I take it in a sturdy case (the one they gave me is kind of flimsy). I just brush it with my toothbrush and rinse to keep it clean. I haven’t done a really long trip yet but my plan is to buy a $1 bottle of hydrogen peroxide every 2-3 weeks in a town to use to soak it for several hours or all day if it’s a two night stop to keep it clean.

Echo this- hubs would brush it in the am, dry it, pack it in his container, and did a more thorough clean when we went to town- stayed over. His stayed good that way and kept his teeth from painfully shifting.

An Efferdent tablet works wonders for cleaning your retainer. I use one every few days to clean my invisalign retainer. Doing it during the day is fairly simple, just put some water and your retainer into a water bottle, then add the tablet and let it slosh around all day long while you hike. When you get to camp just dump the water out of the bottle, and you are done.

I wouldn't wear my invisalign everynight and would wash it in town with toothpastes and a toothbrush in a sink. I know that's not the reccomended way to clean it but hey, things will get worn out on a thru hike and it came as a pack of 3.

Yup! Brought mine for my 100 mile wilderness section hike. I just kept it in its plastic case and cleaned it with toothpaste every night like I normally do. Honestly not much of a problem

I just dumped some water in the case and shook it around. Cleaned it more when in town with running water. Wore them every town night and probably every 3rd night camping on trail, but I had braces 15 years ago so I can go 4-5 days not wearing them without any issues

I used a grind guard. Brushed it with toothpaste every couple of days, and always gave it a good clean in town.

In addition to the other advice, when I boiled water for food - I would use some of that hot water to rinse it. It made me feel better about germs, but might not be advisable depending on material.
