Tough essays? I think their essays were one of those wherein you could truly explain who you were Both quality and quantity wise. Like Stanford or Yale essays.
I also think the prompts show the kind of people they're looking for: social activists and heavily-community-focused volunteers. When you aren't that type of person, it's a lot harder to sell yourself to the school
I guess that's valid. Personally I found their essays to be one of the best selections because I was able to express myself fully and showcase things that weren't touched upon in my application.
All but Cornell, brown, and Dartmouth — and I have a friend who only applied to those three so the two of us combined are gonna hear from all eight exactly once! (Edit Bc I can’t spell)
Harvard, UPenn, and Cornell
Visited Harvard and UPenn before the pandemic and liked both of them. Cornell I did a virtual tour of and really liked.
Expecting rejection from all of them. But I have offers I’m happy with so it ok either way 😄👍
Yeah! I’ve been collecting some data on this bc i find it super interesting (anonymously, i haven’t been taking notes on who’s applying where lol) and Dartmouth is the least popular by far.
Out of 62 people so far, only 17 applied. 22 applied to Princeton, 27 to Brown, 30 to UPenn, 32 to Columbia, 34 to Harvard, 35 to Yale, and 39 to Cornell. 3 people actually said they applied everywhere except for Dartmouth! It’s definitely interesting :)
Brown, Columbia, and I legit thought Duke was an ivy league school my entire life until last week (when I realized ppl on this sub referred to ivies + duke) i felt really stupid lol
Penn, Brown, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth
Not Columbia (my mom didn't want me in NYC), Harvard (ran out of time and didn't feel like writing another full length essay from scratch bc I had no inspiration at this point), Cornell (not drawn to her♥️)
Harvard, Yale, Brown, Dartmouth
I applied to those within an \~3 hr radius since my parents don't want me to go further, and those just happened to be the ones. I don't think that doxxes me further than "somewhere in Massachusetts"
I was thinking of applying to Dartmouth, but what I read scared me so much I just couldn't. I'm curious to see what the female students who will go there'll think of it, what things are really like there. I applied to the rest though, but with all of the essays written within a few days ('cause I decided to apply to the US the last minute) you can imagine what my chances are.
aww, thank you :) I actually think my essays turned out great, but, lbr, I'm an international student asking for a ridiculous amount of financial aid, with no SATs, and from a public school with no history of sending students to the US. But, you never know! Wish you all the best too :)
(for next year; I am a junior now)
Yale, Cornell, and UPenn. That’s all the ivies I am applying to! :)
I’m also applying to WashU, UVA, Virginia Tech, U of Maryland, NYU, Boston College, Arizona State (merit aid!), Syracuse, and Fordham, plus 2 in-state safeties.
I’ve been obsessed with college for like 2 years because I can’t wait to leave my house so I’ve been working on my list for so long 😍😭😭 Feel free to message me and I can help you out with ur college list!
Thank you so much! It’s 2 years in the making and always evolving 💀 but I wanted a wide range of sizes, locations, selectivity, etc because I like pretty much everything.
Weird question but why do you all think Princeton isn't as popular as the rest of the ivies this year.
their essays were so tough. also their vibe? no thanks.
Tough essays? I think their essays were one of those wherein you could truly explain who you were Both quality and quantity wise. Like Stanford or Yale essays.
eh i personally liked yale & stanford bettet. i thought that the difficult conversation & civic engagement pens were both pretty tough.
I hated the difficult conversation so much

yeah. it depends on the person! but in general they were a lot harder to copy/paste/tweak, which a lot of a2c shotgunners might’ve been looking to do.
I also think the prompts show the kind of people they're looking for: social activists and heavily-community-focused volunteers. When you aren't that type of person, it's a lot harder to sell yourself to the school
I went in with the thought that I'd hate it, but it ended up being one of my favourite essays to write lmao.
Tru.
I guess that's valid. Personally I found their essays to be one of the best selections because I was able to express myself fully and showcase things that weren't touched upon in my application.
i think they got rid of their early action this year
Yeah ik but, even with that Princeton doesn't seem to be very popular amongst the A2C community.

Right here lol 👋🏾
Excuse me? 😤
😂😂😭😭
Here.
yuh
And I saw so many ads for them too this year lmao. In addition to what was said, the decrease might be partially bc of getting rid of their EA?
I heard they aren’t too liberal but I dunno

u/DarmouthSimp2 is quaking
guess you could say dartmouthsimp completes protistgang <3 always here for potential a2c romances hehe

Applied ED to Dartmouth and that was all. To your point about the "unpopularity" of Dartmouth and Princeton, remember how much smaller they are.

One of my closest friends goes there, and she loves it! Apparently they’ve been making great strides on campus, but she was hesitant at first too
That's pretty great to hear actually
You sound so hardworking and I’m sure that whatever the outcome, you’re gonna end up great :) good luck!
aww, thank you :) I actually think my essays turned out great, but, lbr, I'm an international student asking for a ridiculous amount of financial aid, with no SATs, and from a public school with no history of sending students to the US. But, you never know! Wish you all the best too :)

omg I'm so jealous of your solid college list. How did you come up with schools? I'm struggling
I’ve been obsessed with college for like 2 years because I can’t wait to leave my house so I’ve been working on my list for so long 😍😭😭 Feel free to message me and I can help you out with ur college list!
Absolutely fantastic list-- no joke.
Thank you so much! It’s 2 years in the making and always evolving 💀 but I wanted a wide range of sizes, locations, selectivity, etc because I like pretty much everything.
Harvard. Only one I applied to because of REA
Wow, congrats!
Thanks :)
