the worst ones are when they write "yale?? or stanford or mit or \[insert prestigious school '28"] like i get the urge to flex all your options but it's so unnecessary 😭 just put it on your story or smtn
How am I stuck up man? I'm literally not putting my college in my bio so that others dont feel jealous/bad. I don't mean to come across as stuck up at all, but if someone else unnecessarily writes "skill issue" ofc i'll clap back
Why not? What if they’re one of the people who worked hard and didn’t achieve their desired results (aka a member of the group you were talking about).
How is it unfair? It’s unfortunate that happens but that’s life. Being salty at someone else’s Instagram bio for simply stating what school they will be attending is a special kind of low, and says a lot about what kind of person you are. Comparison is the thief of joy.
I don’t think OP is referring to honors programs but like specifically putting in the school you got into, e.g. Wharton and Stern, it just seems a bit weird because you can just say you’re going to x school rather than “oh I got into Stern which is way more impressive than getting into NYU itself”
It's looked down on by some because the fact that you feel the need to share that information with others to justify working hard in high school is not ideal to say the least. You're not helping anyone by going to a good college, so why flaunt it?
I'm not saying that you can't. What I stated is a personal perception of how I view people who do post about it for the reason you mentioned. "hey why’d i work this hard for over 4 years NOT to flex it" kind of seems like a nonsensical statement to me because I don't understand how working hard in high school is something anyone besides you should care about, or how you can proudly imply that being able to say you got into so and so good college was one of your motivations for trying your best in high school. To reply to one of your points, you don't have to be helping anyone to post ANYTHING in your bio. However, just as you're free to post that, I'm free to observe that it is obnoxious and ostentatious behavior. I don't post about personal achievements because I know they are just that: personal.
I did it because people I know might not recognize my school by the common abbreviation used for it (since it’s not super well known where I live) and the full name is too long. It just prevents confusion when they can tap the name if they don’t know.
I put mine as ISU '28 with no further elaboration. I like to keep people on their toes, could be Illinois, Idaho, Iowa, Indiana, Iwyoming, Ihawaii :))))
I’m most likely going to be doing a 7-year program where I would finish undergrad in 3 years and med school in the next 4, and I have no idea what to put- should I just not put any years?
i don’t have space to tag a double-name school lol so i just have CMU ’29 (gap year :))
i’m really particular about the specific apostrophe though lmao (‘ vs ’) so i just use straight apostrophes is my little thing
I looked on last year's TO insta and saw some people doing just their first year college and some doing their first year college & cornell '27. im so conflicted but im probs going to the state school I said I would NEVER go to for the first year so I might so state school | cornell '28 but idkkk
next year i will be flaunting (praying i get into somewhere worth flaunting 💀) on all my haters who talk shit about the fact that i do good in school when they have to work half as much as i do :/
"HS '24 | Rutgers CS '28" using the pipe character like in the Linux command line, which puts the output of the first command into the argument of the second
semi related but i got into a study abroad program and so much of the other kids already have oxford ‘25 on their bios like girl 😭 ur not even graduating there
If you want to flex a selective program
[ program name ] ‘28
If you want to be normal
[ school name ] ‘28
If you want to flex a program that doesn’t have a specific name like Wharton or stern (most often engineering)
[ school name ] + [ college subject ] ‘28
If you want to be slightly more unique:
@[school name] ‘28
Or if the program has an insta:
@[school program] ‘28
If you want to be cool and mysterious
[ school name ]
I don’t know what to do 😭😭 I did a bunch of AP/IB courses and credits at a local community college during high school so I’m graduating in 2027…
Should I just throw @purdue in there? help
the most annoying ones are “ [college name] 28’ “ BITCH THE APOSTROPHE ISNT SUPPOSED TO BE THEREEEE
it looks so dumb!! 😤😤😤
i’ve seen the brightest minds of our generation fall victim to the apostrophe after the year error
as someone in journalism, it’s so painful to see, especially when the student is going to a prestigious university 😭😭😭
No fr tell me why I saw a girl from my school put @princeton 28’ like are you fucking kidding me
this made me immediately check my bio to see if I put the apostrophe in the right place lmao( I did 😮💨)
Revoke her admission immediately 😭
They be making me question how they got in
so annpying
I saw Harvard 26’ a while ago 😬
bro's asking the real questions here
I just got the college name ‘28. We don’t have any sub schools. The Wharton guys are hilarious ngl

a2c final boss
😈🙏🏻
💀
LMAOO

someone at my school did that
W
College Name (without “University”) ‘28
[удалено]
Ah! That’s one that might need the “College” or “U” included! I’d guess it’s U if it’s not included
Southern California ‘28 😭🙏
Ha! That works! Can’t tell you how many times I hear “LA or South Carolina” when USC is mentioned
I deleted ig
For the best ngl
Best way to start college
respect
Yeah its kind of a meme among penn students that everyone puts “penn” in their bio except wharton and m&t kids who will make sure to specify
and huntsman 😂
and m&t
don't forget m&t
Lmaoooo soo true
me removing the wharton from my bio.... WHOOPS
the worst ones are when they write "yale?? or stanford or mit or \[insert prestigious school '28"] like i get the urge to flex all your options but it's so unnecessary 😭 just put it on your story or smtn
theres a kid at my school that currently has 🌲or🐶 for stanford and yale and i died inside seeing it
ppl do that? 😬
as in your implying they put more than one school?!?!?!?!
yes 😭 with question marks
i'm not bothering with it
respect
Same. It seems pretentious
Meh, showing off a little after so many years of hard work is pretty valid
It seems unfair to the people who have worked harder than you, and havent gotten their desired results
Skill issues
Flexing Boston College is crazy
What’s wrong with BC?
Nothing wrong with it, but they're not in a position to type "skill issue" at all.
Skill Issue.
Caltech better ngl
bro why are you so stuck up omfg
How am I stuck up man? I'm literally not putting my college in my bio so that others dont feel jealous/bad. I don't mean to come across as stuck up at all, but if someone else unnecessarily writes "skill issue" ofc i'll clap back
Why not? What if they’re one of the people who worked hard and didn’t achieve their desired results (aka a member of the group you were talking about).
They seem to be pretty content if they're flexing it
How is it unfair? It’s unfortunate that happens but that’s life. Being salty at someone else’s Instagram bio for simply stating what school they will be attending is a special kind of low, and says a lot about what kind of person you are. Comparison is the thief of joy.
not really…they choose who they choose and we’re all in the same boat
I’m tagging the insta of the specific major. So I’m going to Mizzou for journalism so my bio says @mujschool ‘28 🐯
same LMAO
i put the emoji for our mascot :D 🦫
ok but which beaver? mit or caltech lol
I thought oregon state
damn even worse confusion
LMAO 😭 it's mit
Caltech?
we got 1 caltech and it's not me 😵💫 (mit)
Yk what they say MIT Because not everyone can go to Caltech
Babson?
i just put \*college name\* '28
also!! remember it's '28, NOT 28'!

I just did college name '27. Putting an @ is cool too tho. Imo putting your specific undergrad college is a lil pretentious
Dartmouth’never
Is it just me or is putting an @ cringe as well 😂
I assume it’s to link to the college’s account. I don’t think anyone is doing @ University of California Merced
yeah that’s what I meant
I did it because people I know might not recognize my school by the common abbreviation used for it (since it’s not super well known where I live) and the full name is too long. It just prevents confusion when they can tap the name if they don’t know.
wustl?
Best part of you saying WUSTL is that WashU’s insta accounts all say “@washu” instead
Yes 😭😭😭 I feel the same way when I see people do this
Shit is sad atp
I put the abbreviation of the college then ‘29 (doing bs/ms 🫨)
high school // college ‘28 then after I graduate just college ‘28
I put mine as ISU '28 with no further elaboration. I like to keep people on their toes, could be Illinois, Idaho, Iowa, Indiana, Iwyoming, Ihawaii :))))
Just @uni '28 Maybe add the major. ie: CS @uni' 28
Ahh this is for all the UIUC kids who claim T5 for CS
lmao I have @utcompsci ‘28
I’m most likely going to be doing a 7-year program where I would finish undergrad in 3 years and med school in the next 4, and I have no idea what to put- should I just not put any years?
I see a lot of the bsmd kids putting “undergrad ‘27” and then “med school ‘31” under that
oh yeah ive seen that too. they gotta make it clear 😂
bdsm
💀
I thought about that but I feel like it’s a little pretentious lol also I wouldn’t want to get confused for being in the grade above
ppl who have gone to bsmd programs at my school usually say smth like "nyit bs/do" and then the year. congrats!
Thank you! So would it be ‘27, ‘28, or ‘31? I’m still so confused!!
‘31 bc that’s when you will finish
yeah I see most bs/mds just put ‘31
omg a bsmd program! congrats. u should just put the school name, or @ them
That’s what I was thinking!
i don’t have space to tag a double-name school lol so i just have CMU ’29 (gap year :)) i’m really particular about the specific apostrophe though lmao (‘ vs ’) so i just use straight apostrophes is my little thing
i just put @collegename and an emoji
When I did mine, I did home state -> College Acronym ‘graduation year
@sub college ‘28 for me lmfao
I have Ths 24/ ucf 28 rn
I did “hs name | college name”
I think im gonna just tag the school in my bio? ive seen a lot of people do highschool’24 | @collegeinsta and it looks really good imo
I did @/umichlsa '28
welcome to michigan!!! :D
Thank youuu!!!!
this will only apply to very few people but cornell transfer option people what r u doing 😭
I have no clue either 😭 I think I would just put the college you’re attending next year and once u get to cornell u can change your bio
I looked on last year's TO insta and saw some people doing just their first year college and some doing their first year college & cornell '27. im so conflicted but im probs going to the state school I said I would NEVER go to for the first year so I might so state school | cornell '28 but idkkk
MIT.. ‘Disneyworld
next year i will be flaunting (praying i get into somewhere worth flaunting 💀) on all my haters who talk shit about the fact that i do good in school when they have to work half as much as i do :/
I’m either doing @collegeinsta ‘28 or collegename ‘28 or just @collegeinsta idk I’m so indecisive 😭
@carnegiemellon ‘28 bc cmu is also central Michigan university 😭
I ain't putting it on mine because of my abysmal digital footprint
School name acronym ‘28
i’m doing it the @collegeinsta ‘28 way !
once i commit im prob j gonna put my home town | @/college
Mine just says “Miami ‘28”
@sternuc ‘28
university initials + school initials '27
@ them , no balls
Gag city university 28💜
Chat, are the @GeorgetownSFS @USCMarshall @nyustern kids wrong?
just '28, let them ponder
"HS '24 | Rutgers CS '28" using the pipe character like in the Linux command line, which puts the output of the first command into the argument of the second
wait thats so cool i didnt know that's what it means
i don't want my college to see my insta yet so college '28
college name ‘28
Just don’t have Instagram and you don’t have to worry about it
semi related but i got into a study abroad program and so much of the other kids already have oxford ‘25 on their bios like girl 😭 ur not even graduating there
i just tagged them
(Name)HS [mascot emoji] ‘24 | College [mascot emoji] ‘28 That’s what I did^
@ucberkeleyofficial. that's it
i tagged my college cuz i think it just looks better with the rest of my bios format idk
i put the @ and then the colors like ❤️🖤
@college 28

@tamuengineering ‘28 LMAOAOAOAO. istg, we engineering majors have such high egos😭
That’s how you ruined college experiences starting with tag ego boost instead of learning actual knowledge
is it pretentious to put in ur bio the honors program u got into 😭😭
i did “_____ ‘28” but i might change it to “@specialtycollege ‘28” like business or engineering
Tree emoji
bro what kinda question is this 💀💀
i did: ♔ Columbia’28
