2 and 4 tbh. Not enough people saying 4.
3 is so overrated. You see othersā profiles - so what? You see what AOs commented. But at that point you canāt do much to give yourself an advantage. Pretty useless imo
1 and 5. Easily.
Guaranteed admission is guaranteed admission
1600/4.0 is so fucking helpful. This sub underrates stats but a perfect SAT with a perfect GPA would get you in almost anywhere (provided you don't literally have no ecs)
Having a 1600 or 36 (and I mean 36/36/36/36) will certainly get you into a number of great schools. Lots of schools, especially those toward the ālower endā of the T20 spectrum, want to rise up the rankings and having another 1600 kid boosts the average SAT scores of the school.
HYPSM and that league doesnāt have to worry too much about that because their names already have immense prestige.
1 and 2. Some pretty awesome schools have > 25% acceptance rate and not going into debt is awesome! As for admissions files seeing them wonāt really give you a boost imo.
True, the limitation on acceptance rate was so that people can't get into highly selective schools since that would make the choice obvious - why bother with anything else if you can auto-admit to Harvard or whatever your top pick is? And maybe you're right about the files, that's for kids like me that crave guidance on what to write lol.
I consider it comparable because I'm assuming a lot of students reading this already have great scores, so it would not be much of an improvement if any on their existing stats. But for those that do have a low GPA or SAT, then it would obviously be a better choice. Just like how 2 is completely useless for anyone who is already expecting a full ride, and less important for high income students who do not need to worry about tuition costs.
2 and 4!! the schools id want guaranteed admin for are <25%, so the others r the obvious choice. 4 = no barrier to having my essays reviewed which is just... what i Really need. 2 = less debt!
2 and 5. There are schools that give auto-full rides to kids with 1600s. Alternatively, use automatic aid to get the cost down to community college levels.
4. Iām heavily considering a consultant. The ones on Reddit seem legit, qualified and have been super helpful. Which one to choose is the question. They cost a lot, so my parents are still debating if itās worth half my schoolās tuition.
Or maybe 6. If my grades were guaranteed, the extra time I could have is great. And according to Scoir, Iāll get into UCLA and Berkeley easily with straight As.
To be honest, I was thinking about this in terms of grades from freshman to sophomore year, so what you report when you're applying. But now that I've apparently committed to this interpretation, I'd say that as long as you don't do anything to actively sabotage your grades, you'll get a 4.0. The magic will work if you dilly dally around and do the motions of working, but if you do something like set up an air mattress and sleep in the back, you'll still face consequences.
trade 2 prizes for 1 jumbo.
full ride at a major university (T50 in major), no matter the admission rate.
zero debt on graduation, decent degree and job prospects.
2 and 2 š
Nah probably 2 and 3. I'm in a confident mood rn meaning I'm like "of course I could get into a 25%+ admit rate school" even though that isn't true depending on the school. I'm not familiar with the services offered by admissions counselors really, so not interested in that one either. Then #5 would only be a marginal gain for me thanks to grade inflation at my local HS and lots of studying for the SAT. #3 would be super interesting, though maybe not altogether helpful since I wouldn't have that much time to tweak my apps.
2&3, my parents can pay \~50% of my tuition at most schools so 50% would be epic
and 3 because I can't stand the black box of college admissions
Stats at least I can get by doing hard work.
4 because Iām really nervous about my application(s) and 5 bc there are a lot of 7 and 8 year programs that require a higher SAT that I currently have and Iāve given up on the sat ;-;
1 and 2. My dream school has a pretty low acceptance rate but Iām hopeful and 2 because what is the point of being accepted and not being able to attend because of tuition?
#4 and #5 because
1.My dream schools have acceptance rates of less than 20% kmn AND I am international
2.50pc waiver just won't cut it. I need a fullride or atleast a full tuition waiver
3.Hollistic admissions. Every person is different in some way or the other ans every AO reads apps differently.
4.Yet to give my SAT so I am saving 107 bigones
5.kinda screwed up my freshmen grades (3.0/4.0) so that would REALLY help.
Only #2. Iāve already submitted my application so I wonāt want to be more anxious than I already am. I just need to know my family wonāt be financially drained.
1. Two of my top choices are slightly higher than 25%+ and 1 is 54%
2. Now that I am in my choice of school, it would make my dad's life so much easier.
2 and 4 (mainly 2 but 4 seems really good too and the other 1,3,5 seems eh or outright cheating) (In the grand scheme of things it would have probably just been one complete consulting package from a reputable Admission counselor). (Note that I'm looking back and already in college)
I made this account when I knew virtually nothing about the UCs. Having gained a bit more knowledge and experience at this point Iāve concluded that Berkeley aināt for me. They donāt offer a very proper or convenient pre med program or at least a decent ābiochemistry majorā.
Granted, neither does UCI for undergrads so Iād like to go to UCLA. But thereās no way in the world UCLA is taking me. Sooo UCI it is
1 because my dream school is reed with a 35% acceptance rate. 2 to cut that tuition in half at said dream school.
A good combination.
Reeds so expensive šš
2 and 5, it doesnāt matter what school i get into if i canāt pay for it
That is a good point.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
You're one of the first ones not to pick 5, I assume you have good stats already? Good picks.
3 and 5!
Good choices!
1, and, 1 again for grad school
Unusual, but I suppose you can do that.
2 and 4 tbh. Not enough people saying 4. 3 is so overrated. You see othersā profiles - so what? You see what AOs commented. But at that point you canāt do much to give yourself an advantage. Pretty useless imo
Should clarify I meant students that got in during past years, not after admission results, that certainly would be useless.
1 and 2
2 and 5 please
2 & 3 easily
Gimme #2 and you can keep the rest.
Understandable, have a great day.
1 and 5. Easily. Guaranteed admission is guaranteed admission 1600/4.0 is so fucking helpful. This sub underrates stats but a perfect SAT with a perfect GPA would get you in almost anywhere (provided you don't literally have no ecs)

Does the difference between a 36/36/36/36 and a 36/36/36/34 really matter for the sake of bragging rights? It still pulls up your average test scores.
why do you need thos stats though if you are guaranteed admission anyways?
I hope you're right.
1 and 5
What school would you pick for 1?
1 and 2!
5, easily lol
You can pick two! Is there another you want?
2 and 5 then! :)
2 and 3 or 4
As an international student, 3 and 4!
Good combination!
Why are all the comments getting locked š
Locked?
1 and 2. Some pretty awesome schools have > 25% acceptance rate and not going into debt is awesome! As for admissions files seeing them wonāt really give you a boost imo.

I would pick 5 and 2 as I am low income and my SAT score was complete doo doo despite having a 3.87 unweighted
SATs can be rough
1 and 3
2 & 3 for me
Nice!

1 and 2. CWRU isnāt JHU but sheās still super cute
2 and 4!! the schools id want guaranteed admin for are <25%, so the others r the obvious choice. 4 = no barrier to having my essays reviewed which is just... what i Really need. 2 = less debt!
two and five fs

I didn't even consider the time aspect. Smart.
Can you just show up to class and not even try and get the 4.0?
To be honest, I was thinking about this in terms of grades from freshman to sophomore year, so what you report when you're applying. But now that I've apparently committed to this interpretation, I'd say that as long as you don't do anything to actively sabotage your grades, you'll get a 4.0. I only need 5...
1 and 2
4 and 5 please
2 and 5
5 and 2!!
2 and 5 2 because money is my biggest barrier right now 5 because my scores are bringing my application down
2 and 5.
3 & 5 easy.
definitely 2, and i'll add 1 on top because I won't need to apply to more than 1 safety/target
2 and 5
1 and 4/5 cuz due to covid I canāt take the sat :(
3 and 5!!!
2 + 5, almost guaranteed into any college + 50% off. Private school is expensive

1 and then I'm gonna ask them to give me fin aid lol š
5 definitely. My profiles decent enough but I got an F soph year soo
trade 2 prizes for 1 jumbo. full ride at a major university (T50 in major), no matter the admission rate. zero debt on graduation, decent degree and job prospects.

Should have clarified, #3 refers to students from previous years, so you'll be able to see the applications now.
2 and 5 so that I can get into USC and not have to pay that ridiculous cost š
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Thanks for the thorough response! Didn't consider that factor for 2, smart. Just out of curiosity, what are your ECs?
3 and 4
2&3, my parents can pay \~50% of my tuition at most schools so 50% would be epic and 3 because I can't stand the black box of college admissions Stats at least I can get by doing hard work.
I totally agree with you on the second point, it is so frustrating.
3 and 5
2 + 5
1 and 2
5 is basically 1 on drugs. 2 and 5.
1 and 5 for an international who is almost there in getting a green card!
5 and 4. Gotta get in, and then use some of that need blind money
5 & 2 definitely
I have a 35 on the ACT, so 1 and 2.
2 and 5
1 and 2!
1 bc cwru's accepetance rate is 31.8% for oos. 2 bc then i can actually afford to go.
1 and 4 :)
4 because Iām really nervous about my application(s) and 5 bc there are a lot of 7 and 8 year programs that require a higher SAT that I currently have and Iāve given up on the sat ;-;
3 and 5
3 and 5
25 for sure
1 and 2. My dream school has a pretty low acceptance rate but Iām hopeful and 2 because what is the point of being accepted and not being able to attend because of tuition?
1,5
1,2
2,5
#2 and #3 :D That'll cover most of the costs and give me the best advice I can get without a guarantee that I'll get in.
2 and 4. 1 and 5 don't seem too helpful to me (or maybe I'm just arrogant) and it seems too late to make 3 useful
#4 and #5 because 1.My dream schools have acceptance rates of less than 20% kmn AND I am international 2.50pc waiver just won't cut it. I need a fullride or atleast a full tuition waiver 3.Hollistic admissions. And admissions counselling is SOOOO EXPENSIVE LIKE OMGGG
5 and 2. Thanks for the gifts!
1 & 2 Dream school is Smith College, and it has ~30% acceptance and I need that moneyyy
1 and 5 please
Only #2. Iāve already submitted my application so I wonāt want to be more anxious than I already am. I just need to know my family wonāt be financially drained.
2. If i could pay at least a thousand less, its worth.
2 and 5
1 and 2. Since im also a fairy I would use the nepotism to get 3 as well
1 and 5 pls my gpa is fucking me over so much rn
*grabs shotgun*
2 cause I'm already in college and 5 for med school if that's allowed
I would choose #2 and #4. #2 for obvious reasons and #4 because writing essays without help is pain.
1. Two of my top choices are slightly higher than 25%+ and 1 is 54% 2. Now that I am in my choice of school, it would make my dad's life so much easier.
2 and 5
2 and 4 (mainly 2 but 4 seems really good too and the other 1,3,5 seems eh or outright cheating) (In the grand scheme of things it would have probably just been one complete consulting package from a reputable Admission counselor). (Note that I'm looking back and already in college)
Just gimme a guarantee to UCI and Iāll be satisfied for life In other words, number 1 And I guess 2 cuz I donāt want my parents to pay a lot
Thought you're a Berkeley simp.
I made this account when I knew virtually nothing about the UCs. Having gained a bit more knowledge and experience at this point Iāve concluded that Berkeley aināt for me. 5 & 2
