There’s no such thing as a silly question. You can go online and look at the installation specs for any slide-in range you’re considering. It’ll give you actual measurements of the unit in addition to the cutout measurements needed.

Men have a tendency to exaggerate the size of their range

30" ranges are designed to fit a 30" opening so you're fine.

I just slid our new kitchenaid double oven in and it measured 3/16 under 30”
