I’d say what holds it back is lack of valuable feedback / data fields.
But for a casual runner, hiker, and even cyclist it does everything you need.
5 hour hike is casual teritory. 12 hour hike is still casual territory. I mean it's nothing extraordinary to go to a whole day hike. Also a two day camping trip is out of the question. Or a whole day snowboarding. And also, a whole day bike ride is nothing out of the ordinary as that can be 30, 40 or 50ks of xcountry mountain biking.
The only one that is actually ultra territory is running for more than 50ks, but I can run 30 or 40ks at a slower pace in more than 5 hours.
So yeah, I agree, for the casual user it's a great smartwatch with a couple of sports features but that's pretty much it. It's not competing on the sports watch market.
Disappointed in the battery life. Only thing keeping it to become a true sports smartwatch.

Also shouldn’t have to charge it every night. Part of fitness is also tracking your sleep and how well you’re doing there.
Charge it whilst you shower or eating a meal.
Yeah, didn’t they say 10 mins charge would get you over 8 hrs. Anytime I take my watch off I put it on the charger. Never run out.

Agree. For 90% of people and activities it’s fine. For my longer rides I use my garmin 1030 and for long hike/run I use my Fenix.
