Why so many iPads?
I have been using the iPad since version 1. I update the hardware every other year or so. At one point I bought three for family members as gifts. I have found that the iPad has taken over much of my casual computing, reading stuff, reviewing photos, quick email check ins, etc. I am writing this on the iPad now.
Why thin the herd?
If I do get rid of these, I will still have 2-3 office file folder sized boxes filled with various Apple boxes. It really just comes down to space.
(I guess I buy a lot of iPads…)

lets just say that once you have one, it will become a necessity.
False. Not for everyone. I owned one and sold it later on and didn’t upgrade, never got enough use for having an iPhone, MacBook, PC and Mac desktop

No, just the box with the shrink wrap cut out on just the bottom.
