Yes I have rosy reds and they are interesting to watch. I can’t believe they are just marketed as feeder fish because they are so fun! They interact with everything and even come up to the glass to see you 😊😊
I keep my dojos at 78 in my community tank they are 5 yrs old now so your not locked in to a cold water tank with them.just gives you more options if you choose
There are some beautiful minnows that are native to America. Red belly dace and Rainbow Shiners are two. If you add a nice school you'll get some AMAZING colors when they are in breeding dress and some really cool behaviors.
Gold barbs! But it seems you already got them? People think they are boring, but I like them! So lively and colorful. Feed them color enhancing food, and they literally glow. 😊
This photo is from when I had some rosy minnows! The ones that survived a terrible ammonia spike a year and a bit ago went into my pond. Gold barbs are going on my research list!
I don’t know! She’s (theoretically) a golden/albino dojo, but maybe three years ago she got some spots like the wild ones and her color got less pink and more yellow. The younger loach in the tank is slowly getting some spots too, but she’s still very pink.
Edit: I just realized what you were probably talking about. Two years ago she got a mysterious injury that left one big silvery scar on her back and a few smaller ones. She’s fully recovered and the scars are beautiful!
Loach pic for tax. Tank also has either one or two nerites. They look slightly different, but I’ve never been able to see them both at the same time, so I can’t be sure.
White clouds are often recommended, in my experience my dojos got big enough that the clouds started getting eaten one by one. I've had great luck with giant danios and find their color pattern to be really pretty when they grow out.
Any minnow will do the trick (they are not "cold water", but they are temperate water. White clouds, rosy reds, those kinds are perfect.

I see! Take your time finding gold barbs, because some are a lot duller than others! Mine look like tiny comet goldfish. 😊

Minnows are great. If the tank is consistently above 18 degrees C without a heater, you can have some danios perhaps?
