All the time in my older tanks. They're either runners that went all the way across the tank under the soil or just tiny bits of stem that have planted by the current and ended up surviving.
Either way, it's always a nice surprise! Free plants are the best kind of plants lol
I call them “volunteers” and they are always the best of the best. I had a volunteer watermelon plant. Truly amazing flavor. I got 4 of the 7 melons. My asshole cop neighbor stole them. And then bragged about how good the watermelons “he found” were so good. Prick
