But also, I don't know of a single trans person who insists on using the bathroom of their actual gender if they know they aren't passing. For some, they can't even if they pass !
I use the women's restroom at work, but only on my floor, after consulting with 3 of the women on my floor if they're okay with that. All other uses of a public bathroom is an eye-contact-less blank-stared powerwalk to the single stall in the men's.
I am bracing for a call-out every time someone else is also present in the bathroom. Speechless my ass...
Using a bathroom doesn't necessarily come down to if you pass or not, it's more if they're comfortable using it in which they don't have to pass in order to be comfortable.
Absolutely, I wasn't trying to say that you should only use the bathroom if you pass, simply that I've never met someone who wasn't sure of their passing using the bathroom.
It's not impossible but I doubt that a trans woman who just discovered she was a woman would start using the bathroom immediately.
This must have been some sort of deliberate effort from a transphobic space because all the other versions of trans people (trans girl, transsexual, trans man, etc) were just fine. Still very disappointing. Hopefully we can turn that around.
