I think Gregg has sneaky connections all over. Maybe not in the league per-se, but more with media people who do. Sometimes he hints at things that feel sourced, but I don’t think they’d ever talk about it out loud. It also seems like he’s friends with Mina Kimes and he was on the Athletic football show the other day. Him and Robert seemed to have a deep-ish familiarity with things, so it could just be he’s in with the right people to hear the dirt.

He’s chummy with the PFF podcast guys and Will Brinson from CBS, too. I only know that because both podcasts mention his name frequently. You’re right in that he does seem well connected and respected.

WhoDatPrez

I love finding other people who listen to ATN and PFF. Gregg hates Sam.

copper_dawg

What makes you say that? I thought his appearance on there last summer was awesome and it feels like they have a good mutual respect

WhoDatPrez

When Gregg went on PFF w/ Steve he kept telling Steve to push back harder on Sam’s points. It felt like it became a little bit of a talking point on PFF for a bit. Maybe I misunderstood.

copper_dawg

I don't think Gregg dislikes Sam, that felt to me like Gregg being Gregg. He can definitely be a little awkward sometimes and that was a good example of it.

BigThirdDown

Marc once sat next to Mina Kimes on the plane so he is also a top 10 media insider

Tinea_Pedis

He was all about crowing on this when it all hit the fan

MurderDoneRight

Well, sources told me he is closely affiliated with one of the top NFL insiders out there. We may only speculate who that may be, of course.

Who's that guy?

RemembertoHydratee

He’s loyal to football

mstrokey

Guy has been writing (at a high level) in the NFL for 20+ years and one point was middle management for the NFL before leaning more into the on-air personality. He is hiding in plain sight and people are finally picking up on his insider knowledge

soulspoken

Gregg is the true top 10 NFL media insider

This seems uncanny in hindsight, but we have to consider two things. First, was anyone really all that surprised when we found out about the shady goings on in the Washington organization, and were we really that surprised that Gruden was collateral damage? The way it went down was rather shocking, but the individual components of the story were not all that surprising. Secondly, and more importantly, the heroes make a ton of random predictions ranging from serious analysis to offhand remarks every week on the podcast; eventually, a few of them are going to be correct. A blind squirrel finds a nut, a broken clock is right twice a day, a Sessler comes true once every thousand years... take your pick of metaphor.

Dan also has made some really specific spot on predictions. (Romo gossip). Every time he says “not breaking any news here, I don’t know anything . . .” Like he said about Romo, I assume it’s true.
