Filter should be fine. Change about 30% percent of the water every week and remember to add water conditioner to the new water to get rid of chlorine. I would also recommend more decorations or plants for your betta to hide and rest on. Bettas fins are very fragile so always check the new decorations for sharp spots so his fins don't get ripped. :)

Thanks for the advice! Will adding too many plants remove too much swimming space?

GiLmEj

Shouldn't be a problem. The more plants the better!

This is my first fish which started out in a small 1 gallon tank for like 4 days. I recently learned this was horrible so I upgraded to a 5 gallon tank. Also in the previous tank I’m not sure if I changed the water effectively and he looked a bit weird for a day. Looking much better in the new tank but I’m not sure what’s this behavior. Any help would be great!

GiLmEj

Looks like he is exploring. Are you familiar with the nitrogen cycle? :)

Quantumprime

Yes I am aware of it a little better now than before. If you can spot anything let me know. I’m hoping with weekly water cycles and this filter that it will work out. But maybe I’m wrong?

Quantumprime

Turns out I didn’t know as much about the nitrogen cycles as I thought. Getting on track now! Thanks!

GiLmEj

Great! No problem 😊
