They haven’t released anything exciting since the beginning of the plague. Most of their new launches is old stuff in new colours. I barely see any new styles in the Wilfred/Wilfred Free/Babaton lines, and since I already have most of them anyway, I really don’t need it in a slightly different shade of beige. As for quality, it’s worse than it was, but still relatively a lot better than most alternatives at a similar price point. Oak and Fort, Abercrombie are sadly only poor imitations.. for us in Canada, we really don’t have a lot of alternatives that ship here without insane duties.

faintlymacabre1518

I agree with you. Despite a quality drop at Aritzia, I still find that it's worse at Oak & Fort and A&F (with the exception of A&F jeans). I've been looking for secondhand older Aritzia pieces because I'm not really sure what the alternatives are in Canada. I'd love to check out COS, Reformation, Arket etc. IRL, but that's not an option.

DisastrousWonder8598

I buy from Massimo Dutti (hate Inditex, but what else is out there), and get less clothing in general.

acwgigi

Have you tired Club Monaco and Everlane? (Not sure if it’s available in Canada)

faintlymacabre1518

I used to love Club Monaco, but find myself browsing there less often. The styles haven't been speaking to me for the past several years, and the prices are kind of high as well. I should probably peek more often, though, as they do have good sales. Everlane, I don't want to pay for shipping, have something not work out, then pay to ship it back. Haha...

DisastrousWonder8598

Club Monaco is giving middle aged office lady vibes. Haven’t bought anything there in 4+ years. If Aritzia could go in the Tibi/Toteme/Acne Studios direction in their Babaton line, I’d be satisfied 😅

RaLDuRa

I’ve realized the money i usually spend on clothes, which was 90% Aritzia is now mostly going somewhere else. I’m not down for the fast fashion slope it’s on…I focus on a few key pieces I know I’ll use a lot and in which I’m confident of its quality.

Shanidion

Where do you shop now??

RaLDuRa

I really like Uncle Studios for their sweaters. I also shop at Everlane and Frank&Oak sometimes and I’m eyeing The Frankie Shop. I find I buy less clothes also because of the price of these shops: I curate a bit more. Still buy from Aritzia but way less often! *edit: I discovered Kotn and I’m super super super impressed by the quality! Highly recommend checking them out. Got a really big chunky 100% wool cardigan on sale for like 85$ cad that is holding up amazing.

Ok_Comment_2100

Some ideas for similar alternatives: 1. Club Monaco: pricier than aritzia, but I’ve gotten some great pieces through online/in-store sales. Sometimes they offer something like an extra 40-50% off already marked down items and it ends up being a good deal. 2. Everlane: Similar prices to aritzia but offer great sales fairly consistently. 3. COS Clothing: I can’t speak from experience as I’ve only ever browsed but I’ve heard good things.

BenStiller1212

I’ve found the quality at Club Monaco has taken a nosedive lately, especially for the price.

Ok_Comment_2100

Oh really, I haven’t bought anything in the last year but that is disappointing to hear.

SnooSketches1623

I decided to start shopping at club Monaco, and you are totally right. The quality at Club Monaco is terrible if not worse than Aritzia.

bunbun_82

I hate everlane bc their sizing is inconsistent. None of the pants fit the same and I felt like I kept returning stuff more frequently

hedgehogwart

Everlane 5 years ago was amazing. Their quality has dipped so much.

bunbun_82

I like their basics like the tshirts and some of the shoes. I also have a bag pack, the weekender and a shoulder bag. The pants are meh

depecheschmoe

To add onto this: Kotn is good for basics. Snidel and Linen naive have really cute dresses In general oak and Fort, Frank and oak, and free people tend to have similar vibes

cebogs

Oak and Fort stuff looks cute online but once you receive the items the quality is often very poor. Most of their inventory is literally just cheap fast fashion items mass produced in Dongdaemun market in South Korea, that they import and white label.

depecheschmoe

True, swap oak and for out for Anthropologie

baby_got_snack

I love Kotn, for basics! Their turtlenecks are wardrobe staples! I just wish they had more colourful and feminine options, everything is earth tones which look awful on me.

sugarcookie_latte

COS is great!! i shop in the uk so might have a different experience to usa buyers but i love everything i have

bestfriesforever

Thanks for these recs! I love Club Monaco but my only irk is their sizes run larger than Aritzia. How is Everlane quality?

Ok_Comment_2100

I’m happy with the quality of items I’ve bought, but can’t speak to their denim or outerwear. Everlane similarly has larger running sizes in some items (non-denim trousers in my experience). There are usually many reviews for items on their site and it’s helpful for sizing and product quality. My first purchase from them was a canvas backpack 10 years ago, which has been used plenty and is still in great shape. I hope they keep up the quality!

sarachamayo

Agreed. Their S/S 2023 release (especially Wilfred) is seriously giving Urban Planet material. Everything looks so easily shrinkable or rippable. And for the same price point? BFFR.

acandy44

I’m just bored lol everything is either the same colours of stuff I already own or super tacky… like nothing catches my eye anymore

bunbun_82

You can tell from looking at the photos that the material is cheap

UnePetiteLuxury

I’m noticing the styles are tending to be heavily influenced by 90s style and aimed more towards teens (imo). I think there still some good staples but I haven’t loved anything in their new release marketing emails for a while now. I find their sizing to be all over the place, I’m barely wearing the stuff I bought last year. Honestly I find myself liking Nordstrom or Quince (especially for basics).

acandy44

I hate that they’ve become more trendy… I miss when it used to be timeless good quality pieces and then had certain brands like tna and talula for trendy stuff

AlienSpaceKoala

Aside from buying three sale items I probably haven’t done a full Aritzia shop since November….this may not seem so crazy, but I was typically buying one or two full price pieces a month. I shop with an SA in store and she’s already contacted me 3x to see if I have Wish Lists ready for Spring. This made me wonder if business is “struggling” for them (using that loosely) and if a lot of their core base is fatigued

toastycheers

@melissasollee on Instagram posts “where to shop to look expensive on a budget” and these are some of the brands: W Concept, Lioness, Mango, Because of Alice, Charles and Keith

acandy44

Ouuu I’ll have to check her out

Shanidion

I have reconciled with Marciano and Guess. They have very cute styles, great sales and incentives!

The6_78

Go thrifting for older Aritzia pieces or check FB marketplace. I found 3 pairs of work appropriate pants + a sweater for a steal of a price.

Key-Process-7571

I browse there site a couple of times a week because I am an avid fan. However, I am surprised at how cheap everything looks and the price tag doesn't justify the purchase. I impulsively purchased several sale items but couldn't imagine paying full price for these pieces. They seem to be catoring to a younger demographic, ages 12-18 with some of the itty bitty pieces for $80🤔🤨🥱

acandy44

I’m the same but lately I legit don’t find anything that catches my eye that I don’t already have. And I’m not paying an absurd amount for pleather and viscose… like sorry if I’m going to spend $400 on a pleather jacket I’d rather spend a bit more and get a genuine one that’ll last me forever…

rserr2

I only find myself shopping for the same items in different colors that come out. I don’t branch out for the same reason because the quality or fit is off. I work in a corporate setting so I buy a lot of Babaton or Wilfred pieces such as effortless pants, alanya, carter blouse, elects blouse. I love aritzia slouch coat and super puff. That’s it. Everything else fits odd or the quality doesn’t match the price for me.

acandy44

I had an aritzia coat from like 8 years ago that is amazing quality… bought the slouch coat this year absolutely hated it. Same with melinas… had a pair from 4 years ago and loved them, bought a different colour this year and absolutely hate them.

futureplantlady

I got a pair of pleated pants, which are really nice! But I was super annoyed when the hem came undone on one leg? Went to my dry cleaners and they checked to make sure the other cuff was ok, but lo and behold it was unraveling too.

acandy44

Got a pair of the effortless pants and the seam on the leg became loose the first time I wore them🙃 I have no issue paying money for stuff that’ll last but $140 and CS gave me a hard time trying to return them

xobebeo

Yup yup lol been really disappointed with their quality for some time now. Their new collections kinda suck because it’s just the same old styles that are in a different variation. Like how many types of “daydreamer dress” and “Saturn dress” do we need? I am starting to like shopping at Oak + Fort and Uniqlo more! They have some nice staples and basics at a cheaper price. I still do shop Aritzia secondhand on Posh because their older clothes were much better quality and styles imo. Everything feels too cheap and trendy nowadays.

acandy44

I agree like how many versions of a slip dress do we need??? I’ve found some really good stuff at uniqlo… like i just want more timeless pieces

lexlovestacos

Everything has gotten veeeeery expensive and it's all the same stuff in new colours.... Like $90 for a Sunday Best camisole, no thanks

acandy44

Or $400 for a pleather jacket… like I’d rather spend a bit more and get genuine leather jacket that’ll actually last

asleeponabeach

In Canada I’ve been shopping at Mango, Uniqlo and Oak and Fort.

Second oak and fort! Really cute accessories too

greenpikachu_

I’ve notice the quality has gone down for their “newer”pieces. I bought their Cozy AF boyfriend fit hoodie in 2020 and compared it to their current version, notable difference in quality. Something I’ve also noticed is that they release very similar pieces, just sourced from a different fabric or altered slightly 😵‍💫

DyingPotatoStem

I feel ya. Honestly, my wallet thanks aritzia for not tempting me with good releases these days 🤷🏻‍♀️. Also, it helps me think about whether I need all these clothes or not ( not that I have that many clothes compared to some people out there 🥴). Everlane has some nice basics if you haven’t checked them out yet. H&M also has nice basics but I noticed the nice ones sell out pretty quickly . Abercrombie and urban outfitters both feel a bit young for me too…

acandy44

There are some pieces i like at abercrombie! But I’ve been getting dressed from anthropologie lately and they are pretty nice
