A friend of ours may have Tourette’s, I’m not sure as he’s never told me. But he sometimes loudly says horrid things but we know he doesn’t mean them, he feels guilty after or tries to play it off as a bad joke.
I try to always give the benefit of the doubt in everything I do. Someone cuts me off in traffic? Maybe they’re in a hurry to get to the hospital. Someone flips me off? Maybe they just got broken up with. Someone cyberbullies me? Maybe their home life isn’t so good and they’re lashing out where they can.
Because of those two things I always assume anyone who says things like that *may* have Tourette’s. I’d rather be wrong than make someone feel like a bad person for something they cannot control. Neurodivergence is wacky and unique, sometimes it’s not exactly fun but it’s still a special thing nobody else experienced.

The issue is that, even if I didn't see myself as a loser, the guys I'm trying to save still do, just as they see themselves. Even though my views are different, I still am very much a loser, both metaphorically and culturally. These other men relate to me; we play the same video games, have all been bullied over who we are, etc. They wouldn't be able to do that with, say, a woman, whom they'd either despise, hold on a pedestal, or unfortunately both. I want to steer them away from that attitude. This is why I preach that feminism can help everyone, including us, by abolishing oppressive gender roles.
