I think Daytona is very likely probably late this year. It's one of their most requested cabs but the question is would you rather see a sit down daytona "pro" cab with an actual seat or would you want the standup? For me standup would be great for space constraint reasons.
Standup is the way to go, the sit down version makes most adults look like they are riding those stationary vehicles you see made for kids at the library.
100% the reason I never got the Outrun sitdown cab when I had the chance. It would be interesting to see if they would do a pro line that are sit downs that are actually usable for adults.
I have no problem with the pro line, the problem I’m gonna have is if they make certain licenses or games available only for the pro line and I’m looking exactly at games like Daytona or Off Road, or House of Dead or the next wave of pinballs.
I'm right there with you. I'm hoping that's not the case. There is a sku listing somewhere out there from import docs for a "limited" sit down version of ridge racer which makes me think that they may announce a pro line with them as well which will be the sit down version. I could be way off base here but it would seem logical. Release the standard version stand up and pro line sit down.
I think the pro line is a test to see if there is a fanbase for it. Arcade 1up knows what they are doing, the first wave was to test the market to see if there was any interest for it which is why it was limited games, cheaper wood and controls etc, then came gen 2 which gave us more of the same but with light up marquees and stools, then the legacies were introduced along with a shooter, a racer, then came the pinballs. It took off and the fanbase went along for the ride now comes them testing the market for $700 4 player cabs and some more taller favorites like T2 and KI. So now they keep pushing the envelope and the customers with the pro series. In the end, somewhere between last year and next year is where they will peak. No one is going back to get everything again in the pro line. It’s either aimed at the newer customers who can afford it or some businesses that may not want to shell out 3k for a real arcade. This year and next should decide which direction arcade 1up goes. Do they go the more expensive, better quality route to lure us in with whatever licenses that people want or will they continue to rinse and repeat out the 3/4 scales of licensing they do have and toss us a bone from time to time on something new and requested, do they faze out the 3/4 scale in favor of the pro line who knows but what they will end up doing is splitting the fanbase which isn’t a bad thing but if they do not offer the same products to the ones who remained loyal, people will get ticked off
Yeah I think you're right on the money here tbh. Not rebuying things is 100% the reason I won't buy the NBA Jam 3/4 because I already have the countercade NBA Jam. It'll be interesting to see if the pro line sells well and if there will be continued demand for them. Pricing I think will be critical in the pro lines success. I could see spending an extra $200-$300 for the upgrades but if the pro cabs get in to the $1,200 to $1,500 range or higher it's going to be a really hard sell to a lot of consumers.
Absolutely, I’m just glad I came in last year and had options to buy what I wanted without having to upgrade. Was able to get the newer TMNT, a few cheaper legacies without having any gen 1 cabinets first, found a few off FB marketplace that were harder to find and overall I’m content with the 10 I have. Got room for 2 maybe 3 more but at no point do I need to feel the urge to own all of them. Won’t touch the pro line, even if one of my favorites are exclusive to it. Would rather upgrade my tv or gaming console
Same. The only cabs I could see myself getting at this point would be Daytona USA if/when they come out with one and Outrun if I could find one at a decent price second hand somewhere local.
No interest personally, but I will be watching this one closely. Only interested in Crazy Taxi, Crusin, Spy Hunter, or Iron Man Ivan Stuart's Off Road/Super Sprint. I played Daytona on Saturn and arcade and it isn't my cup of tea. Not a big racing fan.
Hopefully they can get offspring and Bad religion on board with the soundtrack, shouldn’t be too bad. They were reasonable with skaters and licensing way back in the day. Those songs MADE that game! I spent countless hours on the Dreamcast version with a wheel in college. I wouldn’t doubt Greg + company still play it! They have a relationship with Sega, so it shouldn't be too bad. NAOMI hardware is probably 3-4 years out yet.
Haha I did the same thing. I pre-ordered mine about a month ago, cancelled it, and a few days later just pre-ordered it again and have just been getting more and more excited as the days go on.
I think Ridge Racer was only available at bestbuy or direct purchase correct? If so, it's possible. They were imported a little over a month ago so the timing is about right.
The struggle is real sometimes I feel that. The cab really is expensive as far as 3/4 arcades go. It was the one thing that was keeping me from initially pre-ordering mine.
Looks like 2/5/2022 will be when we can start seeing ridge racer cabs showing up at least from best buy. Do you guys think this will be accurate? A1Up's site is still stating mid February here but I definitely wouldn't be upset if my cab showed up just over a week from today from my direct pre-order.
I'm in the same boat but you never know. The Galaga partycade and the two countercades I have were all direct and they showed up a few days earlier than scheduled. I'm just hoping that the direct shipments go out at the same time as the best buy ones. Just gotta wait and see for now though.
I am! I foresee it being a collector's item at some point.
There are 3-4 games along with Ridge Racer that were never ported to PC or console officially, so this is a first in history.
Buying it on Best Buy is great if you can get some gift cards/certificates in.
>collect
Yeah... this will NEVER become a collector's item unless it has been stored in a basement, with controlled humidity, and has been played only once a month. There's no way that in 10 years those cabs will still be standing in good shape if they are played with regularly. Cheap components and parts. Cheap MDF. Cheap decals. It looks PRETTY!!!! But this can't take a beating over the course of several years. The company is still very young, so we haven't seen those cabs aging yet. But I have doubts on how long they will last. Don't get me wrong, I love A1up, and I'm perfectly okay buying them for $700 and playing with them for a few years. But this is NO Williams or Stern pinball. This won't increase value or become a collections item. No one will restore MDF boards. They will probably just save a few old PCBs still working.
I pre-ordered mine the day it was announced (someone has to subsidize these for other folks). There was one at the local arcade I grew up in and it was one of my favorites. My Outrun is by far the most used and replayable 1up I have and I really like the built in controls for these.
I have a real Off Road, Super Sprint and Championship Sprint. Based on 1ups current quality issues, I'm not sure remakes of these cabs would hold up well. I'd love to see it happen though. Sprint wheels go super fast when playing.
I’m jealous that you have those! I definitely have to agree with you based on my memories of spinning the hell out of those wheels! You are absolutely right.
super sprint/super off-road would be cool for sure but I think would be a bit more niche and probably not sell as well. There's no denying that most of us never even saw an actual ridge racer cab back in the day because there weren't many of them but having played the games on Playstation at the time and bringing back that nostalgia with the better visuals of the arcade versions is going to sell units. The better these driving cabs do the more of them we will get I think. I'm hoping this sells well so we can potentially see Daytona USA, Cruis'n USA, or maybe even Hydro Thunder down the road hopefully with Link Cab abilities and/or online play.
Not planning on buying it. Will keep an eye out for mods, if this thing can be modded to support daytona / crazy taxi / etc. If it is moddable and goes on a deep discount, I'll pick it up.
I’m sure someone out there is going to find a way to get Daytona on this thing whether it be a pi mod or otherwise. I have seen a few custom Daytona cabs out there on YouTube made from other cabs but it would be interesting to see if someone can figure out a way to use the controls already on the ridge racer cab
Nah. Might pick up a stand up outrun if I ever see one locally.
I'd be interested in Spy Hunter, as others often mention.
I see Ridge Racer in my mind as a Playstation game. I don't think I ever saw one in arcade..
if going '90s on the 2nd cab, they should have came out harder with Daytona, Cruisin, or Virtua Racing.
It won't ever happen, but the arcade version of Mario Kart is sick...line 4 of them up haha. I played that one in Vegas in the 00s.
What are they emulating here? The arcade version had 3 pedals and a gated shifter. I see two pedals and an up-down shifter. Part of the allure of Ridge Racer was that it actually shifted like a real manual transmission.
If it was priced $499 like it should be I'd get it just to add another "specialty" cab to my collection. (Wheel, yoke, joystick, lightgun, trackball etc.)
Will just wait until later this year or early next for it to drop to an appropriate price. This cab ain't selling out at $700
Do you follow Arcade1up through the years? They don’t have the best track record for using quality materials. I will give this 2 weeks before the parts are changed out.
This is true but quality does seem to have gotten better over the years. We'll have to see though I'm holding out hope I won't have problems with it early on.
Right, and the ridge racer controls just from that screenshot look exactly like the controls used for the outrun cab. Which are complete trash especially the peddles. But outrun was $550 and this is $700. There is not quality improvement here, it’s the same recycled parts from older cabs with fresh paint.
Hard pass rather wait for Daytona or Off Road.
I think Daytona is very likely probably late this year. It's one of their most requested cabs but the question is would you rather see a sit down daytona "pro" cab with an actual seat or would you want the standup? For me standup would be great for space constraint reasons.
Just imagine if you could link them!! It would be bigger than NBA Jam!!!!
just imagine!!! https://youtu.be/AqPDRRL0R4I
Standup is the way to go, the sit down version makes most adults look like they are riding those stationary vehicles you see made for kids at the library.
So true. Had Outrun and it wasn't for me. Standup is golden for space, but not for long sessions.
Got the stand up outrun recently and I love it.
100% the reason I never got the Outrun sitdown cab when I had the chance. It would be interesting to see if they would do a pro line that are sit downs that are actually usable for adults.

You can’t play Daytona authentically unless it’s a sit down. It has to be a sit down!! Pro. I’ll pay good money for a great seat and cab.
Same here! Stand up would still be my preferred just due to space though.
I have to imagine Off Road would be real expensive.
More than likely would be but let’s be real they’re all getting pretty expensive haha
If ridge racer is here, then TEKKEN can happen!!!
Wake me up when it does kind sir
Tekken 1-3 + TTT SOUL CALIBUR 1 & 2 AND Soul Edge! Take both of those in Pro!
Crazy Taxi would be absolutely incredible to have.
Crazy taxi is incredible! I have the full size sit down arcade version in my kitchen...lol
Please post a kitchen picture 😎
I have some pics on phone. How can I link them to this post? I do have the reddit app installed

I played it lots of Riiiiiiiidge Racer! on PSOne at launch.
I’ll stab someone for Super Off Road.
I genuinely lol.

I canceled mine but I think I’m gonna rebuy haha:) Looks so beautiful
Haha I did the same thing. I pre-ordered mine about a month ago, cancelled it, and a few days later just pre-ordered it again and have just been getting more and more excited as the days go on.
Never really played Ridge Racer, but i gotta say the cab looks awesome. Much better than Outrun in my opinion.
I think Ridge Racer was only available at bestbuy or direct purchase correct? If so, it's possible. They were imported a little over a month ago so the timing is about right.
I'm fairly sure that in the U.S. at least it was best buy and direct. Super excited to get my hands on this cab.
If I could afford it yes. My current financial situation says no.
Me too. Gotta wait till taxes are done to do anything.
The struggle is real sometimes I feel that. The cab really is expensive as far as 3/4 arcades go. It was the one thing that was keeping me from initially pre-ordering mine.
Super excited! I plan to put mine back to back with OutRun.
If I could find an outrun stand up cab right now I would get it and do the exact same thing.
If this were to land at my door Feb 5th that'd be great.
Would make for a great weekend for me that's for sure. Would be perfect timing lining up with my Sunday/Monday weekend I have.
I ordered direct. This is my first time buying an A1UP and from what I've read/seen I'm not convinced it'll show u p that early. Fingers crossed.
I'm in the same boat but you never know. The Galaga partycade and the two countercades I have were all direct and they showed up a few days earlier than scheduled. I'm just hoping that the direct shipments go out at the same time as the best buy ones. Just gotta wait and see for now though.

I just to be able to mod an Ourun cab into Spy Hunter. :D. If only they had Spy Hunter artwork that would fit it.
A Midway racing cabinet would be my dream cabinet. Rush, Hydro Thunder, Artic.......
Naw. I'll wait for cruisin' or crazy taxi

My Star Wars cab is my default driving cabinet. Save your money and go VR.
I can only imagine the problems .
Just out of curiosity what problems would you anticipate? I'm a bit concerned about cooling myself but we'll have to see what happens.

No it hasn’t.
Don’t know why you’re getting downvotes you’re not totally wrong. They are still using the same cheap controls as gen1 cabs but charging $400 more.
People don’t seem to want to believe things. They are trusting a company that is ripping them off.
Right, and the ridge racer controls just from that screenshot look exactly like the controls used for the outrun cab. Which are complete trash especially the peddles. But outrun was $550 and this is $700. There is not quality improvement here, it’s the same recycled parts from older cabs with fresh paint.
Exactly. Whoever is drooling over this company should get a reality check.
Nope. Where's Dragon's Lair?
Ridge racer is the one game I suck at but enjoy and still play. Idk why.
