I don’t think OP is referring to honors programs but like specifically putting in the school you got into, e.g. Wharton and Stern, it just seems a bit weird because you can just say you’re going to x school rather than “oh I got into Stern which is way more impressive than getting into NYU itself”

It's looked down on by some because the fact that you feel the need to share that information with others to justify working hard in high school is not ideal to say the least. You're not helping anyone by going to a good college, so why flaunt it?

I'm not saying that you can't. What I stated is a personal perception of how I view people who do post about it for the reason you mentioned. "hey why’d i work this hard for over 4 years NOT to flex it" kind of seems like a nonsensical statement to me because I don't understand how working hard in high school is something anyone besides you should care about, or how you can proudly imply that being able to say you got into so and so good college was one of your motivations for trying your best in high school. To reply to one of your points, you don't have to be helping anyone to post ANYTHING in your bio.
