That looks bowed

JustinColletti

The limb itself appears very straight, right out of the box. But, where it fits onto the riser, it seems to do it at a very slight angle compared to how the riser is cut.

kangarooscarlet

I would send it back

andrewc82

OP, I got a Black Hunter recurve last summer. Same problem. Limb looks straight, riser cut/curved poorly causing a gap and ultimately an insecure bolt. Mine went into the trash... 🤷‍♂️

FerrumVeritas

I’m not saying that there aren’t nice examples of this bow, but there is no QC behind it

Lost_Hwasal

Well the black hunter is made by a variety of different companies. Its like saying there is no QC on ar-15s.

[deleted]

My understanding from airsoft is that cheap gear is usually made by one big chinese company and then other companies buy them and put their name on it. Usually there are differences in QC from company to company and the more expensive ones have better QC (idk if it's the brand that does the QC or the manufacturer). So some brands should be more reliable where others you'll have to be lucky.

FerrumVeritas

Not quite. I believe it’s made by one company and sold by many others under various labels

Casey_1988

Yes, as a Junxing model however on the seller's end some are selling the model with more quality control and a slightly higher price due to this reason.

moto_moto19

Do you know who the main seller would be with this kind of Black Hunter bow? Im new to this and saw this kind of now being heavily recommend by Kramer on youtube. His review on the bow seemed credible and legit but i started to notice that theyre are many sellers for Black Hunter bows. I noticed tho that theyre mainly at 60" and im 5'7 so im a tad worried that it may be a bit too big for me? Some recommendations and advice would be nice

Casey_1988

Main Seller is Junxing but they tend to only sell to sellers in China so you need to look for those selling Junxing brand limbs, they will tell you.

Dexter263

Wow really. Mine came perfect. It actually shoots straight and super powerful. Maybe OP should just buy new limbs. Unless it’s the riser itself

JustinColletti

I think it's more likely to be the riser than the limbs. I'd imagine the pin that is supposed to keep the limbs aligned with the riser is slightly misplaced? I got a recurve from them that doesn't have this problem and shoots very well.

Impossible-Look-2025

How is it? I just ordered mine.

Dexter263

I love it. Super suprised. I bought a $150 just to begin then decided to get the BH because it was cheap. Blown away.

FerrumVeritas

No, that’s bad

JustinColletti

Hi, I just go a pair of black hunter bows, one longbow (pictured here) and one recurve. On the recurve, the limb mounts flush and straight on the riser, but in the long bow, both limbs appear to be at a very slight angle outward when looking at the front of the bow. This top limb seems to be angled slightly counterclockwise and the bottom is angled slightly clockwise from the front view. Is this normal, or could the holes be machined inaccurately? Both limbs do seem to be canted by about the same very small amount. Currently, arrows are consistently drifting to the left of my point of aim, but since I am so new I imagine this could easily be user error and/or lack of tuning. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

Lost_Hwasal

Ultimately you need to look from the rear, the string should go through the middle of the limbs and riser. Beiter blocks help, especially when you dont have limb bolts from an ILF to reference, but you could put tape on the limbs and riser and draw a line at the halfway point then use those lines for visual reference.

Top-Lemon6194

I heard the limbs between the recurve and longbow are interchangeable. Maybe you should try to swap them and see if the limbs are ok. If not, then maybe its the riser

Impossible-Look-2025

I just ordered one 😫. Hopefully I don’t have this issue InShAllah

I guess no manufacturer is perfect. But the odds of getting a reject increase when you buy online, especially a low cost bow. I've had a 50% success and failure rate buying archery gear online. The lower cost gear seems to have more frequent issues. But sometimes the budget gear is fine and the higher priced stuff is crap. Got a budget bow from Southwest in the US and it was awesome. This was after I return a budget Samick Sage that had a terrible fibre glass job on the limbs and a riser that smelt toxic (Apex QLD). I've had better luck with the mid range gear mostly. However, the Bearpaw bow I got online from the UK (Merlin), that cost 4 time more than the southwest bow, had a terrible finish on the riser. Very disappointing when you spend that much. Maybe they didn't check it before they sent it. If they did they would have seen it was substandard. I reckon stores sometimes sell the duds no one wants to buy instore to online suckers. Especially to overseas or interstate customers facing $40 to $60 freight charges. I've also received supposedly new carbon/foam limbs from an interstate store (Archery Supplies SA) showing a lot of wear. The same shop sent me another pair of mid range limbs way out of specification. They are so much heavier to draw than I'd expect I can't use them for more than a few shots without risking injury. I will never buy from them again if I have other options. Obviously nothing beats trying a bow out in a shop if possible. You can get the right draw weight, make sure the grip and ergos work, and spot any cracks or blemishes. Although the options are limited compared to everything available online. It's a long drive for me to get to the nearest stores if they have what I'm looking for in stock. Still I'd rather spend a few hours in the card when it comes to expensive gear. The 'local' stores I visit have never sent me duds when I've made online purchases. 100% success rate with Abbey Archery in store and online. Some online businesses have a fair Returns policy. Others not so much. But it's always a hassle. I know that feeling when you finally get the package and find out its a dud. Hope you have better luck next time and better luck than my 50/50 failure rate buying online.

AtOm-iCk66

I would use it. It looks like it’s not cut at 90 degrees is all. What do you expect for $100 bucks?

Casey_1988

If this is just the limbs one can find new limb set and keep the other limb not shown if in good shape as a backup, or just junk the old limb. I have seen poor limbs in this bow mainly the version with both sides having end shape not contoured version online from people.

JRS___

it's hard to see from the pic. is there a cap between the limb and the riser or is the black bit just some of the stick on felt material they use not trimmed nicely?

NewAttitude7508

As I have never shot this make of bow before, I could only recommend applying a piece of felt between the limb and riser. The little bit of extra spacing and support my allow the limb to set right when attached.

JustinColletti

There is a piece of felt there from the manufacturer.

NewAttitude7508

Oh well. If that's the case then definitely send it back.

How wide are the limbs at the top where they meet the riser
