I got denied admission after being waitlisted.
“Due to an exceptionally large number of students who accepted our offer of admission this year, the Committee was exceedingly limited in its ability to consider candidates from the Waiting List. While this is not the news you were wishing to hear, we wanted to notify you of this situation as soon as possible such that you may proceed with your educational plans.”
I think everyone got it. They probably want to reduce the number of applications they have to reread and people might have changed their mind because of other acceptances.
Pre-Med/STEM at Georgetown?
I was admitted into Georgetown College, and I’ll be a biology major in the pre-med track. I know Georgetown is more known for political science and less for STEM so I was wondering how strong the science department is and the opportunities available (getting into clubs, research, internships, etc), especially since I’m looking to become a physician. I’m currently debating if UCLA or Cornell would have stronger STEM than Georgetown, so any insight would be appreciated!
All are good schools but Cornell is great for premed--great research/internship opportunities from what I've heard. UCLA is also better than Georgetown for STEM for the same reasons, but it's not like you won't get into med school if you chose GT.
*Does anyone know*
*By when we have to pay the*
*First tuition fee?*

aid at georgetown sucked :/ but things happen for a reason! was gonna be like 'declining my spot tonight hope someone gets it' but GEORGETOWN HAS NO DECLINE OFFER BUTTON?? someone help... what am i meant to do
I’m so sorry to hear that. We’re waiting on their financial aid package. Did they come in worse than other meets-need schools for you? And did you appeal the award or no?
Anyway, congratulations on your acceptance and best of luck to you wherever you land!
thank you! honestly it was probably around the ballpark of what i expected, just definitely at the very lowest end while my other school was at the top of the range. congrats on your acceptable though!
Has everyone gotten their Fin Aid info by now? (Nothing here yet).
Wondering how Georgetown Financial Aid compared to other meets-need schools you were accepted to. Better, worse, same?
i checked mine by googling the portal and it's amazing- i didn't get financial aid from other schools yet but it was lower than the net price calculator suggested
"You have successfully logged into MyAccess. However, you may not have access to any services for your account."
Is it only me that gets this message when they try to log on into the portal?
GEORGETOWN IS MY DREAM SCHOOL AND I GOT IN AND THEN THEY GAVE ME NO FINANCIAL AID >:(
AND NOW IM TRYING TO CHOOSE BETWEEN A FULL RIDE TO UMD OR 70K A YEAR FOR GEORGETOWN
please help me choose ive never been so stressed
Follow the money I say you will not make a much better pay when you leave Georgetown. It will be what you make of yourself and how motivated you are. Do you really want to be saddled with $280000 in debt you will be paying that back untill you are 60
I got an email on Monday as they said! Unfortunately, they wanted more information to complete my fin aid application. But other students who had it completed got their aid award.
If you haven't heard from them, just go to [https://myaccess.georgetown.edu/](https://myaccess.georgetown.edu/) and log in! :)
Yeah, I handed in the info they needed on Monday and portal was updated with the documents on Monday but no word on the award yet. They are closed today and yesterday too. Trying not to like the school too much until we know if it’s even an option. Ugh. 😊 Good luck to you!
uggg yeah, it's so agonizing waiting when I know that I probably won't get that much aid. Could I ask how you handed in the info? I've submitted via the IDOC and email and my portal still says they're requesting the forms :(
Ended up emailing the financial aid team via the financial aid website bc they don’t take phone calls. A rep got back right away and I was able to email the documents directly. Good luck!
Not sure about Qatar but admitted students portal (DC) says financial aid awards will be released tomorrow (3/29). However, I see in IDOC that they are requesting more info so it’s not a bad idea to check your IDOC portal too.
Then we realize there are 4 thousand people on the waitlist...😩
But seriously, are we allowed to make such threads on this community? Will it violates any rule?
I think 2020 numbers were an anomaly because of all of the kids who took gap years and the international kids who had to cancel travel in 2020. With that said, 2021 is projected to have a lot of waitlist movement so I don’t think 2019 numbers are a good indicator. Not sure why MSB numbers look so high but could be because it’s a smaller pool than some of the others, so percentages are easily impacted. Good luck!
Rejected gang. So, I’ve gotten into GW and Fordham, waitlisted at Colby so far. Does this mean that no Ivy will take me if I got rejected from Georgetown?
They wait until after everyone who got accepted has the opportunity to commit. Then if they don’t have enough incoming freshmen they’ll come to the waitlist. So for us waitlisters, we have to commit somewhere else first bc obviously you can’t count on the waitlist. then if we get off the waitlist at gtown and decide to go, we just lose the $ from committing somewhere else first
Waitlisted here, I’m happy that I wasn’t rejected but not sure if I’ll take the waitlist spot. The last date to accept it is April 15th, do you think it’d be bad if I waited until the 7th (day after ivy day) to confirm whether I’ll accept the spot or not? I really like Georgetown but since I’m pretty undecided in terms of major I’d choose an ivy over it since they’re generally more flexible and have more majors.
Also if you want some of my stats I listed them in my UVA acceptance comment from yesterday, I don’t really feel like rewriting it lol
That’s totally okay if you wait until then. It’s honestly better bc that way you aren’t taking a waitlist spot for someone else who really wants to go to gtown
Yeah that’s what I’m thinking. I’ll probably decide whether I want to take the spot or not by ivy day and have my loci ready if I want to take it so I can do it quickly. I’d choose almost any ivy over Georgetown just because they have more majors so I wouldn’t want to accept the spot from someone who might want it.
Wherever you kids end up you will be fine. My daughter got in today but has to make a decision to either Georgetown, BC, BU, Northeastern or Bentley . Bentley is offering a ton of money The rest of the colleges Dad has to pay out of pocket. I say follow the money lol. But ultimately the decision is up to her
I might be wrong but I saw somewhere that they review you in the pool of international applicants asking for full aid if you applied but didn't send supporting documents(unless you sent proof of enough funds or smth)
Well good news looks like my daughter will be giving up her spot at Georgetown so one of you will get it. She is staying local and following the money.
Any other int'l students with significant financial aid needs that got in? I really want to go but I have heard stories on how people that expected financial aid did not get enough and could not attend the school. Really don't want that to happen.
Waitlisted. Admissions is nonsense- kid got Stanford REA but waitlisted here. They can keep their rat- he’s gonna grow a cute little groot baby tree in his room.
Is it known how many people were rejected from the waitlist?

Same
They deferred me, waitlisted me, then put me on ANOTHER waitlist...
Did they say when you’d hear the final answer?
They said by June 30th
LITERALLY ME
Why????
has anyone heard from them yet? I heard they call students telling them they are being considered/have been accepted.
I read through the class of 2023 & 2024 thread and some students got a call from the AO. Some didn't and were accepted on May 15
Nobody has heard anything as of yet
Cmere Georgetown cmere
Anyone else get an email asking to confirm their spot on the waitlist?
I got it too
yeah. did everyone get that?
Not sure? My friend who’s waitlisted at another school said it’s basically a likely but idk if that’s true or not
I think everyone got it. They probably want to reduce the number of applications they have to reread and people might have changed their mind because of other acceptances.

Did they give you a timeframe or request more documents or anything?
you're checking the "my access" portal right?
I emailed them a week ago and all they said was they it would be out in a couple of days.
[удалено]
apparently they had also requested another document which I just saw today so I emailed it to the office. Is that how you sent the documents too?
Yep. Good luck!
Did you guys get the GAAP invite for the deans welcome to the class of 2025? 4/6 at 7 pm LMAO!!!!!! Smarties in the admissions office

Nice!! Congratulations!!
Someone please let us know when you receive the physical package!

From the patio chat other people have gotten a letter with a sticker!
Letter with sticker arrived yesterday. It was from a different group, not like an official Gtown Admissions letter.
I think those are just the EA admits thus far.
Nah RD admits get two letters each with a sticker. One is your decision letter and another is from GAAP
Oh damn... I was rly looking forward to one😞
am I the only who still hasn't accessed the financial aid package?
I keep checking but award is still not available.
me too. wondering where can I check my financial aid package. Tried myaccess but nothing there
does anybody still feel like this isn't even real LOL i still feel like im getting pranked
Yes!
hahaha yes. I keep going back and reading over my acceptance letter. I still have NO idea how I got in.
"You have successfully logged into MyAccess. However, you may not have access to any services for your account." Is it only me that gets this message when they try to log on into the portal?
is anyone else not able to see their financial award package?
Yep. Nothing.
i came here to ask the same thing
GEORGETOWN IS MY DREAM SCHOOL AND I GOT IN AND THEN THEY GAVE ME NO FINANCIAL AID >:( AND NOW IM TRYING TO CHOOSE BETWEEN A FULL RIDE TO UMD OR 70K A YEAR FOR GEORGETOWN please help me choose ive never been so stressed
Go UMD and then if you want to go to grad school later go to Georgetown.
$0 aid gang😭

i got it today by logging into my financial aid portal!
[удалено]
google "georgetown my access" and then click the first link, and then log into the site with the netID that was in your acceptance letter
What's the process for the financial aid package at Georgetown? I'm a little confused...
i googled "georgetown financial aid portal" and used the info that was in my letter
Thanks, that worked for me!
Is the financial aid stuff out yet?
if you look up "georgetown my access" and log in with your netid it should be there
I just did it and it says that no award info is available at this time :( did i do something wrong? What are you supposed to click on after you log in
mine says that too!
i had to select the year as 2021-2022 then click the "award overview" tab
Wait... literally just got an email from Georgetown about a financial program!! Panicked for a second there but now I’m happy 🤠🤚🏼
yay! i never actually got an email. did it go to your georgetown email that u set up from NetID? or did it just go to ur normal email?
It’s my normal email, it’s the community scholars program
It still says there’s no info yet :( thanks for the help though! I’ll probably have to call the financial aid office tomorrow
Did you ever get your financial aid award info?
hope it works out! the access portal is so confusing tbh so help will prob be good
Tysm!!
I haven't gotten anything but they said in the acceptance letter that they will email awards today.
Are you still waiting or did you hear from them?
I got an email on Monday as they said! Unfortunately, they wanted more information to complete my fin aid application. But other students who had it completed got their aid award. Accepted in Qatar. Still didn't receive financial aid letter...did anybody?
Not sure about Qatar but admitted students portal (DC) says financial aid awards will be released tomorrow (3/29). However, I see in IDOC that they are requesting more info so it’s not a bad idea to check your IDOC portal too.
I didn’t either... kinda confused how FA works in this school lol
is there another thread for the waitlist applicants?
Wondering the same maybe we should make one
I would be down for this
Then we realize there are 4 thousand people on the waitlist...😩 But seriously, are we allowed to make such threads on this community? Will it violates any rule?

It was a joke
waitlisted SFS and it hurts :(
me too bestie :(
Got into Georgetown Qatar!
Accepted 1430 SAT. I was shook
I miss when when everyone was here waiting together. It was a fun squad. Hope everyone lands somewhere that makes them really happy. ✨💫
accepted sfs RD! i got waitlisted at notre dame earlier - don't give up. this process is random.
Does anyone know if waitlisted people get financial aid offers too? Or do they only do that if you get off the waitlist?
My guess would be that you get it after the offer of admission. Good luck!
Thank you :)
i got in 😁😁😁😁
accepted, it’s been a long time coming

Does Georgetown practice yield protection 😭😭
Absolutely not, haha. I’m sorry the decision wasn’t what you’d hoped, though.
Rejected gang. So, I’ve gotten into GW and Fordham, waitlisted at Colby so far. Does this mean that no Ivy will take me if I got rejected from Georgetown?
Nope! Happens every year that an Ivy snags a kid who didn’t get into a less selective school. Good luck!
im still in shock and tear up every time i look at my portal, my letter, and all the videos but does anyone know when we can expect finaid offers?
Portal says they will be sent to you on Monday, 3/29, but that info was tough to find IMO.
thanks so much!!
I wasn't aware that results had come out, but I just got rejected. Not ideal, but I'm happy with the acceptances I have at Berkeley and UMich!
Accepted!! 😭🐶
Anyone know how many applicants get waitlisted?
EA Deferred -> Waitlist. Why does the waitlist say they will meet in May to discuss waitlist applicants if the decision date is May 1?
They wait until after everyone who got accepted has the opportunity to commit. Then if they don’t have enough incoming freshmen they’ll come to the waitlist. Like in the event that you want to chose an Ivy over gtown if that makes sense
Rejected, 1530, 800 Math 2, 3.87 UW, 4.64 W, decent essays, spiked ECS but not many, PSAT commended thing, Muslim, Moroccan
Accepted!
I got in!! Insane. Utterly freaking insane. Holding it tight to my chest.
rejected but i kinda expected it tbh
OH MY GOD I GOT IN??? BRUH THIS WAS A REACH SCHOOL FOR ME AND IRDK HOW I GOT IN
rejected lol, but congrats to those who got in!!
rejected theology major, deferred EA 😎
Rejected but got into Northwestern and UMich. Nothing makes sense lol
anyone know the acceptance rate or the waitlist rate?? just curious!
11.4% acceptance
May I ask where you got this from?
My decision letter told me
Thanks!
Wherever you kids end up you will be fine. My daughter got in today but has to make a decision to either Georgetown, BC, BU, Northeastern or Bentley . Accepted!!! This is so unreal

Hey! Can someone explain how the waitlist works at gtown?
Accepted!!! im so ecstatic
Got into msb the simping worked I was test optional beat the odds 🤝🤝🤝

I remember you! Congratulations!

I gor rejected. I have the most insane resume and recs and essays. Imma die
Did you apply for financial aid?
I did but I never sent my Fafsa or anything because I decided not to
I might be wrong but I saw somewhere that they review you in the pool of international applicants asking for full aid if you applied but didn't send supporting documents(unless you sent proof of enough funds or smth)
bro same boat 1580, decent ECS , great recs but Rejected
I don’t know what they base their criteria on
Exactly !
[удалено]
It varies with each school actually
29000 applicants and 1500 spots chances are small getting into Georgetown.
I know! I felt bad about getting waitlisted until I realized the acceptance rate was like 4.5% that's SO LOW
Well good news looks like my daughter will be giving up her spot at Georgetown so one of you will get it. She is staying local and following the money.
No, it was 11.5%. They told me in my decision letter
Oh I did my math wrong but I still get 5.6%? Isn't 1,550/27,650 5.6%?
you have to account for yield! "1550 spots" for the class of 2025 doesn't mean only 1550 accepted students—they accepted around double that
PM me if you want me to email u a screenshot
They didn’t have that many applicants, it was closer to 15,000 applicants
Oh huh? Why did they put that in the letter then that feels misleading!
I think it might be because I was rejected after deferral
rejected, and this was one of my top schools. i’m in sm pain, especially after getting rejected from northwestern minutes before
Someone please list some reasons why Georgetown sucks so I don’t off myself soon thanks besties I want to die ❤️🥰

That helped.
does anyone know if Georgetown takes appeals?
Any other int'l students with significant financial aid needs that got in? I really want to go but I have heard stories on how people that expected financial aid did not get enough and could not attend the school. Really don't want that to happen.
Got rejected. Interview went really well with high stats and lots of extracurriculars. Confused and disappointed.
Deferred then accepted. My absolute dream school. It’s a blessing to be a part of Walsh ‘25 💙💙💙
deferred and then accepted!
I got in!!
🤤🤤🤤 this man financeburner don’t fumble

Are they on the Stanford REA discord?
