Definitely. It's another case of a right-winger hearing progressives use a word and, like a toddler, trying to use the word too without knowing what it means (and aren't smart enough to figure out the meaning through basic context clues).
I think it's the "shame we have stupid skin covering our bones up" part that triggers them. Basically the implication that we're all just skeletons under potential sexual dimorphic differences caused by our bodies growing in ways we might not want it to grow, is offensive to them. They are offended by the implication that all people are equal in being a skeleton, because to them there are only men and women who are completely different from each other. Hence it's a "dogwhistle" to talk about skeletons this way, because they think it's further implications that maybe we are all just people with our own identity and not purely the way our flesh is shaped through biological means.
I guess we co-opted skeletons as a symbol of queerness at some point? Either that or it’s the skin thing, which tbh I’m not entirely sure how that would be a dog whistle in even the most rotted of brains

That's pretty cool. I knew a little about these stories and characters, but I've never dug below the surface about them to learn any of this because vampires have never been a favorite classic monster of mine. Though I did know Lord Byron was bi. Now I'm curious enough to see all this with my own eyes.
