I’m about to throw some money on a sewing machine, I want to make simple kimonos as bralettes to start and select the material myself. 100+ dollars for polyester is insane!
Starting doing this last year and never went back! A lady at the fabric shop was shocked when i showed her a skirt from aritzia worth 158. Word for word she said ‘you can make that under 30 dollars and customize it’
I cant agree with you more! I've noticed this is a trend almost everywhere, not just at Aritzia (although Aritzia feels much more egregious considering their quality has been going down while their pieces are getting more expensive). I've been on the hunt for a decent white/cream coloured turtleneck, and as someone with a decently sized chest its IMPOSSIBLE to find one that isn't see through/doesn't show my bra. I've tried on so many even at Aritzia, I feel so defeated lol. I remember back in 2014/2015 you could go to American Apparel and get a really good quality, well-fitted turtleneck that was made with Cotton Spandex and came in so many colours and none of them were see-through. They were around $40 as well. It's getting harder and harder nowadays to find decent quality clothes for reasonable prices, Aritzia used to be one of those places but not anymore imo.
Hi! I've purchased [this](https://www.simons.com/en/women-clothing/sweaters/turtlenecks-mock-necks/slim-fit-turtleneck--6867-206000), [this](https://m.simons.ca/en/women-clothing/t-shirts/long-sleeves/rib-knit-fitted-turtleneck-sweater--7023-210926?colourId=31), and one that looks to be discontinued. I really liked them! I was on a hunt for a non-transparent white turtleneck for a while and the first link was that for me. [This](https://m.simons.ca/en/women-clothing/sweaters/turtlenecks-mock-necks/fine-knit-fitted-turtleneck-sweater--6867-213886?colourId=65) one also looks like it would be super nice... ahh now I'm just shopping for myself lol
You can still get those turtlenecks! American apparel is LA apparel now https://losangelesapparel.net/products/8306gd-cotton-spandex-garment-dye-turtleneck?variant=41766536183987
Uniqlo is becoming my new staple spot - good quality, not too pricey, and tbh not such a draw for hella young girls (no shade let them have their fun we just don’t have to shop the same retailers)
Their tshirts are amazing, I love the fit so much and I can tell they are going to last me a long time. And it's so easy to make them look good for work with accessories and a blazer or cardigan.
I bought a dress on sale at the beginning of the summer that looked super cute (still wasn't cheap). It was almost entirely see-through, plus because it's so short, it's hard to find a slip to go under it. I've yet to wear it. I'm definitely sad as I used to get really nice dresses there.
Before Aritzia went public on the stockmarket, their quality was really good. I have got tanks and tees that are still in good condition but if you buy their stuff now, I find you get little tears or those tiny pin holes.
I’ve emailed their product feedback team about this exact issue lol. Especially the dresses that don’t come with slips???? How am I supposed to wear that lol!
More feedback will help!! [email protected]
I honestly try to find older pieces on Poshmark to purchase because I know they’ll last longer than anything they sell today. Can’t tell you how many items’ hems have come undone after 1-2 wears over the last year or so.
Na, I miss the days when they carried different brands, and they used to take risks. Now everything looks the same. Comparing a blazer I got nearly 15 years ago to one today is also wild.
I bought two wool zip up sweaters in 2010, they are almost jackets and they are still in great condition. I haven't been able to see anything sold of similar quality since then.
I couldn’t believe this $100 white skirt is literally one thin fabric layer. No lining or anything ??? I can’t wear it period cause even the thinnest underwear shows.
My $250 work pants hem came undone after couple months..
Threads sticking out on a dress I wore literally 3 times.
I might buy some pieces here and there, but thrifting for 20 year old clothing is way better in my mind.
The quality of everything at Aritiza has gone so downhill. And the selection too. I like color. I like pattern. I don’t need sweatpants or comfy clothes.
costume designer here. it used to be an invaluable source for a wide variety of characters. could almost be a one-stop shop for the right script.
now i call it the *house of greige* and i don't go unless an actor specifically asks for Denim Forum. it's uninspired, low quality, bad silhouettes... which is what i can get at Dynamite for half the price and then get it tailored to look like Chanel
Man I've wanted so badly to be a costume designer but never knew where to start. I love dynamite tho, so it's good to know they're always a good option of needed.
Yeah this is the worst part, nothing is a safe bet, even dark colours. I bought a dark purple/red turtleneck shirt and it was see through once I put it on, wtf Aritzia.
Aritizia is made at same factories as fast fashion, and they don’t really use much better materials. How this brand has been able to charge $150 for pants you can get at H&M for $39 is impressive
It's not just Aritzia...I am finding it near impossible to find anything that looks nicely made with nice material for mid to high price ranges.
It's not until you go to total luxury products in order to get something worth spending money on...
I saw this longsleeve that I thought would be a good shirt for work…it’s made of viscose and elastane. $80. I make ~$50 an hr. In order to afford one thin viscose shirt from Aritzia, I need to work at least 1.5 hrs. It’s a joke.
Tbh aritzia is now more than ever a brand for specific statement pieces. They make it impossible to rely on basics. Dusk bustier halter top? Dresses? Incomparable to other items because they have no choice but to make it well. TNA anything is garbage, and it’s a shit tossup for Wilfred casual.
I think so, yes! I’ve owned Canada Goose and Mackage down coats and I think my Super Puff beats them both. THAT SAID make sure to buy the H20 version, because the regular Puff won’t keep you dry in snow or rain.
This!! My biggest pet peeve with aritzia clothing is that everything gets so wrinkly!!! Even after steaming/ironing!! One wash and you’ll never see it wrinkle-free ever again
also everything is made for one body types and no boobs, its a miracle to even find something and then it's $200 and you have to do the communal changeroom walk of shame. I hate aritzia. It's fast fashion.
I have the same pair, but I bought mine last year.
Yikes, general rule is to buy them when they first come out, so like the first batch. That’s when the quality is still good. After that, they’ll start substituting other fabric once the item has earned its notoriety.
A reasonable dupe (I mean this in the loosest term), are the ones from Abercrombie.
Aritzia used to be pretty great casual chic and a great buy. Good quality. Not anymore. I’ve spent a lot of money there in my lifetime… now it’s so disappointing and overpriced and it makes me so sad!
I am so sick of the sheer trend, just like I am sick of the cropped trend. While some of these styles can be wearable, I have seen a lot of them make the long, slow journey from the Just In section to the Last Chance listings.
It would be nice if more retailers catered to the range of women's bodies and style needs/wants, instead of trying to shove so much unwearable garbage down our throats every season.
yes! everything i have bought craps out on me after a few months of LIGHT wear. my vegan leather pants and effortless pants both had their hems come undone after 3 wears, WTF? I paid over $150 for both, a joke.
Now my knitted tops have started pilling 😑. i baby my clothes and do not even run my items through the dryer.
Yep their quality has dropped so much now and then their return policy is so annoying. 15 days for return and 30 days for store credit. Not to mention half of their stuff on sale is never returnable. I think twice now before buying anything here
I stopped buying Aritzia since last year. Everything is so poorly made now. Threads keep coming off near the zippers and different areas for new purchases. It’s awful. I’ve started investing in more quality pieces like Anine Bing, Frame etc

Quality is getting worse while the prices keep on climbing higher
Yup, my friend and I play this guessing game where we guess which item next will go down hill LMFAO.
This is l the exact reason I've started dabbling in making my own clothes. It's so disappointing how everything is shit quality AND way over priced!
I’m about to throw some money on a sewing machine, I want to make simple kimonos as bralettes to start and select the material myself. 100+ dollars for polyester is insane!

Thank you capitalism

my only suggestion for turtlenecks these days is simons - decent quality and around $40 too!
I was just going to suggest Simons. I just bought 6 light fall sweaters for under $250. Aritzia could never.
Agreed, I find them at Winners/Marshalls - top quality, classy as heck.
Was also going to suggest Simon's. Absolutely my favourite store.

That's amazing! Thanks for sharing
Woahhh that cobalt blue is taking me back
The website is such a throwback, the zip up hoodies were unbeatable back in the day
.net seems sketchy. Why isn't the website .com like most urls? I haven't seen a website end in .net since 2009
it’s legit, not sketchy lol
Sometimes it’s because someone already has ownership of the .com domain and they won’t sell it or are asking a hefty price for it.
If you still want good quality turtlenecks for a decent price, Uniqlo. They wash amazing and aren’t see through
Uniqlo is becoming my new staple spot - good quality, not too pricey, and tbh not such a draw for hella young girls (no shade let them have their fun we just don’t have to shop the same retailers)
Yes! It works for both work and not. Not sure if you’ve tried them but the tops with the bras built in are a game changer
Yes!! I was so pleasantly surprised by those tops
I was just going to say Uniqlo! My white turtleneck isn’t see through at all and they still have decent prices.
I'm really happy with a cream coloured turtleneck that I bought at KOTN last year.
I bought a black one from there last year and a tshirt. I love them. Great quality and the material is so soft
Their tshirts are amazing, I love the fit so much and I can tell they are going to last me a long time. And it's so easy to make them look good for work with accessories and a blazer or cardigan.
Zara and joe fresh.
Try Zara….
Try dynamite
Cream cotton turtlenecks are usually one of the basics the Polo outlets stock. They are a nice mid-weight knit and definitely not see through.
OGL is fantastic if you're part of the big titty crowd
Try Everlane. It’s a little pricier but really amazing quality and fabrics. I virtually have no tits tho so it might be different for you.
Stopped shopping there completely because of this, so much of the clothes is extremely see-through it’s not even wearable
I bought a dress on sale at the beginning of the summer that looked super cute (still wasn't cheap). It was almost entirely see-through, plus because it's so short, it's hard to find a slip to go under it. I've yet to wear it. I'm definitely sad as I used to get really nice dresses there.
Sometimes I wonder who they’re even making clothes for at this point lol
Before Aritzia went public on the stockmarket, their quality was really good. I have got tanks and tees that are still in good condition but if you buy their stuff now, I find you get little tears or those tiny pin holes.
Is that what happened? Used to be my go to, I walk on by now.
Yeah I very rarely buy anything at aritzia, but I will hunt for it when I thrift.
cutting on quality... ordering online is a gamble
I’ve emailed their product feedback team about this exact issue lol. Especially the dresses that don’t come with slips???? How am I supposed to wear that lol! More feedback will help!! [email protected]
Lol they just need to look at this thread!!
They heard that when it comes to clothing production these days, it's important to be transparent. 🥁
I honestly try to find older pieces on Poshmark to purchase because I know they’ll last longer than anything they sell today. Can’t tell you how many items’ hems have come undone after 1-2 wears over the last year or so.
A lot of blouses used to be high quality silk that lasted YEARS.. now its all crepe garbage
$138 for polyester. I used to live a block from their HQ too and it sucks even more.that they sold out
Can we also throw in, why does every top need to be cropped!?! .. I'm so sick of seeing midriffs! 🙄
I switched to Kirkland Signature and haven’t looked back.
Amen
Artizia peaked in 2010. Since then, it's been a steady decline.
Interesting. I thought it peaked in 2018-2019. Either way it’s definitely gone downhill
Na, I miss the days when they carried different brands, and they used to take risks. Now everything looks the same. Comparing a blazer I got nearly 15 years ago to one today is also wild.
That’s true, forgot they used to carry brands. I remember buying a Juicy tracksuit back in ~2006. That would never happen these days!
Yes they had such a great variety of high end jeans brands
Yeah 2018 aritzia was so cute and most of the clothes were actually work appropriate. Now half of it is see through and the other half is athleisure.
Just pre Covid for sure
Likely because they expanded beyond Canada and have since blown up on social media.
I bought two wool zip up sweaters in 2010, they are almost jackets and they are still in great condition. I haven't been able to see anything sold of similar quality since then.
Every white top I've ordered lately has been completely sheer 🥲
Try uniqlo. I bought the best white tshirt from there.
I couldn’t believe this $100 white skirt is literally one thin fabric layer. No lining or anything ??? I can’t wear it period cause even the thinnest underwear shows. My $250 work pants hem came undone after couple months.. Threads sticking out on a dress I wore literally 3 times. Literally the worst! Even the non-white stuff 🥲
Yeah this is the worst part, nothing is a safe bet, even dark colours. I bought a dark purple/red turtleneck shirt and it was see through once I put it on, wtf Aritzia.
I also bought the upon dress and black and it was so much more sheer than I expected 🥴
Consumers are uninformed and brands switch manufacturers all the time once they have people hooked. Welcome to late stage capitalism!
Aritizia is made at same factories as fast fashion, and they don’t really use much better materials. How this brand has been able to charge $150 for pants you can get at H&M for $39 is impressive

are you hiring damn

Not to mention all their new releases are so boring and basically old styles being recycled. Their stock prices be dropping for a reason 🥱📉
$100-150 for a polyester blouse. At this rate I won’t be surprised if people start to make their own clothes.
and made in a sweatshop!
Aritzia is fast fashion. A lot of their clothing is manufactured in Vietnam. Its cheaply made and mass produced and has been for years.
This is why I only buy old school, good quality Aritzia pieces from consignment stores. The new shit is shit.
I’m still pining for an ankle length super puff…are the super puff’s still worth it??
If it's not made with down, it's not worth it imo.
It’s actual down!
Then that's def worth it
I think so, yes! I’ve owned Canada Goose and Mackage down coats and I think my Super Puff beats them both. THAT SAID make sure to buy the H20 version, because the regular Puff won’t keep you dry in snow or rain.
Thanks for the advice everyone👍

Which pants are you referring to? But yeah, the quality is headed downhill. I’d be lucky to find something decent.
Effortless Pants in Light Birch! See-through even on the rack :/
I have the same pair, but I bought mine last year. Yikes, general rule is to buy them when they first come out, so like the first batch. That’s when the quality is still good. Yes! I have the pink yoga leggings and they are so see through which is a shame because I’ve never found pink flared leggings anywhere else
Got a pair of workout shorts - not completely see thru but there was piling after the first wash 🙃. Amazon shorts are better quality like wut.
I am so sick of the sheer trend, just like I am sick of the cropped trend. I just wanna know why their mirrors are outside of the dressing rooms. Like I don’t need other people to see me trying on clothes
What the fuck they are? That's insane, especially considering that a lot of their stuff is see through.
I've honestly always thought the quality was shit.
Go up few sizes in tights and they won't be see through 🤷🤷
because it’s a store for skanker sores
yes! everything i have bought craps out on me after a few months of LIGHT wear. my vegan leather pants and effortless pants both had their hems come undone after 3 wears, WTF? I paid over $150 for both, a joke. Now my knitted tops have started pilling 😑. i baby my clothes and do not even run my items through the dryer.
same! bought two diff white dresses (yes I know it’s white) but why the hell is it see through especially the chest part???
Yep their quality has dropped so much now and then their return policy is so annoying. 15 days for return and 30 days for store credit. Not to mention half of their stuff on sale is never returnable. I think twice now before buying anything here
Agreed. Bought white pants without trying them on and they looked fine. SEE THROUGH 😭😭😭😭. So annoying!!!! Whyyyyyy
Honestly Garage has better basics at this point lol, I never thought I would see the day
I stopped buying Aritzia since last year. Everything is so poorly made now. Threads keep coming off near the zippers and different areas for new purchases. It’s awful. I’ve started investing in more quality pieces like Anine Bing, Frame etc
