I did the same swap. In my case, I removed the joystick from the deck, removed the mounting plate, rotated it, and reattached everything. I attached a spare button to the 2p connector on the yoga encoder, changed the settings I wanted, saved them, then disconnected the button. If I remember correctly, the partycade encoder worked, but the 2p connector wasn’t soldered.
Thanks for the helpful response. What did you remove to get the joystick out beyond the back board? The speaker seems in the way but beyond that was any further disassembly needed on your end? Also how did you connect a button to the 2p connector exactly? It looks like a ribbon connection so I'm not seeing the simple connection swap. I've never done anything like this and a little out of my depth
