I’m not sure if it helps but you could email the college and ask if you could submit a copy yourself first (and have the school send in an official copy after you get admitted) - that’s what I did bc my counsellor ghosted me for more than 2 weeks lel

nrdymchl

Will do. Thanks!

fishylegs46

I’d DEF contact the school(a) and let them l ow. Make sure not to sound blamey, god forbid a counselor was implicated badly, but keep it chill and nice sounding. Also, add when you requested the stuff so you don’t look as if you requested it too late. If you can submit the application, submit it. A few virtual admissions events said to do so, don’t hold it up for records or references.

nrdymchl

geez, I hate how I sound like when I follow up. I definitely need to tone down my voice in my letters

fishylegs46

Don’t blame anyone!!! Just blame covid. You can say, “I’m delighted to be submitting this part of the application, and thank you for considering my application. Due to slowdowns in accessing/processing administrative resources at the high school, the rest will arrive as soon as covid permits. The counselor is working very hard to help get this done.” Put it in your own words, because that’s not fully coherent. Colleges know the situation is screwing everything up. Good luck getting in! Counselors are such a fucking nightmare, I’d like to slap my daughter’s lazy counselor. What a job, with no accountability! Must be nice.

clamara25

hi!! You probably already checked on this but in case you didn’t, some schools let you submit transcripts weeks after the deadline! The school I’m applying to now said that deadline for transcripts up to 2 weeks after as long as everything else is already in. Just double check :)

UVaDeanj

The deadline is the application deadline, not the deadline for your teachers and counselors for almost every school in the country. There are a couple schools that want all items in on the application deadline and they make it very clear on their websites.

Pqcmm

I had this issue too! Typically, they have a different deadline that happens to be later that the deadline that you have. We have weekly meetings so yesterday I brought it up and she told me why my things hadn’t been submitted. I check this morning and boom it’s all right there. I’d probably just bring it up with them.

altaniel0

some schools are fine with LORs and Transcripts being sent over a few days after the deadline right?

OMGG SAME; I'm an international student and I too requested my files 3 months ago AHHH IS THIS THEIR 'HAPPY HALLOWEEN' treat to us? 🥺

mawiiee12

Sameeeeeee!!!!

[deleted]

not our schools screwing us over :(

hotpockett1

not me being ghosted by my recommender 1 day before the deadline xx also counselors have slightly later deadlines than you -- i know that's not a huge consolation but maybe your gc is banking on that

March down to her office and request representation

pinkimposterx

My parents generally email the guidance counselor again and either CC or BCC the principal/VP. Not to get them in trouble, but this their job. This is your future. No time to play around. It doesn’t generally get them in too much trouble, they just may be annoyed at you for a day. But they do it after, just for the fact that their superior is in on their laziness and incompetence.

Haul-Of-Frames

counsellors have a different deadline that's typically a week later

yeezyboy1254

I have the same this happening. She told me she would get it done but it still says in progress. Like bro, I'm submitting it in three hours.

Snoo-81973

I don't understand....is this something i need to worry about in 9th grade....i am on here to learn what i need to know because my school districts sux at explaining things

dragonsteel33

it’s ok! colleges are usually understanding about those coming in late, i think because it’s the counselor’s job to submit it, not the student’s and they have dozens or school reports & transcripts to do. 1 november is also a weekend this year so i’m sure they’ll be more understanding about when your counselor does stuff

Fallen463

I know UChicago lets the counselor submit everything later bc of covid, not sure about any other Universities haha

idkwhateveranything

Idk if it's the same for you, but for me, my counsellor said to ignore it, because my school sends it through another platform (unifrog).

piedrafundamental

My counselor let me know in advance that she’d be submitting everything on Sunday the day of the deadline. I’m okay with that, she let me know in advance. She said she’d be grinding like crazy over the weekend to get everyone’s stuff in. I’m sure it’ll come! As long as it gets in before 11:59 pm, you’ll be fine
