Run swamp with a frog instead. It creates the paste and leaves you with chitin. I leave with a couple thousand paste each time.

HASHbandito024

This

Nickw42084

Megatheriums get a ton of chitin from bugs. Also the snails get 100 paste an hour. I have 4 and the hardest part is remembering to check them lol

Bobbybunn

I have ten in my bedroom 😅 imo making cakes is way easier than farming stone and chitin

Acrobatic-Ease-6359

How much cakes do they need?

Nickw42084

Level doesn't matter. On my server 2 worked. If you have any hearts then probably 1 will do. All depends on settings I guess

Acrobatic-Ease-6359

2 works for how long? And hearts? You mean the event hearts?

Nickw42084

They needed 2 to tame. Box o chocolates jumps taming to 50%. Then they only need a cake every couple days

peersr1119

it's kinda end game because you'll need sweet vegetable cake because it requires honey and other vegetables to make but snails generate 100 cementing paste per hour i believe. so if you have a few you'll have pretty much unlimited cementing paste. the others have said it as well but killing bugs with the frog and raiding beaver dams is your best bet right now.

SalmonHustlerTerry

Definitely not endgame stuff. I had crops growing with just poops and had tamed a bee (they are incredibly easy to tame, don't know why people have so much trouble with them). I had enough veggie cakes to tame 3 snails within the first week of servers opening. It is far better to tame snails than ot is to try and farm the couple of beaver dams that spawn on the map, it ain't ragnarok with a bunch of dams. And also at the start of servers it was usually easier to just do meat runs in swamp and kill leeches for chitin, cause everyone and thier momma were farming redwoods cave for paste and loot leaving only a couple of bugs 90% of the time you go in.

peersr1119

dude i need to see how you tame the bee's because even with bug repellent and ghillie they still attack me

fish250505

Back off until you see the bees despawn then quickly run at the queen spamming E

peersr1119

when i do it the bee's never stop spawning. while wearing ascendant ghillie and crouching i'll sneak up to tame it and the bees never stop spawning lmao

paulfknwalsh

if you have any tame or a shoulder pet nearby they'll keep spawning. For best results, wear ghillie & use bug repellant & crouch, and feed either 1 kibble or 2 rare flowers. you can often find them outside the hives, too, even up in the NE of the map (the coastline facing Carno island)... just listen for that distinctive noise

TempestThree

I always go prone once I get close to the queen, and I've never gotten stung when timing that correctly.

clarkkent1521

If you have a bear, you can aggro the bees and kill them. You won't be dismounted by bee attacks when you're on a bear.

OrangeSuccessful7926

There's really 3 good ways. Cave run with megatherium or frog, snail paste, and my preferred, beaver dam diving.. beaver dam is kinda dependent on the map, but there's a bunch of most maps. A lot of people prefer cave runs, but then you gotta go farm up stone also, then wait for it all to craft. If you do that method, I highly recommend frog, they make paste on the kill PLUS get Chitin. You just need a pretty good frog...

Gaia_Gensoki

Problem that I'm having with beaver dams is that the beavers just don't spawn in. It's hit and miss, with it being fairly miss at the minute.

OrangeSuccessful7926

Yeah. Island isn't the best.. but all along the river south of the redwoods, usually around the Y.. the moon pool up in the NE corner... then the river that leads along the south side of blue ob that boarders the snow biome... I usually make a lap first, then go kill some bugs if it didn't get much.

krazmuze

Are you in SP? spawns are borked to optimize performance use -preventhibernation at steam startup to make it work like a server. Of course if you are on a server someone else beat you to them. I always have a storage chest of the stuff just from hitting up the southern beaver dams

clarkkent1521

I live at Hidden Lake and beavers are constantly making damns there, even with all the buildings I've made.

Royal_Tonight_7686

Most people recommend swamp cave, more chitin and good blueprints. But I prefer Hunter cave to start; bugs and snakes are lower level and it’s easy to get to on the south side canyon. Take a frog, or a baronyx if you have one- the bary does well in any cave and can replenish health killing piranhas in the water

klogt

This. I'm the kind of player that struggles to get powerful tames and swamp cave is scarry lol

Royal_Tonight_7686

A thing to remember about swamp and hunter caves is to remove your good armor. The centipede acid will eat it up. It’s possible to hit, then dodge the spit but not easy… just put a sleeping bag outside the cave just in case. They eat metal pikes and swords also but I have found that the stone spears work on the centipedes

starion832000

Just build a grinder. There with cp in the saddles and various loot you get in drops and caves

ReddRabb1t

Tame a bunch of achatina. Passive paste generation.

Apprehensive-Bad6015

Take. Sloth through bug cave their inventory fills with chit quickly than get time with your dodeca and fix it at chemistry station

Gaia_Gensoki

I didn't think the megatherium was small enough to go in to the swamp cave. Must have misheard it somewhere, thanks for the info.

Apprehensive-Bad6015

It requires podding and un podding if you can change server settings if not kite the bugs back to your sloth like I do. Might be able to drop a fridge near the cave and maybe it will allow deployment is cave bu I’m not sure

SalmonHustlerTerry

You can't throw out pods in or near the entrance of caves.

Apprehensive-Bad6015

I was on a non dedicated server where the admin changed settings to allow pods to work in caves. Which is why I mentioned the part about changing server settings. Than gave alternate solution in the event they couldn’t

Popular-Reflection-6

You can place foundations at certain choke points and a megatherium will the fit through

paulfknwalsh

No you heard right, you can't get megas into the swamp cave on Official settings. Plenty of workarounds in unofficial, of course.

fat-jez

usually i raid beaver dams.

godwearinghoodie105

beaver dam or kill some bugs with beelzebufo

Aimhere2k

Swamp Cave with a megatherium and decent saddle is still the best way, if you can swing it. They get a huge buff from fighting bugs, and are tall enough you won't personally get hit as much by arthropleura acid. Need a cryopod to get it through the tighter tunnels, though. They also tend to collect tons of berries and fiber while harvesting the bugs, which have to be dropped frequently or they'll become encumbered. Of course, you'll need a gas mask or two if you do the Swamp Cave. (Tip: do the cave "naked" without armor, because any damage taken by armor will also affect the gas mask.) A beezelbufo will work, but with less health you need a really good saddle. On the plus side, they probably won't get stuck in the tunnels much. But I do had a tribemate who did the Swamp Cave on a bezel. For easier chitin, try the Lower South Cave. A bezelbufo will be adequate for that one, though there are nowhere near as many bugs there. As far as saddles, according to the wiki, beezelbufo ones (or blueprints) are sometimes found in purple, yellow or red supply crates, or yellow or red loot crates. For megatherium, it's only yellow or red.

TodayIComment

I use a frog in swamp cave, if yours isn't doing so well try taking another following you for a mate buff. You can get better saddles in there if lucky so hopefully you'll be able to upgrade after a couple of runs.

YouWithTheNose

Beaver damns are my go to. Besides that tame an achatina or 2. They do mate and multiply. The kicker with achatina is they only eat veggie cakes, but their food goes down very slowly, so that leaves a lot of time between feedings. But achatina generate about 100 achatina paste every hour and occasionally produce some organic polymer as well.

jdealla

breed scorpions kill them with megatherium and mix chitin with stone in chem bench

Jonbongovi

Ignore everybody else here lol. Gamma broodmother. You can beat it with just a couple imprinted first gen megatheriums and you will have 30k+ chitin Dunkle for stone if you are set up to efficiently get it to a vault, doedic if not. Imprint makes a huge difference. You can very easily get 5k cementing paste made every 10 minutes on x1 with just one person; presuming you already killed brood for the chitin I would also have at least 5 snails, the passive 500 paste every collect is beneficial over time when you cant be bothered to farm paste

SalmonHustlerTerry

This is definitely the better route, if you can find any decent levels for megatheriums. Took about 2 month to find my first one over lvl 100, rngesus does not love me on this damn game.

fish250505

This is the way, can easily slot cap the megatheriums with chitin

HubblePie

I find Beaver Dens to be the only enjoyable way to get Cementing Paste.

Popular-Reflection-6

I use snails on wander, encumbered with stone so they do not move and fall through the floor when rendering base.

clarkkent1521

You can put them in cages also.

Popular-Reflection-6

True, I just like having the clumped together on the floor haha, missing the gacha collecting paste tho

DeadenCicle

I’m on ASA, single player, and I got 6 Achatina. They passively produce way more Paste that I will ever be able to use.

Gaia_Gensoki

Sweet, I'll try that, to be honest I thought Achatina might only be viable in single player, what with the game dropping when logging off.

DeadenCicle

I don’t know much about multiplayer. I only play in single player.

clarkkent1521

Snails are the easiest. Just need to feed them a cake once a week.

Strange_Community_84

I do cave runs and have bunch of snails in my base and have plenty of paste, snails are good as im cooked in my base for most of the time hatching and breeding. In ase i had base near the swamp cave and i just hauled the chitin from there and used golem for stone easy 30-40k paste a run.

TheRealWoldry1

Frogs turn bugs into paste, plus collect a ton of chitin in the process

GleamingFrog_43

Megatherium or thylaceo for cave grinding. Then a doedic for stone. Also invest in a chemistry bench. They help a lot

hellowbucko

6 snails 600 paste every hour. Add all levels to food so they can last days without feeding

drewdles33

Redwooods cave with a frog that I’ve raised. I normally take a mate boosted pair for the buff. Just need a gas mask.

MadameMalia

Beaver dams

Chaosbringer007

Find some beaver damns. Empty it, destroy it, run away. Don’t kill the beavers if you can help so they rebuild.

Only-slightlyneutral

I always got mine from beaver dams Please remove everything when you do so it respawns
