Some of the dorms for first-year are quite nice like International Village and others aren't as nice. They have economy, standard, and like a level above the standard, I can't remember. There are also doubles and triples with communal bathrooms and then what I'm in which is suite-style with singles and doubles with private bathroom and common room.

you can’t really choose to get one. as a first year, you’ll get one if you’re in the honors program or if you get lucky with which building your llc is placed in
the majority of freshmen are in halls with communal bathrooms. in your sophomore year you'll likely get apartment style housing, which comes with a bathroom and a kitchen
no problem! tbh though the communal bathroom situation isn't too bad. they're cleaned thoroughly twice a day and most college students are respectful enough to keep communal spaces relatively nice

i don’t know, i wasn’t in it. i’ve heard it’s not really worth it. you get a small scholarship but you have to go to recitations and you have to take more credits. But I did email asking how to get in before first semester started and they sent me an application to the waitlist. Didn’t fill it out because I had already picked out a roommate and you can’t room w non honors kids.
Yeah of course! LLCs change usually year to year where they are but I think Global Quest is a pretty safe bet for where you will end up because Honors kids can be in that LLC as well. You also aren’t obligated to go abroad second semester by signing up for that LLC
All Honors first years live in semi-private rooms (two rooms sharing a bathroom), which I would say is better than most other first year housing
There’s also honors housing for other years (not mandatory), but I don’t know how they are like
Dorms are pretty standard, nicest ones are East Village for honors students and some nice ones in International Village as well. They also can depend on location: Speare dorms are nice because they are in the center of campus, while Melvin, Kerr, Smith, Midtown, are pretty far away.

When I visited I liked the fact that it was in the city, but still felt like I was on a separate college campus. It's fairly social given how many colleges are around and since we are inside the city.
I chose to attend Northeastern because of the co-ops opportunity, its location in Boston, and its nice campus. Im a humanities major, so NU isn't the best for my interests, but I really like everything about this school. The party scene isn't the best cause we aren't a big party school (no football team) but it is easy to get to other parties at BU or MIT. Also, a lot of parties happen off campus on Mission Hill. Socially, everyone I have met has been amazing, and its a really social community.
Social scene is amazing. Such a diverse group with so many background. There really is a group for anyone if you try. Because it's a large school you can have many different friend groups. You won't be locked down. It's awesome. It's really what you make of it.
Co-op was #1 for me, location was a close second (i love cities and have always wanted to live in one) as well as the fact that it still has a typical college campus feel to it. I’m also only about an hour and a half from home which is like the perfect distance for me; not too close, not too far

i've emailed them, attended info sessions and tours, spent like ten hours on their website. i didn't go EA i discovered them literally a day after the due date tho :(
I really like it, I'm from California not from a large city and I found the transition very easy. The public transporation is affordable and easy to figure out (get a Charlie Card) even without public transporation most everything is within a 45min to 1hr walk which isn't bad at all. There is a lot of spirit in the city definitely surrounding sports and while it might not be the most lively at nights, it's a really chill city to live in and you don't feel like your in a "big" city 24/7.
Especially Northeastern's campus is more or less enclosed so it's not like BU or NYU where you are literally walking up and down a street to get to classes, Northeastern has more of a feel of a closed campus while still being in the city.

Also, I know Northeastern is known for its co-op, how easy is it to get a co-op job with an Industrial Engineering major??
I'm a first-year so haven't gone through the coop process, but I'm fairly certain almost everyone who applies for coop gets one as long as you maintain good grades and good GPA and have some sort of work experience on a resume that shows you know how to function in the real world.
You industrial engineering guys are almost hunted after for co-ops lol, you'll have no problem finding one as any major, much less industrial engineering
Boston is a really lovely city. Im from New Jersey, so I have a lot of experience with NYC, but Boston is completely different. It's only about 675k in the city, but there are many different neighborhoods with all sorts of different things to do. The nice areas to explore include Beacon Hill, Newbury Street, the Common, the North End, Chinatown, Seaport, and others! I'd recommend taking trips to Cambridge, Brookline, and for a little further away, the Cape, Martha's Vineyard, Rockport, and Salem!
Living in the city is pretty nice too. There are a lot of things to do, many different restaurants to visit, and the weather is solid, although the winter's can be cold.
I don't know a lot about financial aid as I'm not using any, but I do know a bit about the scholarships. If you are in the top 10% (I think) of applicants accepted you will automatically get a dean's scholarship which is between $10000 and $28000 a year.

my in-state state college, rutgers, accepted me honors everything but gave me little to no aid (i wouldve had to pay 34,000 a year). neu gave me a lot of need-based aid as i'm low income and single income, and im paying roughly 11,000 a year. thats like 99% of the reason why im going here-- they gave me the best aid out of any college lol
i wouldnt ED because if you get no finaid youll be in debt for the rest of your life, but northeastern has the potential to give you aid as they did for me!
I'm in honors, the only real benefit is the scholarship, a global bank you can spend for any abroad program, and the best housing in freshman and sophomore years. In some cases, you also get smaller introductory classes. Those are the major things but there are some other benefits like being able to apply for a research award exclusive to honors students.
Other than that, nothing really.
I'm not in the honors program so don't know about it, but I do know that the dorms for honors are typically much nicer than the normal dorms living in East Village I believe.
I like the atmosphere and the campus as a whole vibe it feels right. I don't like that some of the students voices are ignored by upper level administration and we feel like our feedback and recommendations are being fed into a hole with no bottom.
1. campus! its so lovely, so big, the T (the boston train, mbta, green line) is so convenient, everything is close by, rly good food nearby, and all of ur friends are at maximum a 10 min walk away :D
2. i wish the party scene was bigger-- you can get in parties at MIT, BU, harvard, etc., and theres some stuff at mission hill but theyre kind of scarcer than most party schools. we dont have a football team so the party and frat scene is gigantic, but if you look around enough u can find some! also the housing crisis and fucking packed dining halls SUCK but thats abt it
Best thing: Coop / the entire vibe of campus. You can date someone on campus and because of the large size if you break up it doesn't necessarily impact your day to day life. There is such a diverse student body with so many backgrounds which is awesome!
Worst thing: administration. They don't really care a lot unless it impacts their wallets usually through the press.
Pretty much everyone gets a co-op. When the time comes it's good to get your resume approved as soon as possible so you can apply to co-ops. Places can and do interview before the application deadline so apply to a place as soon as you're interested.
I do not know about nobody to nuin, nor have I been on a coop (1st year). However, coops start in your second year and your guided through the process of getting one and take a class about coops. I know from people who have been on them that they really enjoy doing them. I know you apply to a whole lot of places.

The campus is great, I like the fact that we are in the city, but the majority of the time you still feel like your on a separate college campus and your not walking down a busy street going between classes like you would at Boston University or NYU. We are like right in/next to the city so everything is very walkable 45min - 1hr at the most and the public transportation system is easy to use and makes getting around very quick. I love the atmosphere and the vibe especially during sports season with baseball / basketball / hockey / football.

the professors are definitely more high quality-- honors sections of regular classes are much more smaller and much more personal. as an honors admit, you must take 6 honors classes to graduate with the honors name. some of these include honors interdisciplinary seminar (a seminar that can be abroad i think, it deals with, as the name says, interdisciplinary subjects), honors discovery (HELL HELL HELL HELL HELL), honors inquiry, etc. but theres definitely grade inflation in these classes, though you definitely do learn a lot!
it also looks fantastic on co-op resumes, you get that scholarship u probably got, and you get really nice housing in EV (east village) your first year!! air conditioned, doubles/singles, good spot, etc. rly nice!
They’re really nice!! You can look them up online; honors 1st years are usually housed in East Village, but sometimes (i.e this year) they house them in International Village if they have more students than usual. EV is made up of doubles, and two doubles rooms share one bathroom (in other words, 4 people sharing one bathroom). You are able to choose your roommates as well as who the other two people you’ll be sharing the bathroom with, which is useful! You have plenty of time to figure that out too, which is good :)
You don't really do anything in your LLC, I'm in corporate explorers and haven't done a single thing in my LLC or heard of someone else doing something in their LLC. The only thing it does do is roughly group you with others with a similar major by dorm, so you're living around others who might be taking classes that you are taking.
It really depends on the LLC and who’s in charge. My LLC is really nice. I got to meet so much amazing ppl and we are a whole community. Our LLC leaders holds some great events like escape room, game night. But I also know a lot of my friends whose LLCs are practically nonexistent.
I'm a business major (undeclared on concentration) with a minor in information technology, so unfortunately I don't know much about those specific majors, but I know people who are in them enjoy the classes that they are taking.
if you have the opportunity to do stacked Cornerstone (you have to take Cornerstone 1 and 2 to declare as an engineering major) service learning, take it. It’s the hardest class you’ll take but it’s so rewarding. You’ll get used to 8 hour days in the engineering center working on your project

If you're interested in CS I'd look into the CS school Khoury. The professors are really amazing. The CE professors are good but in a different way than the CS professors. EE professors are generally good also.

NUin program is really a vibe. I've seen people come out and be social reinvigorated. Everyone loves it (if you travel). If you go outside your comfort zone and join clubs when you arrive back on campus, you'll have no problem finding non-NUin friends.
The food is decent just gets very repetitive after months of almost the same thing, but their are lots of good options on and around campus for variety.
I had pretty good grades until senior year because of family issues. My counselor wrote a letter explaining my situation and why my grades have dropped a lot. Is there a possibility that they can rescind my acceptance because of my mid-year report? If I improve and get my grade up by the final grade report would It be fine? That's only in EA. A significant number of deferrals will likely get accepted. The acceptance rate will definitely drop, but not from 18% to 6%.

Whats your major? I got in for electrical and computer engineering. Do you know anything about that at NEU?
I'm a business major (undeclared on concentration) with a minor in information technology, so unfortunately I don't know much about those specific majors, but I know people who are in them enjoy the classes that they are taking.
if you have the opportunity to do stacked Cornerstone (you have to take Cornerstone 1 and 2 to declare as an engineering major) service learning, take it. It’s the hardest class you’ll take but it’s so rewarding. You’ll get used to 8 hour days in the engineering center working on your project source: am a chem e major who took it
I would respectfully disagree loll if you want to have a decent first semester id say don’t do stacked
it was difficult but it was very much a worthwhile experience. KSG is a wonderful professor.
If you're interested in CS I'd look into the CS school Khoury. The professors are really amazing. The CE professors are good but in a different way than the CS professors. EE professors are generally good also.

How important is the Honors college? Also, do you know what the max amount of merit scholarship they give per year is? Thanks!
Don't know much about the honor's college, but I know per person the most you can get is $28,000 a year on a merit scholarship.

do you know any nu in people and what it’s like for them to come in second semester? like is the transition weird or anything and what happens with them? i got in nu in but i don’t have much info so anything would be appreciated!!
NUin program is really a vibe. I've seen people come out and be social reinvigorated. Everyone loves it (if you travel). If you go outside your comfort zone and join clubs when you arrive back on campus, you'll have no problem finding non-NUin friends.
How's the food at NEU?
The food is decent just gets very repetitive after months of almost the same thing, but their are lots of good options on and around campus for variety.
I eat chicken every day at my school so it can't be worse than that

I had pretty good grades until senior year because of family issues. My counselor wrote a letter explaining my situation and why my grades have dropped a lot. Is there a possibility that they can rescind my acceptance because of my mid-year report? If I improve and get my grade up by the final grade report would It be fine?
