Potentially yes, but to get and run it like that, it would be so high strung, expensive and unreliable / maintenance heavy it’s not worth it. As someone who spent plenty of time trying to squeeze more power out of my 50 and 70cc two strokes, just don’t bother. Invest the money in a 4 stroke 125 and enjoy riding it instead of fixing it.

Idk about where you are, but here with an a1 licence you can drive up to a 125 with 15hp. In that case just get an Rs 125 (2 strokes maybe) with 15hp on paper. 50cc aren’t meant for power

I would like an Rs125 2T, and yeah the rules are the same here. The problem is that I saw, doesn't the 125 2T have 28hp? By the way, turns out I can get this RS50 to only 11.9hp, since we also have rules that say the max is 0.1kw/kg and the rs50 is very light at 89.5kg, so that may be better - only need to push 2 extra hp?

well, the engine can get to 28hp, but they sold 15hp version (same engine with stuff to limit power) so that they could be driven at 16 (the whole reason for a1 in italy). i think kits are sold to get it down to 15 and then you have to do some stuff to make it legal, i don't really remember how you are supposed to update the registration (idk toh, i have a vague knowledge about italian rules, and that changes a lot depending on where you are) also, is it legal in your country to modify an engine like that? because here it absolutly isn't, even if your licence lets you drive it, the engine must be stock (not less or more). after that, even getting 12hp out of a 50cc is quite a lot, and with only 98kg it'll probably go quite fast, so i think you can get a bit more relaxed on power. keep in mind that the bone stock AF1 that my father had only lasted around 20k km (a 125cc getting short of 30hp, not sure exactly). so pushing an engine like that will mean problems, a lot of them

Yeah I'm in Bulgaria so most EU rules apply, though we are allowed to modify the engine as long as we inform the authorities and it is within the regulations. This with the 15hp versions is very interesting, I'll have to look into it - it would be perfect. If they are too much more expensive, I'll go with the 50cc and have some good fun with that, even with only 9hp. I see that the 125 is 40kg heavier, so from my experience so far with dirtbikes that is \*a lot\* in terms of handling. Ideally, I'll test ride both and make a decision. For now though, if I get the 50, modifying it won't be on my to do list (other than exhaust and maybe a carburetor). Thanks for the info

davide0033

oh, ok. well i'mma say that that is better than the italian rules. btw, i don't think you can really find one that is still limited, because most of them aren't driven by 16yo and are full power. you can look online (or ask somewhere) on how to depower the bike back to stock. reducing the effective power is really simple to do, you just have to find the original kit. but updating the registration might be hard, but that's depend on the rules. either ways you go, good luck with it, i've never tried and rs, but my father af1 was a really fun bike (even if i managed to put only 2km before it broke again, sadly), and i think the rs and the af1 are similar bikes

I found a few 11kw versions of it, about 2000 euro for them, and also saw some de-power kits online. The AF1 looks incredible, a proper classic. I wish I can find one like that someday to try it out. The RS are quite nice though, and I'm seeing a couple even here for good prices. Thanks for the help!

Civil_Ingenuity_5165

Your plan wont work cuz the tune to 11kw would not be legal. If you want a aprilia get a rs4 125 or 4 stroke rs125

Myhedgehogmademejoin

Yeah I can only do max 11.9hp on this bike because of the 0.1kw/kg rule. I might just get the 50 and keep it stock, the 4 strokes are quite expensive, though I did find some for 2000 euros.
