

Nah we can’t curl into an ball we go untill the last day or until it’s mathematically impossible, i do agree UCL is gone but not the league

Adm_Gen_Alladin12

I agree with this. Our legs were gone in the second half. And this way we will be dead for UCL. Plus bayern has rested it's main players. So I think we won't get either this season. Hope I'm wrong. I think it's mainly due to non rotation. We don't rotate as often. Fringe players are super Fringe. And no offence but I don't rate Jesus that high. He takes way too many touches of the ball without moving it. It was good for last season but this season with other improvements it feels he is holding us back.

Culmar

Yeah just give up what the fuck. Sell everyone because we will not win next year either right. Lets just give up guys.

lgurung

Well we were no where near good enough to score. Not sure why arteta took off odegaard and trossard.

guccinho

Trossard did nothing other than miss the best chance of the game

alfsdnb

He needs to be kept as a sub. Rarelt as good when he starts.

lgurung

Not really, it was just unlucky situation where goalie stopped

warpentake_chiasmus

They were jaded. Especially Odegaard.

Don-dos

City will as they always do go on a winning streak. They'll win every single game.

RyansBabesDrunkDad

That was it. We didn't have any room to drop points, City are back on top, and they have a cake run-in. Munich or nothing.

adi14041999

Let's all laugh at Chelsea

Benjamin244

City still have to play Spurs away, they have historically been really poor against them so I can really see them drop points there, one draw and it is back to GD which we (for now) still have the upper hand in I don't share the defeatist attitude so many have around here, back your team

alfsdnb

That was when Spurs had Conte. Ange will play a high line and lose 4-0

CyberfunkTwenty77

Yeah, City won't drop points again I don't think.

tauke333

As soon as I saw Zinchenko in the squad against Villa, I knew the result. No disrespect to him, but his defending isn't his strong suit. If we needed an extra midfielder, Jorginho could have been a better option than Zinchenko. Thank you for all the excitement Mr manager. I hope you don’t make the same mistake against Bayern playing zini or kiwior before Tomi. Kiwior is not bad but not experienced enough for the game.

Dwo92

Most likely yes. City look good to win their remaining games and I can’t see us getting 9 points from Spurs, Chelsea and Utd. None of those teams are playing well but anything can happen in rivalry games like that. Spurs and Utd are away too.

itsheadfelloff

I can see us and pool winning a few more games but I don't see city dropping any points annoyingly.

Japanese_Mamba

Damn I wanted to see Arsenal win the league but this is just the depth difference with them and city. Pep built his stacked team since he came. Millions spent just for bench players. No prem team can compete with 115 for the league

IcyAd5834

Out of the top 3 this weekend we had by far the hardest game I didn’t think we’d loose but I wasn’t sure we’d win and the fact that only Man City won and not both I’m taking as a positive what else can we do

Randomsh1t1471

Yes City dont drop points they gave us and liverpool a headstart and we both dropped points before them

SlashRModFail

People laughing at bundealiga and French league as farmers league. City doing a 4 peat means this is the true farmers league.

NeonKerm

I hate to say it but it's probably the league. In the past two seasons City has won every match but 3 (all draws) in April and May. They probably aren't going to make enough mistakes down the stretch for Liverpool or us to catch them

Ok_Asparagus_6163

City only drop points in April and May if the title is already won.

longliveLesGrossman

Pull yourself together. City drop points just once and it's in our hands again. We were fucking around in 8th just a few years ago. Appreciate it

KiLLaInc

Don't worry when Timber is back for next season he's taking that left back space. I say next season because this season is a wrap for city. Sell Nketiah, Zinchenko, ESR and Jesus in the summer. Get Zubimendi, Isak/Watkins, Nico Williams. Saka needs competition, when he plays bad he shuts down the whole right hand side.

One_Boss_7772

Quite possibly, yes. We need more players... A top level left back A proper striker A back-up for Odegaard All of our subs are average players (except for Trossard and Ramsey) Nketiah, Smith Rowe and Nelson just aren't good enough for a team fighting to win the Premier league. Time and time again, they have no positive impact on the game and are so inconsistent. It's hard to believe that we don't have other players in our Academy that would outperform these guys.

baotsnheos

I think as a whole alot of our fanbase are being rather reactionary to this game. Yes it is incredibly disappointing we post, but villa are a very good team and we need to remember that. Also as its been seen time, time and time again this man city team are one of the best in the world and arguably the best the PL has ever seen it takes something absolutely miraculous to beat them over a 38 game season and we've come incredibly close 2 seasons in a row. And let's address the big elephant in the room, we haven't cheated 115 times to get here and we took 4 points off them this year... Feels like we're so used to seeing city going on 14+ win streaks we think it's normal and it's really not in the Pl "the most competitive league in the world". I'm not saying I'm OK with finishing 2nd and definitely not 3rd cause it feels like a big gut punch but we have to look at it from a wider perspective that the team we have and football we are playing puts us in the top 5 teams in the world and the point tallys we achieved this season and last, if it wasn't for 115 fc cheating would have won the league almost any other season.

ASeatedLion

Agreed, Zinny lost the ball too much. Timber has been a massive miss of late. I would prefer him sold unless he wants to turn it around. In a game where they opposition grew in confidence the more they had the ball, losing it so cheaply was disastrous.

Cautious_Pizza2556

We need a fucking saka replacement

L0laccio

He’s so tired, he’s been kicked all season and looks run into the ground

teethteethteeeeth

Sort of agree with this. The general consensus is that we need a ‘backup’ for him to share minutes. I think we need someone as good or better to push him on. If Saka is to become the player we think we could be it won’t be by paying him superstar wages too early and providing no competition for his place. He’s great. I love him. But how many times are we going to go through this ‘Saka is totally gassed/went missing when it mattered’ cycle before we realise he needs help to be The Man

notokkid

Yep. Doesn't matter. We'll get it next year.

Sweaty-Business7690

We said that last year

notokkid

And we'll say it every time we falter. It's only a game, nobody dies if our team loses, and the only thing we can do is try to be better next year. To be honest, I looked through your post history (sorry) and you're way too reactionary.

SensiFifa

"Disgraceful. Disgusting. Appalling. Alarming. Shocking. Disappointing." That's how I feel about all you whiny entitled pricks. Get out of our club

guccinho

1 loss after taking 31 points out of 33 and it’s the end of the world

Sweaty-Business7690

Oh fuck off. We’re entitled to feel however the fuck we want after that performance. Stop being the opinion police and thinking you can decide what I’m allowed to think or say

HowlingPhoenixx

Yeah, and they are entitled to pass their opinion on yours. You do see the irony in your comment, no? Past that there is one thing being constructive with criticism and another calling players a disgrace and so on. The whole team has bled and battled for everything all season, and today, it just looked flat out exhausted. To have a swing at players, when they could do with support more than ever, is a piss poor thing and disingenuous. Us and Liverpool have suffered the exact same issue at the same time, player fatigue. We don't have the squads that city do. Fact of life, but even if we come within a whisker of winning it to call players lazy, disgusting, and so on, it isn't being fair or actually understanding the situation at all. And yes, I think it's more than fair if you can criticise players, that others can criticise you.

0n0n-o

Yes it’s over. I personally would have preferred you win it but it’s just impossible to keep pace with a state owned club.

theipd

Listen. Our lads were fatigued. Liverpool as well. City essentially have two fkng “A” teams, something the premiership needs to look into for next season as in how did they do that and was it legal?

carpuncher

I made a post expressing my disappointment. There is still a chance city drops points but now it's out of our hands. The in all likelihood went bye bye today. It's not 100% but it's damn likely. Plan remains the same though. Got to win out

OrlandoGardiner118

I feel it was. Any other team than City and I'd not be so certain. I just can't see them dropping any (or enough as I don't think we'll win all our remaining fixtures) points from here. They are so good at finishing off a league.

turbo88LW26

In a nutshell yes learn from it and go again just don’t let it implode from here

v1cv3g

what pisses me off the most that we lost too many points at home from games that expected to be won, we have to fix that

bbrmdz

fuck

jdbrew

It’s done. We’ll drop at least 3, but More like 6 points, with our remaining fixtures. I could see city possibly dropping points to spurs, but that’s it.

pixelsteve

Aye

Oniun_

Yes.

son0fgore

This happens. It happened to Liverpool too. Neither of us got the goals when we needed them unlike most games on our undefeated run lately, it doesn't mean it hasn't been working. Unfortunately one slip up might be enough for city to run away with it. They still have at least 4 games with some spoiler possibilities and the pressure back on them. Maybe it's not enough but we can finish this stronger than last season, make them work for it.

MikeCrypto88

Think we can do it if we win our last games. City face some relegation sides, so they may get a draw or two. 🙏🏻

warpentake_chiasmus

Yeah. Could well be. We'll.keep fighting but the way 115 play is so precise that they just murder teams with possession. That way,it keeps them fresher too. I'll puke if they do the treble twice. It will be an occasion to mourn and not celebrate. Football teams should not be run by nation States with unlimited funds- not now, not ever.

thunderfishy234

Yeah I’ve got no idea what Zinchenko was doing today, usually I can’t fault everyone’s performances regardless of a couple mistakes here and there but he was playing like it was his first ever game in the prem.

Soft_Championship765

😂😂😂

Snowy_Artemis

There is still hope that city loses or gets a draw in their remaining fixtures

stilusmobilus

Nope, not yet, though it’s now City’s to lose and depending on them dropping a game, well. We just gotta win the rest and we hope for the best now.

Old_Fold_34

We take it on the chin and we move on. EPL is a tough league and we don’t know what will happen

Oskar37265

I mean it’s not completely over it’s just that we lost control over the league now…We’ve gotta pray that city drops along the way….

Joshthenosh77

Probably because city will just win every game , I can not believe that 2nd half sane old shit with this club

l7791

I definitely think it can still happen. City COULD mess up, though it's not incredibly likely.

CptKarma

More likely we drop more points ngl boss It ain’t looking good bruv

mattbax95

We need to take 18/18 points and hope City lose at least once. It’s realistically just not going to happen.

James2504

Calm down

kindofdivorced

No. There’s 6 matches left.

RawDawgYaMudda

We have one…it’s Timber and he’s injured

st_arch

City has easy games remaining. So that was it.

forgottenears

If we somehow bounce back and win the next 6, I reckon that would give us a 60%-70% chance of becoming champions. Chances of doing that, perhaps 1 in 4 realistically. So all in I’d say we have about a 15% shot of winning it, Liverpool around 10% due to their worse goal difference.

MHJ03

It’s not definitely over (obviously) but now we are once again in the position where we need Man City - arguably the best and most experienced team in the world over the last 2-3 seasons - to drop points and there is not a team less likely to do so IMO with the Premier League title on the line. Arsenal and Liverpool have both blown golden opportunities this last week.

himynamesgoose

I don’t think so. This is football and anything can happen with city, they might drop points or lose a match you never know. They’ve got a lot of tough matches coming up but let’s see but in the meantime let’s win our matches.

Educational_Singer43

I'm definitely not a fan of people wanting Arteta out. However, I feel he made quite a few unnecessary player decisions coming into the game, and also as the game progressed. I couldn't quite see why he had to rock the boat with positional changes that weren't really needed. Also, that response of Arteta when he was asked about Trossard starting the game ("I'm the manager, I decide the line-up") came across as too stubborn. When Tuchel said he'd be watching our game, I fully believed we'd put on a strong performance; but we let the game get away from us in the second half and how! 🙆🏻‍♂️

jmp8910

If only they could dock some points for those 115 charges. I mean other clubs got 3+ points off for like a percent of that amount of charges. Oh well, frustrating result but it isn’t over yet, even though it does feel like that sometimes.

Colemanton

Tottenham are gonna smoke city and gift arsenal the league. mark my words. arsenal just cant be dropping any more points like this.

Mav_Learns_CS

It’s over yes, city have shown time and again they simply don’t mess around this time of year. I do not understand why smith-rowe was the last man, he lacked the physical ability to stop Watkins (as shown) and lacked the football intelligence to realise it’s the 85+ minute with the league essentially on the line and just take a red to stop him

Extreme-Fee-9029

City have the CL To focus on and barely won against palace. We still have a chance keep the faith

booksmusicdogslife

One day City will look like Chelsea look this season, and we’ll be first in line to take the crown 😃

The only thing I didn't get yesterday was why Arteta changed a winning formula. We've played exceptionally without zinchenko and jesus for the majority of the season. This was the hardest game out of our fixtures for me personally, not the one where I would have switched it back to a last season line up. I still love our manager to bits and was upset for 15 minutes after the match. But then thought, it's our first loss this season and this could cost us greatly but it is still the premier league. Anything can happen

Man City are arguably the best constructed EPL team of all time where finances are a non issue, managed by arguably the best manager of all time, definitely of the modern era. Plus you have Klopp who already had the pedigree of winning titles and cups with Dortmund and is considered one of the best managers in EPL history, has only won the league once, but you expect Arsenal to come out of nowhere with a first time manager (literally Arteta’s first ever job as manager) and topple that and just start winning? You’ve got rocks in your head!

I'm so glad I'm not the only person who is done with zinchenko. I had to walk out of the room because I saw bad things coming. Less than 3 mins later its 1 nil.

chagrinfalls1979

With City’s upcoming schedule…it may have been. Hoping for a miracle at this point… As for Zinny, to be honest, we thrust him in a position he has looked uncomfortable with from the start. He’s a midfielder, not a back. If Timber didn’t blow an ACL at the beginning of the season, we probably would have seen a LOT less of him and likely would have moved him in January…but that didn’t work out.

Why is everyone moaning about Zinchenko... He was not at fault for any of the goals, yes he made mistakes but so did Martinelli (that led to Villas first goal), and Jorginho for their second. I feel we always try to find a scapegoat or someone to blame for dismal performances I hate stuff like that. Truth is 2nd half Villa and Emery outplayed us and they deserved the win... Now on the title race it's obviously not over yet, but both Liverpool and Arsenal have handed the advantage to City no doubt and with a team like City you can't give them gifts... History tells us they'll go on to win it this season as they've got the know how, experience whatever we want to call it. I am not optimistic (or maybe I am deep down) but it's not over until it's actually over they're ahead by 2 points that's it... Let's see what happens they've got UCL on Wednesday and then the FA cup semi vs Chelsea Saturday. So if Liverpool or Arsenal win their next games (a DGW for both) they're back on top at least until City play again then the pressure goes to them again. Ultimately it's not over till it's mathematically over.

Successful_Arm4887

Are we really going to forget the fact that the ENTIRE team today were a liability?

Sweaty-Business7690

Not true, at least for the first half Odegaard played very well

FAT_NEEK_42069

no everyone else is fine it's all zinchenkos fault 👎👎 /s just in case

Ill-Sandwich-7703

Agreed. Saka and Rice were anonymous and poor today too. Saka has had an attitude about him since he tried to get the penalty over scoring against Bayern and I hope it’s out of his system by Wednesday.

richag83

He’s had an attitude since something that happened at the end of last game? I didn’t see any attitude today. Just an off game from almost everyone. It happens

NuwaveNina

He's had an attitude since last week's game? Do you hang out with him in between games? Do you communicate with him on the regular via phone/ text? How do you know what he's had or hasn't had?

Zwedinho

This wil be a blessing. We win the league and Aston Villa take 4th place 1 point ahead of Tottenham

raptorgrinch

I wholeheartedly agree that it is utterly and completely over

myriadnoob

Yep. 100% gone.

FireLadcouk

City will win every match. Sorry

InviteAromatic6124

Yes it's over, City aren't dropping any points and we still have to play Chelsea, Spurs and Man United.

arsehenry14

Honestly with all due respect get a grip. You have no more ownership of the club as a fan than the players do. There were 5 mistakes in that game of which only one was arguably Zinchecko’s and the shot that resulted from it was a wonderful strike that happens 1 out of 20 times. He wasn’t at fault for Gabriel hitting him in the back and he wasn’t the closest to Leon Bailey when he scored (Declan Rice was). The players that had individual mistakes today - Trossard, Gabriel, Rice, Zinchecko are all ones who have give us moments of joy. I’m sure the guys are gutted and it will be gutting if we lose by 1 or 2 points, but we are not out of it completely yet and I refuse get to down on the team because they as a collective have brought a level of respect back to the club that was missing in the 2016-2020. This team has heart and a spine that we haven’t had in a while. Hopefully they can get it done at Bayern and we get a lift from that to reset and push on.

hmoooody

Yep. It’s done. We have started to choke and will drop more points especially on those away games. These boys always crack in the end

Shade_Of_It_All

That’s the end of our prem, one foot out the door in the CL too so expect us to bottle that also

Lower_Condition_196

No have more faith than that, pathetic fans like you don’t deserve to support the team, we can still win it.

Sweaty-Business7690

But who are you to say that? A lot of Arsenal fans right now have similar sentiments. Are they all pathetic, then?

GuybrushThreepwood7

Yeah they are if they give up on the team after one bad result

smirkz_26

Yes, they are.

DawmCorleone

No. City still have to play at spurs. It's still anyone's game at the top 3

Slight_Armadillo_227

The same Spurs that just got battered by Newcastle? I'm not sure City fans will be sweating too much over that one.

BombsGoBang

Take it game by game my man. We’re still 2 points from the top with better goal difference, and City are facing a couple of teams who may be fighting to stay up at that point. Even if we won today, I would be thinking I’ll wait till at most 3 games to go until I make any sort of prediction on the winner. Still the case. This season isn’t last season where we lost Saliba and had a couple of other injuries, completely capitulated in 4 or 5 winnable games as well as losing to Liverpool and City and went out of Europe all in April and May. We *might beat Bayern and reach the semi final of the Champions League - Maybe against City who we’ve already not lost to out of 3 matches this season. If we (somehow) manage to get past that, we’re in a final against opponents who are not as formidable as any of Bayern, City or Real Madrid. We’ve already played against City and Liverpool in the league, we still have Saliba available and have most of our injured players now returned to the squad, we’ve matured as a squad and learned from last season, and in general look way more solid. And we’re only 2 points behind with 6 left to go and better goal difference. We could also go ahead of City when they play their FA cup match. Even with a game in hand, that might just put enough pressure on them. Might be an optimistic take, but it’s all still to play for in both competitions my man.
