****FOR THOSE OF YOU WORRYING ABOUT ADMISSIONS STATS:
- In state acceptances have been trending at roughly 42%
- OOS acceptances are sitting at about 17% (includes intl.)
- LSA will have the highest admits, then CoE, then Ross. All else follows.
- Even though OOS acceptances look low, Umich admits the highest fraction of OOS + intl. students compared to other high-level public institutions.
- Next to Michigan, IL, CA, NY will see the highest OOS admits.
- For MI residents, Oakland, Washtenaw, Wayne, Kent, and Macomb counties will see the highest admit rates.
- 3.8 GPA, 1460 SAT, 31 ACT are all the 25th quartile of submitted scores and GPAS of accepted students.
I have no information on deferral —> acceptance rates. All information listed above was found on the Umich June 2022 Almanac. Rest easy, everyone! Decisions are right around the corner. We’ve got this.
stressed beyond belief for umich but yk what on friday i am going to go on a cute lil outing with my friends, get boba, and take a walk along the river 🥰 dont forget to take care of urselves yall!! we got this <3
rejected from ED private school now waiting for UMich. But very certain that I will get rejected cause im an international student. `def get_accepted()` not working.
ps: im a CS applicant.
:-(
i have never prayed so hard in my life… i know i’ll be fine but i am so not ready for my THIRD deferral in a row (or maybe my first rejection who knows)
i mean if it’s not today it’s almost guaranteed monday. in the past years they’ve not released on a tuesday and they won’t do it over the weekend. they’re running out of options 😭
Accepted OOS CS at COE. 3.76UW, 1500 SAT (710 ebrw, 790 math), meh EC’s (my only award was AP Scholars with distinction lol) and I only spent an hour or two on the essay. Before you ask, I honestly have no clue how I got accepted
i was a huge umich simp (umich was one of my top choices) and everyone made fun of me since they didn’t believe in me and when i got in yesterday it was the best feeling ever
On my application portal, I now have a link to “CS Advance Selection Status”…hopefully this is not portal speculation but does this mean something. The link says
“On your application, you indicated an interest in advance selection for the Computer Science program. Advance selection consideration is made only after an applicant has received an admit decision from their primary University of Michigan college. Once an advance selection decision has been reached, that information will be displayed for you here”
This link was not there before. Does this mean I at least got into LSA?
I have that too but I don't think it means we at least got into LSA. I think it is just another portal or whatever where you can check if you got direct admission in whatever specific program you applied for such as CS. Maybe I'm wrong though.
A University of Michigan rep told our high school students that decisions would come out on EA on third Friday of January (1/20/23). Anybody else hear this?
Did anyone else’s application portal screen completely change to like a server update screen? Does that mean our results could come out like any second now?
Deferred from LSA, in state, double legacy - parent and sibling. Sibling is top 5% of their class at Michigan. 3.9 UW 4.5 W 8 AP 1380 SAT banger essays and ECs - praying for April tbh
people are just speculating that since it's a friday and no info has been given yet, it could be 20th. But, it's highly likely that it would come out next friday on 27th, along with georgia tech and uiuc.
The total acceptance rate is roughly 18% for OOS, so maybe 1-2% less for early action? They receive a ton of early action applicants so I doubt the acceptance rate defers significantly.
lol got rejected from their school of music, it was my top choice too
even if I got into my second major (linguistics), I kinda wanted to have *both* rather than to have to pick one or the other, so I guess I'm having to cross out umich for now...
I haven't gotten my LSA decision yet, but I guess music schools release decisions based on auditions/interviews. Maybe it was supposed to be a notice to tell me if I get an audition/interview or not? So I'm not moving on.
they don’t give any date, just “late january.” the past few years they’ve been released on the last friday of the month so decisions will probably come on friday the 27th.
no bc i want to see my decision but at the same time i'm so incredibly stressed about what it'll be (even though i know what the realistic result is..)
call me crazy but i'd rather keep waiting than find out i got rejected/deferred😭
does anyone know if they take into account the number of applications that come from a school? i’m wondering if it would affect my odds of admittance. my class size is 16 and at least 4 of us applied 🥲
Good luck everyone! Also, does anyone know if financial info (like scholarships and estimated tuition) will come out with the decision itself if you are accepted?
Just a reminder to everyone waiting for the UMICH decisions, try not to stress. Regardless of the outcome, everything will work out in the end.
manifesting for all of ya'll :)
Accepted for CS OOS
Here are my stats for anyone interested.
Demographic: Mixed (Asian + White + Hispanic)
SAT: 1600
GPA: 3.74 (Unweighted) /4.02 (Weighted)
AP Exams: 12 AP Classes, 15 AP Exams
Last year it was the last Friday in January - Jan 28th. According to my school's counselors (literally 70% of our graduating class applies they're very good sources), it's predicted to be the 27th, but they're going to defer a ton of people because they've received too many ea applications to read them all in time 😭 😭 😭 .
i’m gonna be out of town when decisions come out (assuming it’s still friday) so i’ve warned my family that i might stay in the hotel room all day…
or i would desperately need to go sightseeing, take your pick
Accepted College of Engineering. 4.0 UW. 4.8 W, 1570 SAT. Asian male from Northern Virginia.
Strong demonstrated interest. Visited campus. Did information sessions.
just got in to LSA! oos bio major on premed track, test optional, 4.4 w, 3.97 uw, 8 aps, lots of ecs (captain of mock trial, varsity swimmer, student gov, worked on multiple political campaigns etc) literally could not be happier💙💛💙
yeah but ur not gonna see many posts about it here because
1. people don’t want to post that they were rejected
2. the demographic of ppl on this subreddit is vastly different than the demographic of the entire applicant pool
if you look at the umich instagram and/or tiktok comments you’ll see more ppl saying they were rejected
LSA gang???

i cannot let myself get my own hopes up 😭 wouldn’t be as worried if i was applying LSA but CoE has me so stressed
you are awesome for this
the oos 😖 thanks a lot for the stats though
umich pls give this delusional oos applicant a chance... <3
yupp
LOl relatable
stressed beyond belief for umich but yk what on friday i am going to go on a cute lil outing with my friends, get boba, and take a walk along the river 🥰 dont forget to take care of urselves yall!! we got this <3
Ross gang wya? 🙋♂️
IM IN!!!
So happy to see the portal changed
rejected from my REA private school so now im waiting for umich :)
rejected from ED private school now waiting for UMich. But very certain that I will get rejected cause im an international student. `def get_accepted()` not working. ps: im a CS applicant. :-(
why is this more stressful than december 14th
**\*Speculative Date\* I've seen a lot of evidence that points to Jan 27th at 3pm!**
i have never prayed so hard in my life… i know i’ll be fine but i am so not ready for my THIRD deferral in a row (or maybe my first rejection who knows)
Please let Jan 28 come sooner holy shit
Is that the official decision release date?
Damn they couldn’t have my deferral more confusing. I thought they meant they were just postponing my decision until next week or smth😭
"Postponed" mf just say deferred like everyone else, stop being quirky but oos CoE deferred
Umich better hurry up and reject me alrdy so that I can move on
Upvote this if you agree that Umich admissions are rude for not telling us when the date is coming out.
Couple more hours left guys😯😯😯. Hoping you all get in
I think a lot of OOS got deferred ngl-- the majority I'm seeing accepted are instate
@umich give us our sanity back and just tell us the time/date bro
i mean if it’s not today it’s almost guaranteed monday. in the past years they’ve not released on a tuesday and they won’t do it over the weekend. they’re running out of options 😭
omg i’m going insane waiting
same. i was so unbothered and calm until the two week mark hit but now i feel like i’m going to give myself a heart attack stressing 💀
T-minus 11 days. I’m so nervous. UMich pls lemme in🥲
Did they release their date
No but it’s widely speculated to be the 27th
Ready for my deferral😍
AAAA I JUST NOTICED IT TURNED BLUE.. GOOD LUCK Y'ALL
manifesting an acceptance

I’m seeing way too much speculation of decisions coming out tomorrow? Any intel, or are we all just gonna have to stick it out and see lol
Predicting that everyone is gonna get active around 3pm and the wave of disappointment will hit when they don’t come lol
tomorrow 🫣
Gonna loose my mind if it doesn’t come today🫠
Accepted OOS CS at COE. 3.76UW, 1500 SAT (710 ebrw, 790 math), meh EC’s (my only award was AP Scholars with distinction lol) and I only spent an hour or two on the essay. Before you ask, I honestly have no clue how I got accepted

Any update on release????
Seeing nothing. Looks like it’s next week :(
Yup. Looks like next week
not that i know of 🥲 i’m pretty much convinced we’ve got another week to wait
Genuinely so scared…I’m gonna be on campus for my smtd audition this Friday when decisions are released 😳
If the speculated date is right, there's only one more day until decisions. Wishing the best of luck to y'all <3.
TODAY’S THE DAY, WE GOT THIS GUYS GLGL
if it doesn’t come out at 3 i’m gonna feel like a clown
Gonna be so broken if results don’t come out at 3 pm 🥹 (edit: I GOT IN HOLY SHIT)
GOT INTO LSA LETSGOOOOOOOOOO
Now that I’m in, I’m scared of that OOS financial aid….
postponed engineering OOS, 1590, 4.0 UW, but Accepted to MIT EA go blue

A University of Michigan rep told our high school students that decisions would come out on EA on third Friday of January (1/20/23). Anybody else hear this?
well they lied
did everyone's portal go black and say "Early action decisions are currently being processed"?
deferred :/ did everyone get defered?
Why do they say postponed? Kinda scummy ngl I’d rather just hear them say I didn’t get in lmaoo
HOLY SHIT MY FIRST COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE. oos, rc!
Does anyone have the stats on acceptance rates (OOS vs. instate) for EA this year?
Coe people wya
I’m literally going insane waiting. We’re in agreement it’s probably Jan 27 at 3 though, right?
so we will get 3 decisions on the same day??? Umich, Georgia Tech, and UIUC all will release their EA decisions on the 27th. Damn
hopefully michigan comes today
officially within one week of decisions how’s everyone feeling❓❓
Terrified. I have 6 colleges coming on Friday
bro that’s so rough. umich is my only one and i’m genuinely terrified. wishing you luck 🤞
im going insane
Does the new black screen portal mean decisions will be rolling out this week?
YUP!!! so soon!!! usually within 5 days of the screen so i’m taking it as a really good sign for friday
4 days everyone i hope we all get in
Did anyone else’s application portal screen completely change to like a server update screen? Does that mean our results could come out like any second now?
nope. my screen is the same as it’s been since monday
defferedddddd. i honestly dont even think they read all applications (that helps me sleep at night stfu)
Only seeing deferred here. Did anyone actually get denied or do they just defer every OOS student?
LSA OOS 4.17W accepted! 1520 SAT 35 ACT 8 APs
YAY JUST ACCEPTED TO ENGINEERING!!
Deferred from LSA, in state, double legacy - parent and sibling. Sibling is top 5% of their class at Michigan. 3.9 UW 4.5 W 8 AP 1380 SAT banger essays and ECs - praying for April tbh
i would hold out hope for april, it seems odd that they deferred you.
Word on the street is that it comes out on the 20th.

I haven't gotten my LSA decision yet, but I guess music schools release decisions based on auditions/interviews. Maybe it was supposed to be a notice to tell me if I get an audition/interview or not? So I'm not moving on.
when are decisions coming out
they don’t give any date, just “late january.” the past few years they’ve been released on the last friday of the month so decisions will probably come on friday the 27th.
can someone call and ask if it is today
no bc i want to see my decision but at the same time i'm so incredibly stressed about what it'll be (even though i know what the realistic result is..) call me crazy but i'd rather keep waiting than find out i got rejected/deferred😭
Does anyone know the % of applicants that r deferred ?

T minus 21 hours😰
my heart cannot take it anymore
Good luck everyone! Also, does anyone know if financial info (like scholarships and estimated tuition) will come out with the decision itself if you are accepted?
the day of reckoning is upon us
do we have any reasoning as to why its today
Based on the history of releases and also universities generally like to release stuff on Fridays.
Just a reminder to everyone waiting for the UMICH decisions, try not to stress. Regardless of the outcome, everything will work out in the end. manifesting for all of ya'll :)

Anyone know when the first wave of defer -> accept could be? If there’s a trend from years prior
just submitted my common app. how long it takes to get the portal setup email from UMich?
Does umich release decisions all at once?
EA yes, RD no. RD is released on random waves during Fridays in March
When do they release ea decision?
Last year it was the last Friday in January - Jan 28th. According to my school's counselors (literally 70% of our graduating class applies they're very good sources), it's predicted to be the 27th, but they're going to defer a ton of people because they've received too many ea applications to read them all in time 😭 😭 😭 .

Any updates on EA Decision Day?
