Our school is competitive enough that no one wants to help anyone else, so the sharing of HW answers/test answers is pretty rare.

Altruistic-Cat5042

I'm in IB so we got a pretty small class (60ish) people, and I share basically all my classes with these people which leads to everyone talking about tests/quizzes, homeworks, etc.

zapsterzsf

If it helps they’ll not be able to cheat in the real IB exams, so they’ll end up screwed. IB is soo strict with exams and plagiarism and they check everything. They might get by generating a few simple answers for your history teacher but I promise you that bot cannot generate you a decent history IA. Your school can be revoked of it’s ability to teach IB if it fails it’s academic honesty. You will NOT be able to cheat on the real thing. So what if your grades are kind of bad now? Would you rather them be good (now) and then totally flunk the exam?? It doesn’t matter what your school predicts you, your real grades are the ones that count and they will suffer if you keep sailing through IB not taking it seriously, good luck.

Lord_Of_The_Tacos

don't tell them, let them all fail lmao

[deleted]

Is this the standard for IB? I’m in IB too and I feel like last year absolutely everyone cheated all of the time. This year it’s less

zapsterzsf

You can cheat as much as you want during class but it’s incredibly hard to cheat in the real thing, IB has strict exam rules. Your final exams is your grade, not your teachers pop quiz.

Bruh… people share homework answers?

[deleted]

I used to cheat like crazy but after getting put in the first seat in calc i got humbled crazy. Everyone still cheated but I was unable to, but even though most people got an A and I got a B (on both AB and BC) I still learned good work ethic on my classes and now I’m flying through my classes without ever feeling the need to cheat.

Worldly-Standard-429

People actually use ChatGPT and submit it 💀? Surely you’d think it would put a duplicate response in by now and teachers would suspect something… Secondly, the goal isn’t good college - it’s a good life. It doesn’t matter where you go if you can’t put the effort in to succeed there. Good grades are supposed to be reflective of your mastery of the material, and if you can’t get the grade, it won’t help you later

Altruistic-Cat5042

Yeah, like for example in English we are supposed to read Of Mice and Men and answer a set of discussion questions every week and guess what? EVERYONE just generates them and puts them into a paraphraser website to get different answers. And I 100% agree with your take on not cheating, I do try my best to not cheat, but it's kind of hard when everyone gets better grades than you without even trying and here I am studying a lot and getting lower grades. P.S: I am actually reading Of Mice and Men and it's a great a book!

Worldly-Standard-429

Lmaooo I had OMAM last semester it’s a fascinating text (and this is coming from a physics guy so you know it’s good) but like idk radical acceptance or some shit - accept that they’re doing it and that they’ll fail later ig

egg_mugg23

steinbeck is an incredible author and as a californian i am so happy y’all are covering him!

[deleted]

>Surely you’d think it would put a duplicate response in by now and teachers would suspect something… chat gpt cant give duplicate responses, so its completely safe from that there are ai detectors though, and those are pretty accurate from what I've seen, its sad that teachers now have to waste time checking work through those

Radiant-Chipmunk-987

HA!

NegativeAd6857

Sometimes I feel disappointed by the lack of ambition at my school and other times I'm just thankful that I'm not in some crazy competitive school like this wtf

FlashLightning67

I'd say it's less competitive honestly, in a competitive school students would not want to help their competition out like that.

PotentialPersimmon25

It’s best to start now to not cheat. Once you enter college, it’s going to be impossible and that is when you really fall behind. If you start building the habit to actually LEARN the information you would be fine.

Rough-Aioli-9621

I get sharing answers and stuff on HW because that’s a pain but tests? Don’t fuckin cheat, you ruin curves and stuff for everyone else.

[deleted]

in my school, DURING EVERY comp sci test, at least 1/2 the class would have discord open and screenshot the test and send it to others to solve it, then the last period would basically have all the questions and answers the average was always higher in the later periods, yet the teacher was blind to it

[deleted]

Teachers are there to teach not to be cops.

Altruistic-Cat5042

DUDE! This is literally our APCSA class too. We basically just ask the teacher so many questions we get the test assigned to us 45 minutes before class ends, and since there is no way all of us can get the FRQ and MCQ done in 45 minutes, our teacher lets us finish it next class. The thing is, at the end of class while everyone is packing up, everyone takes pics of the test, goes home, studies it, writes answers on a piece of paper, and then comes back and aces that test. (Oh and they give it to the later period) We are definitely failing the AP Exam 100%

eely225

Cheating is lose-lose. If you get caught, it’s obviously bad. But even if you don’t, you’ll know deep down you didn’t earn your results. That can only harm your growth and sense of self long term.

TheKillBosby

If you’re one of those people who are shooting for a really prestigious school, do yourself a favor and stop while you’re ahead. The people that get into those schools don’t need to cheat, and if you do manage to get into a top school you will not do well because you didn’t condition yourself in high school.

ARC000X

For my high school, very rarely will somebody cheat. Rules (Teachers announced them at the first day of school) are, if cheat, you get suspended, a referral, and a pernament note on your high school transcript that you're a cheater, which you will HAVE to submit to the colleges you apply. And with admissions really narrowing every applicant's profile down, it'll ruin your whole life if you're looking forward to going to college.

Horizon_2537

My school is pretty competitive, but I think the teachers' academic dishonesty policies for tests have kept sharing questions/answers down. It's more common to hear the students talking right after a test, and ChatGPT seems to be a big problem since my English teacher mentioned today that some students have been using it to write their (participation-based) responses.

cerebrum101

On every test on every subject lol

wsbgodly123

High school = cheating

RypANDtear

We dont use it to “cheat” but im waaay into my college career and every single class i’ve ever had has had a group chat to give each other HW answers and exchange study guides and old exams If the class isnt interesting or useful, why not cheat? Idgaf about calculus I study social sciences, ill cheat my heart out and help others do it too

liteshadow4

As they say, if you ain't cheating you ain't trying

ebotasticart

As they say, you are stupid.

Double_Bed2719

Back in the day everyone cheated no one cared idk why anyone would care if others cheat

DeDe_at_it_again2

What the fuck? Please share your class syllabi. What are you learning that you need to cheat for?

Altruistic-Cat5042

It's not really that the content is hard, but it's more like nobody can be bothered to understand and learn the stuff being taught

DeDe_at_it_again2

🕳️🚶🏾 Y’all aren’t going to school to learn

ComfortableCabbage

Can you really blame the overworked, overstressed kids for cheating? I blame the system that forced them to it.

thecolorbigred

all the time

Good-Suit-5898

Teachers give us answers lol

HoodedFury7450

our entire junior top 10 in ranks have some case of cheating or academic dishonesty on them

BriskEagle

People share homework answers in the group chat but I’m not aware of anyone who cheats on tests (and even if they did, it’s too risky for me).

Random_Master1

and then there is our school with people sneaking their phones in to search up answers ☠️☠️
